Hanamaki Sky Lantern "Hanamaki Night around the stars" The "Hanamaki Night around the stars" is a winter-only event during which lanterns with wishes written on them (sky lanterns), float out into the night sky of Hanamaki. Sky lanterns are a type of hot air balloon widely used throughout Asia, including Thailand and Taiwan, as a means of communication and prayer rituals, but lately, it is their mystical and moving sight that became popular. In Hanamaki, at the Namari Onsen ski resort located inside the on-site "Hanamaki Minami Onsenkyo", you can write your wishes on a sky lantern and float it while admiring the snowy landscape and the stretching starry sky. In addition to the sky lanterns, fireworks display and traditional performing arts will be held on the day. This event, which celebrates its third year, is very popular with participants. The people allowed to participate in the event are limited to the people staying at Hanamaki Onsen hot spring facilities on the day of the event. CHINA Business Guide Compiled by: Swiss Business Hub Beijing, June 2019 ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE All travelers that enter China must provide a passport valid for at least six months after their arrival in China. Swiss and Liechtenstein nationals are required to have a visa for entry. Since February 15, 2019, all applicants for Chinese visas holding ordinary passports are requested to apply at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center. Information can be obtained from the website of the service center: http://www.visaforchina.org. For business travelers, it is recommended to apply for double-entry visa, as this type of visa allows for double entries within the validity of the visa. Besides, several visa exemption transit policies have been carried out in China for some circumstances, detailed information could be obtained from the website of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Zurich: http://zurich.china-consulate.org/det/lsfw/sbqz/t1071321.htm Visitors are required to register with the police department within 24 hours after their arrival. The registration is automatically completed while checking in to a hotel; for other accommodations, one most likely will need to register by himself. Failure to do so can result in fines and deportation. LANGUAGES USED FOR BUSINESS In general, Chinese (Mandarin) and English are the languages used for communication in a business setting. However, English is not widely spoken, even not in China’s top business destinations. For negotiations, the involvement of a professional translator is necessary. THE CULTURE OF RELEASING FLOATING LANTERN TOWARDS AVIATION SAFETY AWARENESS IN BANGKOK, THAILAND Kanittha Charernnit International College, Suan Sunandha Rajbhat University, Bangkok, Thailand E-mail: [email protected] This research paper aims to investigate the aviation safety awareness of people regarding the culture of releasing floating lantern in Bangkok, Thailand. The objectives of this research were 1) to study the culture of releasing floating lantern in Thailand, 2) to study the awareness of people towards aviation safety from releasing floating lantern 3) to study the law and regulation of releasing floating lantern in Bangkok, Thailand. The research study was based on qualitative research with a depth interview toward the attitudes and perception of people regarding the culture of releasing floating lantern and the awareness of people towards the aviation safety from releasing floating lantern in Bangkok, Thailand. Data analysis consisted of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The research findings were indicated as follows: In the past, Thailand policy for releasing floating lantern has not been considered as strictly as it should be. People and official authority have less concern about the problems related to floating lanterns releasing. Until the National Council for Peace and Order No. 27/2559 has introduced the preventive measures for releasing floating lantern and similar objects such as sky rockets, fireworks and any similar objects into the sky. Since, then the awareness of people for releasing the floating lantern has been increasing as the law and regulations has been announced and enforced continuously. The Lives of iSlaves: Report on Working Conditions at Apple’s Supplier Pegatron How the brand new bigger and better iPhone 6 are made? This report exposes the slavery working conditions at three factories of Pegatron Corporation, one of the major suppliers of Apple Inc. Pegatron, as reported by earlier news articles online, have been contracted to produce about 50 million units, which is equivalent to nearly half of Apple’s iPhone shipping in this autumn and winter. 1 The data presented in this report are drawn from our surveys conducted in three subsidies plants of Pegatron Corp., namely Maintek Computer (Suzhou) Co., Ltd (名碩電腦(蘇州)有限公 司), Cotek Electronics (Suzhou) Co. Ltd. (康碩電子(蘇州)有限公司) and Casetek Computer (Suzhou) Co. Ltd. (凱碩電腦(蘇州)有限公司). They are all located in No. 233, Jinfeng Rd., Suzhou, Jiangsu, China. PREVIOUS REPORTS PERTINENT TO THIS MATTER Amendment of Fireworks By-Law PW11 June 16, 2013 BACKGROUND The purpose of this report is to recommend changes to the Fireworks bylaw in order to update it to be consistent with current Federal regulations and to address an emerging fire safety concern. On February 1, 2014 a new set of regulations under the Federal Explosives Act, R.S.C. 1985, c E-17 (http://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/E-17/FullText.html) came into force. Among other things, the “Explosives Regulations, 2013” (http://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2013-211/FullText.html) updated the classification of explosives. Many of the City of London’s Fireworks By-law (By-law) definitions incorporate the classification scheme from the previous Explosive Regulations. It would be prudent to amend the definitions in the By-law to ensure they align with the current regulations. Sky Lanterns The amendment to the By-law also includes a prohibition on the use of “Sky Lanterns”. Sky Lanterns are small hot air balloons. They are designed with an opening at the bottom where a small fire is suspended. -

With the help of the local government, the area soon regained its popularity as a repurposed tourist destination with its own unique identity. Overlooking the beautiful Tea Pot Mountains, our first stop is at the Gold Museum where you can learn about the complete history of Jinguashi. Also located within the museum is one of the best-preserved tunnels in Taiwan where some of the original mining equipments are still on display. Just put on a helmet and delve into the Benshan Fifth Pit (approximately 180 meters) for an authentic experience as a miner.
