AzAFP Endorses Candidates Committed to Health Care Solutions The 2018 election is important and will shape many policies over the next two years. The Arizona Academy of Family Physicians is proud to announce general election endorsements of legislative candidates from around the state that represent our vision for health care and public health. These endorsements are based on a variety of considerations, including past votes and/or stated positions on several bills and issues that AzAFP has endorsed:

• Extension of the state’s KidsCare insurance program; • Protection of Medicaid coverage for Arizona parents and childless adults; • Limited access to tanning beds and tobacco products for minors; • Prohibition on teenagers texting while driving; • Voluntary certification for community health workers; • Streamlined credentialing for health care providers; • Increased resources to address Arizona’s health workforce shortage, including graduate medical education; • Continuation of “existing sunrise” process that ensures adequate debate and analysis for proposed changes to medical regulation and scope of practice.
