FORESTRY @BANGOR ALUMNI 2020 Newsletter FORESTRY @BANGOR ALUMNI 2020 Newsletter Welcome from the Vice-Chancellor I am delighted to present to you a fantastic collation of just some of the many highlights relating to forestry at Bangor University over the past two years. In many ways, forestry epitomises the spirit of Bangor University: a bold, traditional, international and dynamic university. Perhaps what strikes me most about this newsletter is the incredible achievements of our students who take such pride in, and responsibility for, their own learning through the Bangor Forestry Students’ Association. It is a very rare student society that has the ambition to successfully take on the hosting a nine-day international meeting of forestry students and professionals! In time, current students will transform into alumni and young professionals with the capacity to make hugely positive contributions to society, to livelihoods, to biodiversity and to the health of our planet. And as measured by the achievements of our many alumni from the forestry and related programmes, the bar has been set very high, providing us all with inspiration and ambition. Package North Wales Police ( UK ) Gwynedd Division Profile of the Division The mountainous heartland of Wales, and of the County of Gwynedd in particular has long been recognised as being of special significance because of its spectacular scenery and cultural traditions. Its dramatic beauty, however, is not - and has not been for many generations - completely natural, but is rather a blend of the forces of nature and the hand of man, both of which continue to shape its development. It is an area steeped in great history, but nevertheless subject of national contemporary socio-economic pressures, and the effects of a vibrant tourist industry. Gwynedd covers by far the largest geographical area (629,000 acres) of the six Unitary Authorities in North Wales, and it extends from the City of Bangor in the North to the Dovey Bridge near Machynlleth in the South, and from Aberdaron near the tip of the Lleyn Peninsula in the west to Abergwyngregyn in the East. (The Gwynedd Police Divisional boundary is coterminous with the limits of the Gwynedd Council Unitary Authority area). Gwynedd's neighbouring Unitary Authorities (and Police Divisions) are Anglesey to the North, and Conwy and Denbighshire to the East, whilst its Southern and South Eastern borders mark the boundary between the North Wales and Dyfed-Powys Police areas.

Aberystwyth University & Bangor University Common Policy on Consultancy Services Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities are both committed to ensuring that the results of its scholarly teaching and research are used for the benefit of the society and economy of Wales and beyond. This document sets out both Universities’ policy position with regard to the application of that knowledge through the provision of consultancy services. Partnership Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities have acted in concert in the development of this Policy and the Universities have agreed to adopt a common consultancy policy to promote greater synergy between the academic and support communities of the two institutions. This Policy operates as a policy for both Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities whether they are acting together or separately and applies to each institution as a separately constituted organisation. The Universities have established a joint vehicle for the administration of University Supported Consultancy activities as defined in this Policy. Aber-Bangor Consultancy Ltd provides a single support framework for supporting the consultancy activities of the Universities where they meet the definition for University Supported Consultancy. The Universities strongly encourage the delivery of consultancy activities within the context of this policy.
