    Invictus di Clint Eastwood Usa, 2009 --- biografico --- 2h e 15’ cast Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon Freeman diventa Mandela e Eastwood ne racconta la potenza e la grandiosità, senza mezzi termini. E’ il 1994 quando Nelson Mandela, detto Madiba (Morgan Freeman) viene eletto Presidente del Sudafrica. La sua politica di riconciliazione nazionale, di abbandono dell’apartheid per una pura democrazia si deve scontrare con le forti resistenze sia del popolo bianco che del popolo nero. Per cercare di unire gli abitanti del suo Paese decide quindi di chiedere al capitano della debole squadra nazionale di rugby Francois Pienaar (Matt Damon) di compiere un’impresa titanica: vincere i campionati del mondo che si svolgeranno proprio in Sudafrica l’anno successivo. La scelta di Clint Eastwood è chiara: Nelson Mandela non merita ombre, il suo personaggio è talmente grande e forte da meritarsi un biopic che sfiori l’agiografia astenendosene giusto in tempo. Invictus è un film dall’impianto solido, dalla sceneggiatura efficace (firmata da Anthony Peckham, uno dei writer di Sherlock Holmes) e dalla resa cinematografica classica e di ampio respiro. La costruzione del racconto utilizza ben tre punti di vista differenti per narrare la storia: quello del Presidente, impegnato a imparare a memoria i nomi dei giocatori della propria squadra per non fare brutta figura e a doversi nel frattempo occupare di “bazzecole” come intervenire ad una conferenza all’ONU o stringere patti economici con i paesi più industrializzati del mondo; quello di Francois Pienaar, chiamato a portare a termine un compito troppo grande persino per lui; e quello – il più insospettabile ed inaspettato di tutti – delle guardie del corpo di Madiba, un nucleo di persone bianche e nere costrette a collaborare e a vincere le proprie resistenze le une verso le altre in nome della sicurezza del loro capo.
