A. REMOVE CRACKED AND DAMAGED BRICK BY CUTTING OUT THE AROUND THE AFFECTED UNITS WITH A TUCK POINTERS . FOR EASE OF REMOVAL, THE DAMAGED BRICK TO BE REMOVED CAN BE BROKEN. ONCE THE UNITS ARE REMOVED, THE REMAINING MORTAR SHALL BE CHISELED OUT OF THE REMAINING ADJACENT BRICKWORK.

B. GRIND OUT CRACKED MORTAR JOINTS TO A UNIFORM DEPTH OF ƒ" AND TUCKPOINT THE JOINTS AS NOTED.

C. REINSTALL BRICK AS FOLLOWS:

i. LAY REPLACEMENT BRICK PLUMB AND TRUE TO LINES.

ii. LAY REPLACEMENT BRICK WITH SOLIDLY FILLED MORTAR JOINTS.

iii. BUTTER ENDS OF BRICK WITH SUFFICIENT MORTAR TO FILL HEAD JOINTS.

iv.ROCK CLOSURE UNITS INTO PLACE WITH MORTAR SET AGAINST THE BRICK HEAD JOINTS IN THE OPENING.

v. LAY MASONRY TO MATCH EXIST. BOND PATTERN AND MORTAR JOINT SIZE.

vi.ADJUST UNITS TO FINAL POSITION WHILE MORTAR IS SOFT AND PLASTIC. IF UNITS ARE DISPLACED AFTER INITIAL SET, REMOVE, CLEAN JOINTS AND UNITS OF MORTAR, AND RESET UNIT WITH FRESH MORTAR.

2. TUCKPOINT 100% OF MORTAR JOINTS IN THE FACE BRICK WHERE INDICATED AND SELECTIVELY TUCKPOINT MORTAR JOINTS THAT CONTAIN SHEAR CRACKS, SHRINKAGE CRACKS, SEPARATION CRACKS, HEAVY EROSION, UNSOUND MORTAR, AND ANY OTHER FORM OF DETERIORATION.
