We are a group of 7 Italian pilots flying with 5 planes since many years together. We flew in different part all over Europe. The idea to arrive in Israel in flight and to fly within Israel came sometimes in September last year. The pilots were happy their family members less due to the long-lasting military situation, but we were convinced if we get the entrance permission and if we really may fly within Israel we are safe. Certainly something always may happen but we were sure that we will be treated and monitored by the Israeli civil (and non) aviation authorities , from safety point of view with special regards. So in November we have started our preparation process asking (and received) help from AOPA Italia, from pilots visited earlier Israel in flight, Israeli pilots flying LSA. The group of 4 A/C and 7 pilots arriving to LLAH 29.5.2013 T/O back home via Cyprus LCPA 3.6.2013 Gyorgy Frank Glastar experimental I-BRMS Angelo Calistro P 2002 Sierra RG I-9246 Guido Alemagni Pimpinelli C 26 I-8111 Giuseppe Rotolo P 2002 Sierra I-9216 Excellent and smooth service and procedure was ensured by ASOC, by Haifa Airport etc. We had a 2 days domestic flight programme, starting with a detailed briefing on 30 May. The briefing was necessary and we fully understood the Israeli CAA regarding the request of a detailed briefing. The territory overflown is sensitive, the pilot must keep in mind the points and altitudes and no navigation error is permitted. After the oral and visual briefing a written material was handed over containing all details, points, frequencies, airports, etc. This written material was extremly useful during the flight. We are not accustomed to fly under extreme conditions, precisin flying, high temperuter, humidity, low visibility. All this all together after departure from LLHA 31 May morning. We were devided into 2 groups: Freccia Rossa group (Italian TGV) and snake group escorted by Israeli planes as guide. Continous 2 way radio comunication was maintained on our “chat frequency” After take off we flew to Tiberiade Lake up to the north end then to the south, flying between Tiberiade and Golan heights, following the Jordan river and Dead Sea t o Massada field. The organization of our Israeli fellow pilots was perfect: a minivan waited us on the field and took us to a nearby beach of the Dead Sea. For Israelis to sit on the water of the dead Sea is natural, for us a little bit less. It was a real fun. Later from Massada to Ein Yahav in flight and a late afternoon flight into the canyon. We were told that Israeli Light Sport Aircraft Assiciation organize 2-3 times common flights for its members. The timing was perfect, almost 40 local planes landed that evening at Ein Yahav field, did the1 hour Canyon tour with us and spent a pleasent evening in the nearby beduin tent. Outside temperature 40 degrees C. One of us called his wife in Sicily who informed his husband that just restarted to heat the apartman due to low temperatures. Next day breakfast in a field in the Negev, left our LSA friends and continued the flight in the desert, along the Egyptian border, landing in Beer Sheva airport. Came back to Haifa early afternoon following the West Bank border and the Mediterranian coast line. This is the short description of our stay and domestic flight in Israel. This experience was completly different to our earlier flight experience: different because of the human relationship. It has never happened that we were invited to sleep in privat hauses of local pilots, different because we have found a really open and friendly pilot comunity and we had occasion to live together , even if for short period, the everyday life of Israel. We thank it for everybody, and each of us would be happy to have Israeli light aircrafts pilots ARRIVING IN ITALY IN FLIGHT, in Italy as we are convinced that Italy also from this point of view a paradise Frank Gyuri 10.6.2013 Gyuri & Yigal at Haifa airport LLHA just befor departure back home .
