SECONDARY SCHOOL BURSARY INFORMATION

BACKGROUND Rural Women Wanganui wish to help rural students have equity of access to learning opportunities.

PURPOSE To assist students with the expenses of attending Secondary School, in the form of uniforms or technology.

VALUE Up to $1,000. To be shared between one or more applicants.

CRITERIA (a) You must be a permanent NZ resident or citizen to apply for a bursary (b) The secondary school bursary may be applied for applicants entering Year 9. (c) Priority will also be given to applicants who attend a school in the East Rural Schools Cluster or . Namely: Aberfeldy, Fordell, Kaitoke ,, , , and Kakatahi.

APPLICATIONS Applications must be made on the official application form and must be accompanied by the following: a) A letter written by the parent or principal caregiver, outlining the reasons for requiring this assistance. b) A copy of the applicant’s last school report. c) A character reference from one of the following: A Rural Women New Zealand Member, or a member of standing within the community, or a school principal.

No late applications will be accepted.

All applications will be acknowledged.

Applications will be considered by the Bursary Committee. The decision of the Committee is final.

PAYMENT Payment of the Bursary will be made in the form of a credit, in the name of the student, to Anderson’s Uniform shop or a shop providing the required technology. The credit for uniform is for a set dollar amount and may be spent on new or second hand uniform and does not have to be spent all at once, but can be spent as required. Payment will be made once confirmation of the applicant’s enrolment at the Secondary School has been received.
