  • Local Bus Links in Newcastle Designing a Network To
Local bus links in Newcastle Designing a network to TYNE AND WEAR meet your needs INTEGRATED TRANSPORT AUTHORITY Public consultation 15 March - 4 June 2010 Local bus links in Newcastle Designing a network to meet your needs Public consultation People in Newcastle make 47 million bus journeys annually - that’s an average of more than 173 journeys a year for every resident! Nexus, Newcastle City Council and the Tyne and Wear Integrated Transport Authority (ITA) want to make sure the network of bus services in the area meets residents’ needs. To do this, Nexus has worked together with bus companies and local councils to examine how current services operate and to look at what improvements could be made to the ‘subsidised’ services in the network, which are the ones Nexus pays for. We have called this the Accessible Bus Network Design Project (see below). We want your views on the proposals we are now making to improve bus services in Newcastle, which you can find in this document. We want to hear from you whether you rely on the bus in your daily life, use buses only occasionally or even if you don’t – but might consider doing so in the future. You’ll find details of different ways to respond on the back page of this brochure. This consultation forms part of the Tyne and Wear Integrated Transport Authority’s Bus Strategy, a three year action plan to improve all aspects of the bus services in Tyne and Wear. Copies of the Bus Strategy can be downloaded from www.nexus.org.uk/busstrategy.

Bonner, Martin (GVA) From: David Parker <[email protected]> Sent: 18 August 2017 14:34 To: Redding, John Cc: Matt Johnson; Paul Cornfoot; [email protected] Subject: Re: Wynyard Park Meeting Minutes Attachments: 170721 Stagecoach Meeting Minutes.docx WITHOUT PREJUDICE Hello John, Apologies for my slight delay in circulating this note. As noted from our discussion on 13 July 2017, it is apparent there remain a number of potential options in terms of how to serve the wider Wynyard development, and to provide desired 'connectivity' to other areas of the locality, and across the wider Teesside area, in the longer term. In our discussions, it was recognised that the suggested bus service should be developed in such a way so as to remain concurrent with land release within the development, as this will encourage sustainable travel by residents and visitors. A key element to this would be a phased approach to highways consent, highways build, and highways access, permitting the bus service to remain contemporary with release and occupation of sites. This will require the identification and delivery of suitable infrastructure to support the bus service (including ‐ but not limited to ‐ highways gauge, highways geometry, parking restraint measures, bus stop accessibility, shelter provision, etc). We look forward to sharing our views on this matter in subsequent discussions. In terms of bus service provision, we discussed three primary options, which I have summarised below: Option 1) The operation of a bespoke local shuttle service which would link the Wynyard development to the centre of Billingham (The Causeway). With a vehicle resource cost of 2 vehicles, a timetabled interval of up to 20 minutes could be offered.
