Embassy of India 8 - 14 Nov 2020 Jakarta INDIA'S LATEST NEWS NEWS MISSION'S ACTIVITIES HIGHLIGHT India's first solar- based water supply project launched in Arunachal Pradesh; WHO to set up traditional medicine centre in India; PM Modi Announces $1 Million Aid For Covid-19 ASEAN #India@75 Response Fund; Indian Navy launches fifth Supreme Submarine ‘Vagir’; IIT Alumni Council launches MegaScope for healthcare. : indianembassyjakarta.gov.in : IndianEmbJkt : IndiaInIndonesia : Embassy of India Jakarta 1 India's first solar-based water supply project launched in Arunachal Pradesh With an aim to provide drinking water to 39 villages in Arunachal Pradesh under Jal Jeevan Mission, Union JalShakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Inaugurated India's first solar-based Integrated Multi-Village Water Supply Project (IMVWSP). It is not only the first of its kind in the northeastern state but also the entire country. The project was commissioned at a cost of Rs. 2.85 Billion. Chief Minister Khandu said that the project is designed to provide drinking water to 17,480 people and has been conceived as an integrated project with an element of drinking water, green energy, and tourism component in it. This project is first of a kind in the state using green energy-solar grid, SCADA automation system, pre-fabricated zinc alum storage tank and HDPE conduit for mains, sub-mains, and distribution networking system, and also amusement park including swimming pool, amphitheater, fountains, and sit-outs. The project will also promote tourism in the area which will enhance the living standard of the people and thus help in boosting the rural economy. Source: Newsbharti WHO to set up traditional medicine centre in India The World Health Organisation announced that it will set up a Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in India, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing confidence that just like the country has emerged as the pharmacy of the world; the WHO institution will become the centre for global wellness. WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made the announcement in a video message at an event in which Prime Minister Modi inaugurated two future-ready Ayurveda institutions in Jaipur and Jamnagar, both premier institutions of Ayurveda in the country, via video conferencing on the occasion of the 5th Ayurveda Day. The Jamnagar institute has been conferred the status of an Institution of National Importance (INI) by an act of Parliament and the one at Jaipur has been designated an Institution Deemed to be University (De novo Category) by the University Grants Commission (UGC), according to the AYUSH Ministry. Source: The Economic Times PM Modi Announces $1 Million Aid For Covid-19 ASEAN Response Fund Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a contribution of USD 1 million to the COVID- 19 ASEAN Response Fund at the 17th ASEAN-India Summit, which was held virtually. In his address to leaders from the 10 ASEAN countries, PM Modi also highlighted India's response and broader support to the international community and welcomed the association's initiatives to fight the pandemic. According to an official statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Prime Minister announced a contribution of US$ 1 million to the COVID-19 ASEAN Response Fund. Source: NDTV Indian Navy launches fifth Supreme Submarine ‘Vagir’ Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) launched its fifth Scorpene-class submarine at Mazagon at the Kanhoji Angre Wet Basin of the Mazagon Dock. Built as a part of its Project-75, the submarine, Vagir, is the fifth of six Scorpene-class submarines built by the MDL, a public sector undertaking, and designed by French naval defence and energy company DCNS. It was launched by Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik from Goa, along with senior naval officers and defence ministry officials attending the function from South Block in Delhi via videoconferencing. The state-of-the-art technology used in Scorpene-class submarine has given it superior stealth features such as advanced acoustic silencing techniques, low radiated noise levels, hydro-dynamically optimised shape and ability to launch a crippling attack using precision-guided weapons. The attack can be launched with torpedoes as well as tube-launched anti-ship missiles, while underwater or on surface. Source: Indian Express IIT Alumni Council launches MegaScope for healthcare The IIT Alumni Council has launched MegaScope to include data analysis, testing and genomics to accurately diagnose infections and to prescribe personalised medicine. MegaScope will add host genome mapping along with data backbone, Artificial Intelligence and machine learning to the MegaLab initiative. The target of MegaScope is to improve accuracy of testing, predict likely disease severity and progression, enhance efficacy of treatment and avoid casualties altogether. Let it cook for 7-8 minutes covered with a lid. Ingredients of Masor Once the gourd softens, add the tomatoes and mix well; Tenga: Cover with a lid and let it cook for 4-5 minutes until the 4 pieces Rohu/ Catla fish tomatoes are pulpy. You could also use the back of your spoon to mash the vegetables; 1/2 tsp salt Add 3 cups warm water and turn up the heat. Once the 1/2 tsp turmeric powder curry comes to a boil, adjust the salt as per your liking; Add the pieces of fish and continue boiling to thicken the 1/2 cup mustard oil curry, for 5-6 minutes; 1 ridge gourd, chopped Remove from heat, and squeeze the lime or lemon juice on 4 large tomatoes, top. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve with steamed rice. chopped 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds About Masor Tenga: A simple, home-style, Assamese fish curry that is a regular Juice of 1/2 a lime or 1 feature during lunch and dinner. It is best enjoyed with wedge of lemon steamed rice and a fresh green chilli on the side. 'Tenga' meaning sour is the dominant flavour in the curry.
