ARTISTSPECIAL GEORGELEONARDIS -Makin' his Way Up by TOM ROCCO WPS6had the pleasure to interview an aspiring composer, songwrite r, guitarist individual by the name of GEORGELEONARDIS. After appearing on a recent taping of "Music Magazine" which is produced at WPSC, the response for his music has been over­ whelming. This musician, an unsigned artist .from Morristown, NJ, is presently in the process of recording his own album. His music is a mixture of the Eagles and Dan Fogelburg. He has a knack for being an outrageous acoustic guitar player and listening to his music leaves you in the mood. He plays electric guitar but the acoustic influen ce to his music is immense.

He's been satisif'ying this college station's audience for several weeks; since his music made it's debut. We Jmowhe's going places. Concepts behind his new album centers around happenings at this certain bar in the Morris Plains area. What goes on there has inspired him to write many songs~ He has quite a selection, and two that are presently getting intense airplay at WPSCare

Side Door, and Pick Up Friday Night. GEORGELEONARDIS has produced all his songs him- self, with a little help from his friend, RICK KERNER. Being a comI11Unication arts major, Rich has always taken a major interest in music, and has becane exce ptionally musically knowledgeable sinc e his first days of listening to music 1way back in 1964. Rich claims the Beatles have been his bigge st influence. Now that he is somewhat older than he was in •64, radio has taken a differen t phase with him. He li~tens to it more for the personality now, and this has provoked him to want to become a DJ.

Rich is presently working at Disco-mat as an order clerk. He started there back in May '79, when the Riveredge store first opened. --This is not his first music oriented job, for he's worked at other record stores. This sid e of the music also interests Rich.

He would like to become a music promoter in the future. Around WPSC, he has assisted the music director, written for }~sic Magizine, done many s~ecial progrSJ11s, and is an on air personal i ty.
