Translation/Rairana For so many years, the people of Tabuarorae Village had benefited from the utilization of the Fish Aggregate Device (FAD). Unfortunately, the installed device was disconnected and adrifted. Can this Government deploy another FAD or Tabuarorae Village? Reply by Hon. I want to ask, can the necessary improvements be made so that the whole island is fully covered by the mobile service? Reply by Hon. Translation/Rairana Flight is highly wanted for domestic travels including cargoes were not delivered at the intended time expected. I humbly request the Minister responsible if he could explain to our people in Nikunau reasons for frequent cancellations of flight without replacement and what is the way forward to solve the issue? Translation/Rairana I will start off with a sincere apology to the people of Nikunau and those that are affected by the cancellation of flights. The cancellation that are occurs because the aircraft was due for maintenace and according to strict regulations and laws, aircrafts are to be grounded for maintenance. Unfortunately, Air Kiribati currently have only one aircraft operating but I wish to assure all that our Government through Air Kiribati is trying its best to bring over the needed spare parts so that we can bring the other aircraft online and hence assist in the issue raised. 4 By Hon. Translation/Rairana There are no new policies adopted by the Government on coastal protection for all islands including Beru. However, I am happy to inform this House that a long-term Government strategy for coastal safety and security (LTCSS) has been drafted. As for now, the Government will continue to implement coastal protection measures through the Disaster Fund Project. By Hon. Taiaki Irata, MP (Onotoa) OQ21. Translation/Rairana A 3-year old patient by the name of Takobu Kabubuke from Onotoa was referred to Fiji in October 2019 for medical attention. Unfortunately this child died and all financial expenses for her funeral arrangements were met by the father. Can this Government provide reasonable compensation to the father as this case was subjected to the Ministry in the first place? 5 Reply by Hon. Translation/Rairana Speaker, I am happy to say that all memorial funeral expenses for late Takobu Kabubuke has been paid directly to Air Ocean Logic (AOL) and Melanesian Hotel, the two companies that have handled and arranged for the funeral ceremony.
