Integrated Urgent Care Service (IUC) HUC Are Taking Over the IUC Service (NHS111/Out of Hours) at 11Am on Monday 1 April Integrated Urgent Care service (IUC) HUC are taking over the IUC service (NHS111/Out of Hours) at 11am on Monday 1 April. Extended Access We have agreed a soft launch with CCG colleagues through April to ensure that the transfer is smooth and to help iron out any operational glitches that a full launch might entail. As a result we have taken the decision with CCG colleagues to prioritise delivery of NHS111, development of the CAS service and delivery of primary care out of hours service. This means that during April the plan is to offer in the region of 180 hours of pre-bookable appointments per week (shared out on a weighted capitation basis) and then to deliver the 225 hours plus the April shortfall from May onwards. There will be pre-bookable appointments each day of the week and appointments will be delivered in each locality, though not all sites will be available in April. Practices that need additional appointments will need to contact HUC on NHS111 option 3. With the soft launch, as appointment capacity increases further allocations of appointments for practices will become available. Any additional capacity will be released on a daily basis at noon. The skill mix of the service ensures that the patient is connected with the most appropriate clinician for their needs. We have also revised the appointment timings and administration time to reflect feedback from local clinicians. Please see the attached documents, which will help you to match the appointment to an available clinician with the relevant skill set. When booking an appointment, please confirm a reason for the appointment and the patient’s preferred contact number within SystmOne or EMIS. For the month of April, in order to maximise clinical capacity, appointments for ear irrigation will not be available. This decision was based on clinical advice. Please do not book ear irrigation appointments as these will need to be cancelled. Appointments for ear irrigation will be provided once the service reaches full capacity. Target Day/ GP Shutdowns If you are taking part in the GP Shutdown on 2 April in West Essex or on any other dates going forward and HUC are providing cover, please ensure you have a clear answer phone message directing patients to call 111. This message should also inform the patient when the surgery re-opens. Website notices From 1 April, we would ask practices to display the below information on their website to signpost patients to the NHS111 service out of hours if they have an urgent medical concern. It is also important patients are aware of the GP Extended Access service offering as well as how to book, cancel and amend appointments. When the surgery is closed If you require urgent medical assistance out of surgery hours please contact NHS111. To get help from NHS111, you can: • call 111 • go to 111.nhs.uk (for people aged 5 and over only) NHS111 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Calls to this service are free from both landlines and mobiles. Evening and weekend appointments You can now see a GP or another healthcare professional on weekday evenings and weekends. To book an appointment, please call the surgery. To find out more about the service, including the treatment centres where you may be seen, please go to https://hucweb.co.uk/services/gp-extended- access/ If you have booked an evening or weekend appointment in West Essex via your GP surgery and need to cancel or change it, please ring NHS111 and select option 3. .

  • Steve Bolter Liberal Democrat for Bumpstead Ward Complete
Steve Bolter Liberal Democrat for Bumpstead Ward Complete Online Version (1st) History and background. Steve is a retired Physics and Maths further education lecturer. In his home ward of Stour Valley South (a Braintree ward on the Suffolk border, very like this one), he came second to the Conservatives in the 2015 Council Election. Before the boundary changes, his home Ward was Hedingham and Maplestead. When Steve was a District Councillor for Hedingham and Maplestead, the Cabinet system had not reached Braintree. More District policy was developed in all-party committees and work groups. Steve served on: Modernisation, Environment, Planning, and Halstead Area (which includes Bumpstead). He is “non tribal” and enjoyed working with members of other parties. Notable successes were making Hedingham flood relief lagoons a priority, working with a Green Party councillor and others to advance Braintree Council’s environmental policies, and persuading the Council to oppose a second runway at Stansted. Steve is Vice Chair of the Green Lib Dems (an environmental group within the Liberal Democrats that predates the Green Party) and has taken an active role Lib Dem energy and climate change policy formation. His current term ends in March. He will not stand for re-election to that post if he is elected your District Councillor. He is his ninth year as a Parish Councillor. His most notable achievement was to get a Braintree District grant, to enable the Parish to engage a small Coggeshall company to bring microwave link Broadband to Gestingthorpe in 2008. Quite independently of “Superfast Essex”, this service has just been updated to Superfast Broadband, with domestic rates of 32 Mb/s available.
