{ } / ANCHORAGE CONCERT ASSOCIATION SEASON ALL ACCESS ANNUAL REVIEW SEASON HIGHLIGHTS Anchorage Concert Association's mission is to inspire and entertain Alaskans through the performing arts. With your support, ACA's 2013/2014 season was one of our most successful ever. We had a record number of sold out shows and brought many exciting names to Anchorage, inspiring audiences young and old. 31 74 88,000 12 artists and events performances tickets sold sold out shows Sept. ACA ALL ACCESS September 19 | Discovery Theatre Your inaugural ACA All Access was a great success with 225 people sampling food from several downtown restaurants and premium wines courtesy of Specialty Imports. The evening featured both live and silent auctions and ended with a special performance by Lisa Loeb. LINDEN STRING QUARTET September 27 | Discovery Theatre In addition to their public perform- ance, Linden String Quartet participated in six community engagement activities, including a visit to the Hiland Mountain Correctional Center Woman’s String Orchestra. THE NUTCRACKER Nov. 29 – Dec. 1 | Atwood Concert Hall Each year ACA dedicates the final dress rehearsal of The Nutcracker to benefit local social service agencies. Recent holiday shows, like Cirque Dreams Holidaze, have brought in huge audiences during a time of year when the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts as well as many downtown restaurants would be otherwise slow or empty. BROADWAY HIGHLIGHTS Each season, the shows in your Broadway in Anchorage Series are some of the most high-profile events to happen in Anchorage. ALPIN HONG January 18 | Discovery Theatre Always the favorite with students, Alpin combines everything from Mario Brothers to Beethoven. As part of his residency in Anchorage, he visited Polaris K-12 School. CALIFORNIA GUITAR & MONTREAL GUITAR TRIOS January 31 | Discovery Theatre Throughout the season, various artists join us for special house concerts. The California and Montreal Guitar Trios performed for one of these intimate yet relaxed occasions, where ACA supporters and community partners can interact more closely with the artists over wine and hors d’oeuvres. Several artists this season traveled to local schools where they worked with students in the classroom. PORTLAND CELLO PROJECT March 7 & 8 | Discovery Theatre Anchorage’s favorite Cascadian cello ensemble brought their brand of pop, jazz, and classical renditions to an auditorium full of Anchorage students. RUTH MOODY BAND March 14 | Discovery Theatre INTERNATIONAL BLUES EXPRESS April 5 | Atwood Concert Hall Cedric Watson and Sidi Toure’s performance in Anchorage coincided with the Alaska World Aairs Council’s inaugural World Music Festival. Aendees to the fest were treated to a discussion of the music’s CHICK COREA cultural context as well as a short & BELA FLECK performance by Sidi and Cedric.
