Graduation Guidelines 2 Department Graduation Guidelines History

In 2015, CDE changed graduation requirements for the Class of 2021 and beyond which require students to demonstrate proficiency in English and in Math.

Colorado Graduation Guidelines are a road map to help students and their families plan for success after high school. In order to graduate from high school, students choose from a Menu of Options adopted at the local school board level to demonstrate Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness (PWR) in English and Math. The guidelines go into effect for the Class of 2021.

Graduation Guidelines 3 Menu of Options

January 2017, the Board of Education approved the adoption of all options in order to provide students with the greatest flexibility:

▶ Testing Options ▶ Capstone ▶ Industry Certificates ▶ Concurrent Enrollment

Graduation Guidelines 4 Graduation Guidelines 5 Capstone

Capstone is a culminating exhibition of a student’s project or experience. It can be portfolio of work along with a public demonstration of academic learning in English and/or Math. Capstone will be evaluated using the district rubric. Capstone Rubric: ▶ District Capstone Rubric ▶ Math Competency Standards ▶ English Competency Standards ▶ Essential Skills CDE Examples and Resources: ▶ Resource Link

Graduation Guidelines 6 CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT Concurrent enrollment provides students the opportunity to enroll in postsecondary courses, simultaneously earning high school and college credit. Consult with your school for concurrent enrollment options based on a student's individualized career and academic plan (ICAP). Institutions of higher education determine passing grades for credit.

INDUSTRY CERTIFICATE Industry certificate is a credential recognized by business and industry. Consult with Boulder TEC for Industry Certificate Options.

Graduation Guidelines 7 The Process

Students will register for their preferred method during registration process for the spring of their Sophomore year.

If a student wants or needs to change their selected graduation method, it will be changed without reference to the previous selected option.

Graduation Specialists work with counselors, registrars and students to support their progress through graduation.
