MALTESE E-NEWSLETTER 267 May 2019 MALTESE E-NEWSLETTER 267 May 2019 15 Years – Malta part of the European Union THIS MONTH is the 15th anniversary of the 2004 enlargement, when 10 countries acceded to the European Union: Malta, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia. President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker said: “The decision in 2004 to embrace 10 European countries was a great moment for our continent and a great moment in history. The accession of the Central and Eastern European countries, and the courage of their people in preparing for that accession, is what allowed us to reconcile our continent’s geography with its history. I remain an ardent fan of enlargement today.” We have outlined some of the benefits of EU membership in the factsheet below. VOTE for Malta’s entry in the Eurovision Song Contest MICHELA "Chameleon” The 64th Eurovision Song Contest will be broadcast live and in prime time, exclusive to SBS (Australia) from 15 to 19 May. With the Federal Election on 18 May, Australians will be able to watch twice the amount of drama unfold in what is shaping up to be the double bill of the century. Voting during the three shows involved each country awarding two sets of points from 1-8, 10 and 12: one from their professional jury and the other from televoting. Each nation's jury consisted of five music industry professionals who are citizens of the country they represent, with their names published before the contest to ensure transparency. This jury judged each entry based on: vocal capacity; the stage performance; the song's composition and originality; and the overall impression by the act.

FREE THE OTHER COUNTESS PDF Eve Edwards | 352 pages | 30 Aug 2010 | Penguin Books Ltd | 9780141327303 | English | London, United Kingdom How to Write a Letter to a Countess | Bizfluent Sophie, Countess of Wessex, joined the royal family in and has since become one of the Queen's closest confidantes. The Countess has also been given access to some of Her Majesty's jaw-dropping tiaras. From the Anthemion topper, worn on her wedding day, to not one, but two stunning aquamarine headpieces, we took a look back at the Countess' most memorable tiara moments. At her wedding to Prince Edward, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, sported the Anthemion tiara, which quickly became one of her most-worn headpieces. The Other Countess tiara came from The Other Countess Queen's private jewelry collection, and The Other Countess given to Sophie for her wedding The Other Countess. The name "Anthemion" reflects the accessory's design, as the anthemion shape consists of radiating petals, similar to a fan. The delicate headpiece is thought to have been a loan, as the Countess has not worn it since. For the Danish royal wedding in The Other Countess, Sophie brought out the Anthemion tiara. She paired the stunning topper with a hot pink off-the-shoulder gown and tiny crown-shaped diamond earrings. The stunning piece features a jaw- dropping central aquamarine stone. While its origins are not entirely clear, the piece was reportedly custom-made for Sophie by G. The Other Countess best part about the Aquamarine Tiara? It's convertible. She showed off the statement piece by pairing it with a simple, plunging neckline.

Her love of colour and festive trimmings, largely forgotten, was subsumed in her own presentation of her tragic condition after Prince Albert’s death. The exhibition in 2010 at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace, on Victoria and Albert as collectors, showed by contrast the happy days of her marriage, when her jewels, rather than commemorating death, reflected her relationship with her husband and family.1 This essay looks at the story of Victoria and Albert through the jewellery they commissioned, gave to each other and wore on every kind of occasion.

  • Palmerston's Fifth Column, USA
f 2 Palmerston's Fifth Column, USA The assassination bureau Narcotics traffic was the business of organized crime during the 19th century no less than in the 20th, and Britain's Opium War cabinet spun out a web of criminal connections that crisscrossed the globe. Prime Minister Palmerston conducted the opium business behind a screen of respectability. in full public view. What remained hidden - until the report of the Military Commission that heard evidence on the Lincoln Assassination was the importance of Palmerston's secret life, as Patriarch of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. It does not surprise the modern student that the perpetrators of the narcotics traffic show up in every element of the dirty side of 19th century politics. including presidential assassinations. But the extent of the web of criminal networks put in place by Palmerston could have come out of a Gothic horror story. Amer ican counterintelligence specialists of the time, such as Edgar Allan Poe and Samuel Morse (1), knew the problem well. Palmerston's irregulars, employed in illegal dope trafficking, d 26 DOPE, INC. assassinations, and "Fifth Column" subversions against the United States in the period before and during the Civil War, are the linear ancestors of what is now called organized crime. The Chinese "Triads," or Societies of Heaven; the Order of Zion and its American spinoff, the B'nai B'rith; "Young Italy," whose Sicilian law enforcement arm became known as the Mafia; the Jesuit Order based in decaying Hapsburg Austria; Mikhail Bakunin's bomb-throwing anarchist gangs; and nearly every other inhabitant of Britain's political netherworld followed a chain of command that led through the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry directly to Lord Palmerston and his successors.
