Despite a significant increase in the number of library websites in Pakistan, the development of multilingual library websites is still in its infancy stages and doesn’t cater to the needs of diverse population of its users. The study provides first-hand findings on the multilinguality of library websites in Pakistan with a focus on challenges and opportunities arising from such websites. Implications of research along with future research directions are also discussed. Keywords––Language Barriers, Library Websites, Multilingual Websites, Machine Translation. I. INTRODUCTION Language barriers are natural in human communication. In cross border communication, these barriers not only include dominance of a particular language (e.g. English) but also the increasingly multilingual the Internet [(David Crystal 2001); (Becker 2007)]. Since beginning of the last decade, the multilinguality on the Internet has sharply increased with online content available in hundreds of languages [(Crystal 2006); (Kelsey 2011)]. This increased multilinguality has created new challenges for language barriers. In order to facilitate the multilingual users to effectively navigate, search, filter, and retrieve the multilingual content from the library websites, various stakeholders need to do collective efforts [(Dubois 1979);(Yunker 2002); (Tixier 2005); (Becker 2007); (Diekema 2012)].

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful Address by DR HUSSEIN A. GEZAIRY REGIONAL DIRECTOR WHO EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN REGION to the SPECIAL CONVOCATION, BAQAI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, AND THIRD CONVOCATION OF BAQAI MEDICAL AND DENTAL COLLEGES FOR THE AWARD OF DEGREES BY THE UNIVERSITY OF KARACHI Karachi, Pakistan, 23 February 2001 Your Excellency the President of Pakistan, Your Excellency the Governor of Sindh, Your Excellency the Vice-Chancellor of Baqai Medical University, Dear colleagues, members of the faculty staff, Students and parents, Ladies and gentlemen Assalamu Alaykom wa Rahmatollahy wa Barakatoh It is a great pleasure to be included among this august gathering, headed by His Excellency the President of Pakistan, and to share with you 2 this joyful occasion. I am deeply grateful to have been chosen for the honour of receiving the degree of Doctorate in Sciences from your esteemed university. Since its first batch of students enrolled in 1988, Baqai Medical College, later Baqai Medical University, has been highly regarded by WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean. The innovative community-oriented programme adopted by the college was one of the earliest initiatives towards the reform of medical education in Pakistan. The push for reform in medical colleges all over the world has stemmed from growing awareness of the drawbacks and shortcomings of the existing system of medical education. Curriculum change is necessary when there is a lack of relevant medical response to community needs. Effective and relevant training methods are needed, and must be selected and implemented in accordance with current evidence-based education. Such learning strategies need to address competency in work as well as lifelong learning in order to deal with the fast-moving developments in medical professions.

Quaid-i-Azam’s Visit to the Southern Districts of NWFP 1 ∗ ∗∗ Muhammad Aslam Khan & Muhammad Shakeel Ahmad Abstract In this paper an attempt has been made to explore the detailed achievements of Quaid-i-Azam’s visit to southern NWFP i.e Kohat, Bannu and DI. Khan. Historians always focused on Quiad’s visit to central NWFP like Islamia College Peshawar, Edward College Peshawar, Landikotal and other places, but they have missed to highlight his visit to southern NWFP. Quaid-i-Azam visited all the three Southern districts Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan of NWFP on very short notice. Therefore no proper security arrangements were made and media did not give proper coverage to his visit. The details of Quaid’s visit to Southern NWFP is still unexplored by historians. This paper is a new addition on the existing literature on Quaid-i-Azam. Keywords: Quaid-i-Azam, NWFP, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, Pakistan To Pakistanis, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, is their George Washington, their de Gaulle and their Churchill . Quaid-i-Azam visited NWFP thrice in his life span. For the first time, Quaid arrived in Peshawar on Sunday, the 18th of October 1936 2 and stayed for a week from 18th to the 24th of October at the Mundiberi residence of Sahibzada Abdul Qayum Khan 3. The political situations in the province were quite blurred at that time. Quaid visited Edward College and Islamia College Peshawar. He listened to the opinions of people from all shades of life and had friendly exchange of views with all of them.

This study was carried out on 100 overweight children, age between 5-16 years of either gender. Patients were selected according to their life style and history of diabetes. Their Body Mass Index (BMI), and waist hip ratio (W/H) was measured by following the criteria of the national heart lung and blood institute. Normal ranges of BMI and waist hip ratios of children are same as adults but calculation is different. BMI and waist hip ratio in children is calculated by Z score. Fasting blood sugar (FBS),insulin and insulin resistance were analyzed in both genders separately. The statistical analysis of anthropometrics study was noted in both the genders of children. It was observed that body mass index was slightly increased in boys 28.05± 0.33 than girls 27.94± 0.34with non-significant P value (P >0.05), whereas W/H was significantly increases in girls 1.399± 0.08 when compared with boys1.89± 0.074, but with non-significant P value (P >0.05).
