Principal’s Message Official Opening of the Walk To School/Healthy October Month On Monday the Shire of Gannawarra officially opened the Walk To School/Healthy October program at Lake Charm. The students did a great job preparing posters, a video and various activities to enhance the occasion. The Program was officially launched by Shire Councillor Neil Gannon, who cut the red ribbon that Jacob had organised. The students, parents and guests heard about the importance of exercise and healthy eating, and participated in a fun veil dance and Jump rope, shared a fruit and vegetable platter, richly supplemented with snow peas from the garden. The students under the leadership of Jacob and Jukal produced a ‘horror’ video on the evils of soft drinks and Bree and Tegan got the whole crowd rocking with a rendition of ‘Let’s Get Physical!’ Lake Charm was selected to host the opening as a recognition of our work in participating in and promoting Healthy October last year. This was a great honour. Councillor Neil Gannon and his wife Elvie were presented with a dozen eggs from our chooks which was rather fitting as Neil officially opened our chook house last year. Thank you to the Shire of Gannawarra, Councillor Neil Gannon, Narelle O’Donoghue (Manager of Community Health) who coordinates the event, Tanya Maher-Toose who spoke on the importance of exercise and good diet and Pia Frisby from the Gannawarra Library Service who lead the Bollywood Dance session. Fun Run and Footy Day On Friday we will be conducting the Fun Run commencing at around 10am. After recess we will have our annual Footy match……so we will need as many Dads and Mums to come along to have a kick. The students and adults will partake of a footy theme lunch before we pack up by 1:30 ready for a well-deserved two weeks vacation. Thursday lunch On Thursday we will partake of an end of term lunch at the Lake Charm store. Students meals will be paid for by the school. The cost for non-students is $6 a head. Parents, grand parents and friends are encouraged to attend. Any adults who are interested in going should contact the shop direct a.s.a.p. Lunch will start around 1:30. Kerang Show Please note that this year we will be taking the Kerang Show Holiday on Tuesday October 4th. Mrs Noonan(Michelle)/Donna We trust that Michelle is having a great time in Canada and we look forward to hearing of her adventures on her return. Donna has also been away the last couple of weeks. We also look forward to her return. Wanted one footy jumper Mr.M forgot to pack a footy jumper on the weekend so if anyone has a spare jumper (any team-preferably black and red) please send it to school on Thursday or Friday morning. What’s happening in the classroom Preparing for our Healthy October/Walk To School Official Opening kept us very busy on Thursday and Friday. The students are really looking forward to the Fun Run and Football Day on Friday. This week we had Kylie Cummins join our teaching staff for a couple of days. Kylie really enjoyed her time with us. Jukal and Bree have both qualified in a number of events for the third round of the Athletics. Hopefully the rain will have eased enough for the Regional Athletics to go ahead this week.
