Jeff Millard & James Sait FUNDRAISING Earn & Learn Stickers – Woolies Don’t forget to ask at the checkout for your stickers. Future Events We will be holding a Trivia night on 17th October, start organising your tables of 10 now. Cost will be $15.00 per person, loads of prizes and fun on the night. These nights are a lot of fun as well as raising much needed funds for our school. Pop-up Market will be held on 29th November.

Online Newsletter In Term 4 we would like to trial emailing the newsletter to as many families as possible instead of families receiving a hardcopy. We hope this will reduce the monetary cost of the newsletter but also reduce our environmental footprint at school, something we strive hard for. If the school doesn’t already have your families email, could you please speak to Jeff or James or email [email protected]

Dictionaries - The dictionary is a book full of all different words. The dictionary is used for helping you find out what all the different words are. If you do not know a word the dictionary can help you. It will tell you what the word means and will give you a definition, or it will give you the word and another word like it. The dictionary can help many kids. Even your parents will use the dictionary, because they don’t know a word.

When you look at a dictionary you will think that there are lots of words. The latest dictionary has 1,888 pages, so have a think how many words does it have altogether!

I use the dictionary to find out what a word means, and if I don’t know what the word even is.

That is why the dictionary is very useful. You can use it in many different ways. So I should see more students using a

dictionary when you don’t know a word. So dictionaries are AMAZING!!! By Bree Cordina.

Koalas - Koalas are cute and cuddly. They live in trees with their family .They eat gumnuts and gum leaves. They are always in the trees and only go onto the ground to get water and to move to other trees to find new leaves. They live with their mother until they are old enough to look after themselves. They are Australian animals. When it is cold they sleep all day and night. In Summer they are asleep most of the time and they shed some of their fur. They will only attack if you hurt them and if you do not hurt

them you will be all right, and if you are careful you can hold them.

My opinions:

The zoo keepers in Dubbo let me hold a mother koala and it fell asleep on me. It was soft and cuddly. It

felt happy and safe. By Tegan Cuthbert.

Steam Engines - Steam was at the beginning of nearly everything we use today. Trains to cars to trucks all started off as inventions powered by steam. These days only enthusiasts keep working steam models. Steam models are expensive to run and are high maintenance. Steam engines require lots of parts to be bought and kept in working order.

Mamod is a popular brand in England and Australia because they have a wide range of models from stationary engines to

traction engines and steam trucks. Stationary engines are models that run on your bench and can also run pieces of mini

machinery like grinders, presses and drills, which are really cool to watch, but there are also a lot of other items that the engine can run off a single crankshaft.

There are also traction engines and steam trucks which can run on the ground and push themselves about on the floor. If you want them to they can also run like stationary engines and power the workshop tools.

There are also a lot of forums which are dedicated to discussing and helping with ideas and projects that you are working on and they can be a great help. By Jack Whorwood.
