Auditions! If you are a Palmerton student entering grades 6 through 9 who loves to act, sing, and dance we would love for you to audition for our September production of Disney’s Aladdin, Jr! The score includes favorites like “Friend Like Me,” “A Whole New World,” and “Prince Ali” as well as many others. The show will be performed at the Palmerton High School, on September 17th and 18th of 2021. Please be aware that if you audition and receive a role, you are committing to the rehearsal schedule, the performance dates, and to memorizing all of your lines, music, and choreography. Because our rehearsal schedule is only 6 weeks, we will also be enforcing a strict three absence policy. After three absences, your role will become eligible for recasting.
When: Auditions will be held on Saturday, July 31st from 9 am to 1 pm. They will be on a first come, first serve basis and you’re free to leave immediately after. Where: Palmerton High School Auditorium

Sept. 17th and 18th at 7 p.m. (Call Time 5 p.m.) - Strike/Cast Part: September 19th from 10-2pm
Character Breakdown- Each of the characters listed below requires strong acting, singing and some movement. There will be a large ensemble cast as well, that will be featured as Prince Ali’s Entourage, the Genie’s Ensemble, Palace Guards (2), Shop Owner, Fortune Teller, and Apple Vendor.
Aladdin- a poor street rat turned prince Jasmine- Princess of Agrabah Genie- Fun loving center of attention Sultan- Warm, Kind Ruler of Agrabah, Jasmine’s Dad Jafar- Power hungry villian Babkak, Omar, & Kassim- Aladdin’s Best Friends Lago- Jafars evil sidekick Isir, Manal, & Rajah- Jasmine’s devoted attendants Prince Abdullah- Wealthy Prince from far away Attendants (2)- Accompany Prince Abdullah Cave of Wonders Voice- Lures Aladdin into the Cave Spooky Voice- Works for Jafar, locates the lamp. Razoul- Head of the Palace Guards Beggars (3) – Interact with Aladdin.

This is a cattle call style audition where everyone will be singing/reading the same material. When you arrive, you will sign in. Auditions will be conducted in the order of the sign in sheet and after you have auditioned, you may leave. Please be sure to complete the Audition Form and send it with your child.
1. All students will sing the first verse and chorus of ‘A Whole New World Reprise’ (0:00 to 1:30 in the recordings provided). 2. If you are auditioning for the Genie, you will also sing the first verse and chorus of ‘Friend Like Me’ (0:00 to 1:10 in the recordings provided). 3. Monologues – Everyone auditioning must select and deliver one of the following sections of dialogue from the script.

Jasmine “Father? I told him the truth: that if he marries me, he’ll get an equal partner with an equal say. Why do I even have to marry at all? What’s wrong with a woman running the kingdom? If I have to marry someone I don’t love, then maybe I don’t want to be a princess anymore.”
Aladdin “Steal? I don't know what you're talking about, Kassim. That's all behind me now, Omar. I promised my parents before they died that I'd never steal again. Food doesn't count. A guy's gotta eat. I don't know, Kassim. When people see me, I don't want the first thing they think to be ‘thief.’”
Jafar “The key to a lamp that contains an all-powerful genie! Once I have it in my grasp, worries about the Princess’s suitors will be a distant memory. I’ll have the entire kingdom at my mercy! Rules of the darkest night, Grant us now a second sight. Guards of storms and angry tides, Show us where the lamp resides! And who is this Diamond in the Rough? Once we’ve got that boy, we’ve got our lamp! And I will finally be Sultan of Agrabah!”
Genie “Hello everybody! Did ya miss me? Hallucinating? Impossible! I may be dreamy, but I’m no hallucination. Who am I? Who am I? Isn’t it obvious? The Genie is here! No, I’m from Cleveland. Of course I’m from inside the lamp! And you are the master of said lamp, so you get three wishes! And I thought the echo in the lamp was bad! Try to keep up, kid! I got a production number to get to! That’s right! But ixnay on wishing for more wishes. You got a name, kid? Mind if I call you Al... Al?
