The first is the General Election; the second is the novena of prayer, Thy Kingdom Come, that leads us from Ascension Day to Pentecost. These two events are closely linked for us as Christians individually and corporately as the Church. As Christians, we have an important contribution to make in the election. First, it is the assertion that having a vote is a statement of the mutual recognition of dignity in our society. In this respect, we are equal, each of us having one vote.
