Curbar Parish Statement (draft)

Curbar village is east of , just across the River Derwent and approximately 1.5 miles north of and Bubnell along the Baslow Road (A623). The majority of the village is located up Curbar Hill. The eastern end, which adjoins Calver, is where the village facilities are located, including a primary school. The villages of Curbar and Calver share their facilities. Curbar has two Conservation Areas, the main village area on Curbar Hill Photo needed here designated in 1996 and the eastern side, adjacent to Calver and the River Derwent designated in 1999. The Conservation Area Appraisal describes Curbar as a farming community with a grouping of farmsteads close to the water supply and crossroads. Curbar Gap, to the east of the village is a local viewing point for tourists walking along Curbar Edge. A catering van visits at the weekends. Curbar is part of the Derwent Valley, an area characterised by slopes and valleys within woodlands in the Landscape Characteristic Assessment (LSAP 2009). Curbar Parish Statement (draft)
