PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Well, the success of this year was a little unexpected!
As a growing club, it’s extremely satisfying to be able to say that this year was again better than the previous. This year was the first year we fielded two U15 teams which again shows how the progression of our junior program growing and developing as the juniors stick with what is a very successful program. Much thanks to Jenny Buersch (B1) and Jenny Blenkinsop (B2) for their fantastic work again this year.
It’s also with no surprise that senior success, in the form of reaching finals for both A grade and B grade, is underpinned by the quick succession of previous U15s into the big time throughout the grades. Jon Ferris as A-grade captain has done a tremendous job with his team and the entire squad in being as successful as we have been this year. It’s incredibly fulfilling seeing the plan that started out some five years ago of creating a Junior program to compliment our Senior program coming to fruition.
We welcomed a number of new players to the club this year as well as welcomed back some familiar faces which is great to see. Both C-grade and D-grade have been instrumental in welcoming new players and helping them feel part of the Rambler community. Both teams showed glimpses of the great talent that exists in those grades as well as fantastic teamwork and support for the club. In particular, I thank Brett Chilton and Steve Davenport for taking on the captaincy roles once more – both ably assisted by veterans Scott Brodie and Mark Withers as their respective vice-captains.
Off the field we held another very successful Quiz night where we raised approximately $4,000 for improving of the older nets at Weymouth Oval. We were again successful in raising further funds via various grants and we’ve begun discussions for further infrastructure improvements at our grounds. Underpinning this is our long-terms major sponsor of Skyworld Contractors (Kevin O’Looney) who continues to support the club fantastically well. Other sponsors include Blackwood Butcher with their weekly meat tray raffle, Promotions r Us (Steve Davenport) sponsoring the quiz night as well as a number of others located on our website – please support them as they support us.
A big thank you to the Committee as the driving force behind making the club what it is. Lots of time and effort goes into running a club this size and I thank each and every one of you for that – Scott Brodie as Secretary, Jarrad Benson as Treasurer, Jenny Buersch as Junior Co-ordinator; Kingsley Smith as Senior Co-ordinator; Caleb Blesing as Events Co-ordinator; Ben Scott as Volunteer Co-ordinator; Andrew Strunk as Equipment Officer along with Jon Ferris & Jenny Blenkinsop rounding out the committee. Matt Smith also deserves a big mention as he continues to do a lot of work behind the scenes for BBQs and other functions.
Finally – a big thank you to our great community of players, partners, parents and friends who make the club what it is. I’m incredibly proud of who we are as a club and look forward to more success in the coming seasons!

JUNIORJUNIOR COORDINATOR’S REPORT REPORT
Another year has finished for our juniors at Coromandel Ramblers Cricket Club and we are still finding the Ramblers, a strong junior club with 5 teams and a new T20 Blast program for our Under 9’s by Milo In2Cricket for all boys and girls aged between 4 – 8 years of age. This year found us with 2 Under 15’s teams, 2 Under 13’s teams, 1 Under 11 team and 2 keen Under 9’s boys participating in the new program of T20 Blast.
We started the 2014/2015 season with teams running short with players but slowly we had new faces coming out to the Ramblers and joining in. We had to move a lot of players around for the first couple of weeks to fill teams. I have to say I am very proud of the way the juniors handled themselves when asked to play in a higher grade or to move from their friends who they have played with for a few seasons to help out. I would also like to thank the parents as well as I know that moving players around can be hard at times.
We had steady numbers for the Milo In2Cricket program again as we had a new coordinator, James Wilson joining us for the 10 week program. Hopefully we will see these boys and girls in the future playing in our A grade team.
Obviously with every team we enter into the Association, we also need the help of many parents to take on roles within the club to make sure the teams run smoothly and the juniors have direction and help to improve their skills. This year I would like to thank Andrew Strunk, Darren Parker, Justin Rowley, Peter Blenkinsop, Matt Warren, Andrew O’Keefe and Craig Lidstone for taking on the coaching roles for the 2014/2015 season. Every year I hand out rosters for BBQ duty, scoring and set up for game day and every year I have the parents helping out in these areas, thank you for all your assistance in the year as I really do appreciate it. I would also like to take the time to thank the following people that have helped me by collecting meat, helping out on registration day, helping with setting up for quiz night and the junior presentation night and other various jobs that I ask of them, Shelley O’Driscoll, Jane Woodley, Julie Croft, Jenny Blenkinsop, Mandy O’Keefe and Mark Penn, thank you.
Please also take the time to visit some of our sponsors, as without them, we would be paying higher fees. Kevin O’Looney from Skyworld Outdoor Blinds is once again our major sponsor for the club. We also have other sponsors that also need to be recognised including, Blackwood Butchers, Joan’s Pantry, Intersport, IUGO, Promotions R Us and Banner at Blackwood, thank you for your support during the year. So if you need any of their services over the coming months please give them a call.
I have been involved with the Coromandel Ramblers for 6 years whether it was being a parent at the start, taking on rostering for the BBQ duty and now having completed 4 years as the Junior Coordinator which I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. I have seen people come and go and I have also seen the juniors from 6 years ago build friendships, improve on all aspects of the game and hopefully in the future see them playing in the A grade. I am very proud of all the juniors for the way they conduct themselves on and off the field, not only did they clap of their own team mates but they also showed the respect to clap off the opposition, as parents you should be very proud of them.
I hope that each and every one of you has enjoyed the 2014/2015 season at the Coromandel Valley Ramblers Cricket Club. As a club, I hope that we have helped develop your cricket game further and provided you with plenty of opportunities to socialise and to make new friendships. I wish you well in your winter activities and see you in September. Don’t forget to come to the AGM as we would love to see more of you volunteering to make the junior program the best there is to offer in the association.

TROPHIES AND AWARDS 2014/15 A.R. BENSON - A GRADE PLAYER OF THE YEAR Congratulations to young Harry Telford for being voted the A.R. Benson A Grade Player of the Year. Harry still only 17 and doing Year 12 played his first full season of A Grade cricket. The season started well for him taking six wickets in the first game against ICC Sharks which included a hat trick. Harry had 3 best on grounds in the A Grade as well as a best on ground in the C Grade where he took 5 wickets against Belair. This season Harry took 23 wickets in A Grade with hauls of 6/16 (inc hat trick),5/19 and 4/25 in the A Grade. Harry also represented the Association U21 side. Let’s hope that Harry and some of the other young cricketers in the club stick around the club for many seasons to come as they all have great futures ahead of them. Well done Harry. Scott Brodie Secretary
LEN KENYON MEMORIAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR Congratulations to Steve ’Davo’ Davenport for being the inaugural winner of the Len Kenyon Memorial Player of the Year Award. This season the committee agreed that our Player of the Year Award should be named after our club legend in Len Kenyon. It is fitting that Steve should receive this award as he has only recently passed Len’s run tally in the last couple of seasons also passing 11 000 runs this season. Steve once again captained our D Grade side hoping that there would be some junior players coming up to seniors. This did not happen this season, but let’s hope there are some next season, to keep our junior development in the senior’s going. The D Grade had mixed season as they had two forfeits and a bye, plus wash outs and games heated out. Steve only played 6.5 games in the D Grade this season scoring 355 runs at an average of 50 with 1 century, plus 108 runs in the C Grade. Steve had 15 votes in the D Grade and 3 votes in the C Grade ending up with 18 votes from 9.5 games in front of Harry Telford with 12 votes and Daniel ‘Pablo’ Keese with 10. Well done Steve. SCOTT BRODIE 200 GAMES
Scott started at the Club in 1994/95, playing his first season in the C grade with Brett Chilton. Scott has gone on to hit 6 C Grade hundreds and one D Grade hundred, also won the C grade Batting Trophy 5 times seeing him listed at Number 11 in the Club’s all-time run scorers. He has also won the Captain’s Trophy and Fielding Trophy. Despite his little darting spinners, only the bowling Trophy still eludes him. Scott has played 2 A Grade games and a season or two in B Grade.
Scott has been a Life Member of the Club since 2009 but to his credit he has been an active committee member serving as Secretary of the Club since 2012/13. Whether on the committee or not, Scott has always done little things around the Club to help out resulting in him being awarded the Club person of the year in 2001-02.
Congratulations Scott on reaching 200 games. Whilst there is talk of retirement, we hope to see you out again for a few more seasons yet. Jarrad Benson Treasurer
LIFE MEMBERS 150 GAMES
GLEN ROSIE In season 1992/93 Tony Benson went on a recruiting spree at Blackwood High School by finding lads that his son Jarrad was friends with, or at least thought he was friends with. Glen Rosie fitted one of these categories (which one depends on who you ask) and he subsequently burst onto the Ramblers scene as a “Man-Child” in the D Grade at 14 years of age. “Big G”, as he was affectionately known, played in 6 games in his first season amassing a mighty 9 runs @ an average of 2.3. Fortunately Big G had mastered bowling a little better and picked up a useful 12 wickets @ 24.7 (enough to win the D Grade bowling trophy) and even held 2 catches and assisted in 2 run- outs. His first stint at the Ramblers was short lived with a call-up to Sturt District the following year. In 94/95 he returned bigger and better than ever taking 17 wickets in only 6 games @ 11.0 (again winning the D Grade bowling trophy) and making 59 runs @ 29.5. The following seasons saw Glen playing limited games with the Ramblers until 97/98 when he returned in full and managed to take 6/21 in the second round of B’s and go on to win the bowling trophy with 25 wickets, win the Most Promising Junior (yes 19 year olds were juniors in the 90s) and gain selection in the A Grade for the first time. Glen again won the B Grade bowling trophy in 98/99. By the mid-2000s Glen was a regular opening bowler for the Ramblers A Grade including the 2005/06 season where we finished undefeated minor premiers. At this time he stood for President and completed 5 years in the role including the 06/07 season jointly as treasurer. After a 3 year break from Presidency (though still involved with the committee), Glen again returned to President in 2012/13 and has completed another 3 years in the role. In 2012/13 he also ventured down to the D Grade to assist our first batch of juniors cricketers coming through from our junior program. In this season he smacked 2 centuries and won the club Player of the Year. To date Glen has seven 5 wicket hauls and 2 centuries to his name on his journey of accumulating 153 games,1309 runs & 234 wickets for the club. Few can claim to have given more service over the years and for that we say thank you and well done Glen Rosie. Matt Smith
JONATHON HILDITCH
Jon “Long Boy” Hilditch has been a Rambler since bursting onto the scene in 1993/94 as a 15 year old bowler and being one of the Tony Benson D-grade junior crew of that era. Playing 11 games in his inaugural season, Jon took 6/274 @ an average of 45.7 and made 72 runs @ an average of 12. Didn’t take long for Jon to get the hang of things, and by his second season, he’d already won the D-grade bowling trophy, this time taking 17/279 @ a very respectable 16.4 and coming 22nd in the club player of the year award – ahead of names such as Gyprock; Matt Smith; Glen Rosie; Jarrad Benson and one guy no stranger to the player of the year award – Mark Withers. (On a side note, the guy who won it had a reasonable year – 411 runs and took 24 wickets. Nicely done, Brett Chilton) By his third year at the club, this whole cricket thing was coming easy to young Long Boy. Jon won the bowling trophy with an impressive 26 wickets as well as 2nd in the batting with 253 runs including his first half-century for the club. As you’d expect, this resulted in the Most Promising Junior award for 1995/96. And most promising young Jon was. The very next year in his first year in B grade and as an 18 year old, Jon takes home the B grade bowling trophy with an impressive 23 wickets and made a respectable 145 runs. Since then, Jon’s won a double-wicket competition; played A-grade cricket; won another B-grade bowling trophy; somehow won a B-grade fielding trophy; a captain’s trophy; taken five 5-wicket hauls; in the top 50 for all-time run scorers with 1822 runs; top 20 all- time wicket taker with 223 and been on the committee for a number of years. Around the club, Jon’s known for a few of his quirks. He has been known to resemble a tea-pot as he chases down a ball as he holds his hat and runs. He’s also a devout vegetarian - as is his dog as one member quickly found out. He’s an accomplished musician. He operates on Jon-time where things seem to slow down to the pace that Jon sets. He hits a very long ball and is probably one of our more correct batsman. He knows when to say it’s his birthday in certain circumstances and enjoy the benefits. Above all, he’s played 150 games and is a true Rambler – congratulations Jon on your Life Membership! Glen Rosie - President GLEN WATCHMAN CLUB PERSON OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to Jarrad Benson for being the recipient of the Glen Watchman Club Person of the Year. Once again Jarrad has a busy time season doing many things around the club which makes him a deserved winner of this award. Jarrad basically ran the Milo in2cricket program this season as the coordinator was on the unreliable side, he was successful in organising several grants for upgrading our training facilities with assistance from Glen Rosie and Andrew Strunk. At training he is always feeding balls into the bowling machine or out organising fielding drills. Jarrad has also organised the club merchandise, cooked the BBQ and restocked the fridge after the BBQ’s as well as being the Club Treasurer. The club definitely needs more people around like Jarrad as many of these duties would not get done. Well done Jarrad. Scott Brodie Secretary
HAYDEN HILL MOST PROMISING JUNIOR A big congratulation goes to one of the youngest members of the Ramblers squad, Harry Telford. Not only have we witnessed some of the best fast bowling spells seen for a few years but we have also seen Harry develop into a fantastic young man. Harry played 3 games for the A grade last season as a 16 year old and returned this season to really develop into one of the best bowlers in section 1, finishing 5th overall in the leading wicket takers for our competition and up until the final few rounds was sitting on top of the ladder.First game of the season was something I will not forget for a while with Harry collecting bowling figures of 6-16 against ICC Sharks which included a hat-trick. Harry then went onto collecting another 5 wickets in an innings against Morphettville Park in round 5 (5/19) and another 5WI in the C grade when he filled in (5/38) We can see that our mate Harry has really enjoyed himself this year and he will only improve from here with his batting taking more positive steps in the right direction this year – Harry batted at No 8 in our batting order but I believe he will turn into a very destructive middle order batsman if he keeps improving at the current rate.Once again congratulations to Harry on a fantastic season with the ball and taking out our leading wicket taker. Jon Ferris A Grade Captain
DAVID FERRIS MOST IMPROVED PLAYER –TRENT MOREY
In 2013/14 Trent played 10 games in the C grade and took 14 wickets. This season, Trent has played 9 games in the B grade taking 14 wickets, as well as playing 4 games in the A grade with 4 wickets. Those that have played with Trent know he likes a laugh and is always good for a joke. He’s no mug with the bat and always put in 100% when in the field. Most impressively though has been his approach this season to training. Trent has worked hard on his bowling and has become a far more consistent bowler. We look forward to seeing Trent progress more in coming seasons. Congratulations Trent. Jarrad Benson - Treasurer
DUCK CLUB
For this season’s Duck Club we had 37 players claiming 53 ducks for season down on last season of 39 players with 63 ducks. This season we only had eleven players claim two ducks or more. There was one with four ducks, two with three and the other eight with two ducks. The Captain of the 2014/15 Coromandel Valley Ramblers Cricket Club Duck Club is awarded to Josh ‘Archie’ Haussen with three ducks from the first the first three innings of the season and one in round ten which made Archie a walk up choice. His Vice Captain goes to Leigh ‘Kanga’ Porter who only had two ducks but was out first ball to South Road in round one and also out for a fourth ball against South Road in round 10 was caught behind of the bowling of a ‘GIRL’. The side in batting order: Unfortunately I have to put myself Scott ‘Gringo’ Brodie in with two ducks for the season as one of the openers with Daniel ‘Pablo’ Keese as the Deputy Vice Captain as he had a second ball duck in round two then in round eight he had a golden duck when he went out to bat with no pads after turning up to the game with pads on. At number 3 is our captain Josh ‘Archie’ Haussen. At 4 is Blake Willson who claimed three ducks in his first season of A Grade for the Club. Number 5 is our Vice Captain Leigh ‘Kanga’ Porter. Our wicketkeeper Andrew O’Keefe comes in at number 6 with 3 ducks, one in the A Grade and two in the B’s. Our allrounder this season is Sam Donnelly who claimed one each in A and B Grades comes in at 7. At number 8 is the A Grade Player of the Year and Most Promising Junior young Harry Telford. Making another appearance in the Duck Club with two ducks is Dan ‘Hayesy’ Hayes at number 9. Number 10 is Jeremy ‘BT, Jez, Brissell‘ Rochow who two ducks after playing in A, B and C Grade’s this season. Rounding out the 11 is Zac Howell with two ducks. I was not going to have 12th Man as there were many who only had one duck for the season, but when this player made fun of me when he found out I made a duck, went out to bat in the B Grade and was run out for ‘Diamond Duck’ by Trent Morey is Geoff ‘Wifey’ Stanley. Scott Brodie Secretary
BBQ PERSON OF THE YEAR Congratulations to Josh ‘Archie Haussen for being named the BBQ Person of the Year for season 2014/15. Archie was present at a committee meeting and suggested that we should have different food nights on selection nights rather than BBQ all the time. Archie organised a hamburger night, a yiros night and hotdog night as well as cooking the odd BBQ throughout the season. Archie also stored the BBQ trailer at his house as well as towing the BBQ trailer in the Blackwood Christmas Parade. Well Done ‘Archie’.
Scott Brodie Secretary
A GRADE CAPTAIN’S REPORT Hello to all players and members. I would like to start by thanking the Club and all committee members for allowing me the opportunity to captain the A grade for a 2nd season and one that I am grateful for. 2014/15 is a season which I hope we can all look back on positively given we had 1 outright win, 4 wins, 3 drawn games due to heat or rain and 3 loses resulting with us finishing in 3rd spot and playing finals. This season our success has been due to a team first attitude and I have to say it has been one of my most enjoyable seasons so far with our feeling around the A and B grade squads improving and changing for the better. Competition for spots not only in the A grade but in the B grade resulted in 19 different players being used in the A grade this season and it is a fantastic position for the club to see new faces pushing into the teams. We had an opportunity to play finals this year due to our form before Christmas (normally at the end of the season if we miss finals we look back and make comments about the loses before Christmas costing us), I believe a big part of this was due to our main bowling team, which consisted of Harry Telford (23 wickets @ 14.5 average), Kingsley Smith (21 @ 16.5), Caleb Blesing (15 @ 18.1) and Sam Davenport (11 @ 14.8) with a number of other players also contributing with wickets. Our bowlers took 103 wickets in the minor rounds of the season making us the most successful bowling team in section 1.Batting once again is an area where we need to lift considering we only had 2 players make over 200 runs for the season. This is an area we need to improve if we want to experience the ultimate success of winning a premiership. Jon Ferris (319 runs @ 35.4 average), Jarrad Benson (211 @ 23.4), Matt Smith (176 @ 35.2) and Fabian King (161 @ 32.2) were our top performers. The best teams in our competition have consistency and depth in their batting and this will be key to us winning more games. This season we saw a number of new players in the A grade and it was fantastic to see the likes of Harry Telford, Sam Donnelly, Lochie Watchman, Blake Willson, Fabian King and Trent Morey making the most of their opportunities and if we do not see any players leave I believe this will be an exciting number of years for the Ramblers with the right mix of youth and experience in our team for us to be continuously involved in finals. Finals experience for our group despite not winning against eventual Premiers Cove will provide us with confidence given we were more than competitive against the better teams in our competition this year and with a lot of young players in our team we will be able to build on this. I would like to thank Josh Haussen for being Vice Captain and providing me with a lot of advice along with Caleb Blesing, Jarrad Benson and Matt Smith, who as the senior members of the team provided me with experience and advice when required. Moving forward I believe we have the right group of players to take this team further into the finals series and we can only improve on what we have produced this year – consistency is something we need to build on and we are not far away for being one of the best teams in the competition. In closing a big part of our success was the majority of our players being involved in the preseason trainings and I think that was reflective of the way we started the season and I look forward to seeing everyone out before the start of the 2015/16 season looking to build on what we produced this year.
Cheers Jon Ferris

B GRADE CAPTAIN’S REPORT
It was my first time captaining a team this year and I thoroughly enjoyed it. You couldn’t hope to captain a better bunch of blokes. We had a great mix of experience and youth which led us to finish 3rd at the end of the regular season and losing by a solitary wicket in the semi-final. We dominated our home games winning all five games by plenty. Six times we bowled out the opposition for under 70 and made over 200 four times. However, we couldn’t pull it all together against the better sides with four of our five losses just falling short by a combined 2 wickets and 21 runs. The fifth loss is one we’ll remember for next year! We had some 27 players come through the team this year and at some point, each and every player had an important role to play. Whether it take a key wicket; hold up an end or take a critical catch – every single player had at least one point in the season that they showed why they deserved to be there. The hardest part of captaining this group was saying goodbye to those going on to bigger things in A-grade or having to leave some incredibly unlucky guys out of the team each game. One of the hardest things I’ve had to do was to tell a couple of good mates that I couldn’t fit them into the finals team whom are as much a part of this team as anyone else. There were some standouts this year. With the ball - Geoff Stanley with 28 wickets @ 8.5 was just sensational all year including the best spell this year with 5/11. Stanners had great partners at the other end of the pitch with Jon Hilditch taking 22 wickets @ 11.1; Trent Morey came on in leaps and bounds this year with 14 wickets @ 14.8 just in B-grade plus more in the As and I cherry- picked some tail enders with 14 wickets @ 13.7. Leigh Simpson lead the way with the bat with 332 runs @ 33.2 including a great unbeaten century; Andrew O’Keefe backed up last year’s great effort with 213 runs @ 30.43; Nick Work made his maiden 100 on his way to 185 runs @ 37; Lachie Watchman took another step this year with 160 runs @ 32 in B-grade plus made his A-grade debut and did well in his 5 games up there. I’d like to think with another year under the belt for the younger brigade; lots more talent to see blossom in the existing squad and competition for places will only help drive not only B-grade for next year, but across the grades. Our “premiership window” is very much open and up to each of us to capitalise and reap the rewards for our hard work.

C GRADE CAPTAIN’S REPORT
Another season done, and unfortunately not a terribly successful one on the premiership ladder with only two wins. However we did all seem to enjoy our season and everyone got a go in doing something for the team. First round was a one day match against South Road. We batted first and hit a very good 264 runs in forty overs. Top scores were Dave Wright with an entertaining 93 runs, and Chad Porter with an aggressive 51 runs. Almost everyone got bowl with about a wicket each bowling South Rd out for 111runs over the forty overs. Next match was against Mitchell Park were we struggled. We batted for the most of the day for only 139 runs (Steve Davenport 47runs). Our opposition took forty overs to pass our total with once again near everyone got a bowl. Third round was against Belair, where we were much more competitive. Putting Belair into bat, we bowled them out for 155 runs. Harry Telford (5/38) and Mark Withers (4/22) starring with the ball. Following week we crumbled with the bat and made a disappointing 109 runs. This one we should have won. Round four Western Youth forfeited on us. Round five against Kenilworth was another disappointing loss where we had our chances to do better. Our opposition hit 296 runs and we replied with 228 runs with Daniel Keese top scoring on 60 runs. Round six was a good game against Keswick where they hit 223 runs. Best bowling was Jeremy Rochow (4/41) and John Rosman (3/55). We replied with 185 runs all out with Darren Parker (56runs) and Scott Brodie (54runs) top scoring. Half way into our season we played North Haven. We bowled well limiting them to 184 runs, Colin Farrell starred with the ball with 3/23. Once again we struggled with the bat and were all out for 98 runs. Cove was our next opponents were we batted well. We were all out for 253 runs where everyone made a start with their innings. Scott Brodie (59runs), Kingsley Smith (49runs), and Andrew Strunk (45runs) led the way. We bowled well but without luck and they passed our total with two wickets to spare. Round nine became a draw due to excessive heat on the second week. Round ten was a one day match against South Road. We hit 227runs in forty overs with Daniel Keese (80runs), Chad Porter (51runs) and Scott Brodie (42runs) leading the way. South Road batted for 36overs scoring only 71 runs. Sam Davenport smashed them with the ball taking 5/31. A good win finally. Last one day game against Mitchell Park and we did well against a strong side. We hit 154 runs in our forty overs. Andrew Strunk batted very unselfishly and made 65 runs, supported by Daniel Keese with 53 runs. However we struggled with the ball in taking wickets and they passed our total with only five overs to spare. Captains Trophy went to Scott Brodie this season. Scott was at all training sessions, helped with selection most games, collated statistic’s for the team, helped set the field during games and without him we would have struggled even more. Thankyou Scott for all your efforts. Fielding Trophy also went to Scott Brodie. This is well deserved as Scott has always showed a top level of energy at all times, even at the end of a long day in the field. He’s fielded with great skill and it has been well noted by opposing captains. Well done again Scott. Bowling trophy went to Brett Chilton with seven wickets. We struggled with the ball most games and wickets were hard to come by. Well bowled Brett and keep them coming while you still can, as you’re not getting any younger. Batting Trophy went to Daniel Keese with 317runs. Daniel batted very well this season, even at times, very unorthodox. Well done Daniel on a great season. It’s been a pleasure once again to captain a good bunch of cricketers’. I’m Looking forward to next season already. Cheers for now, Brett Chilton - C Grade Captain 2014/15

D GRADE CAPTAIN’S REPORT
We have just finished a year like no other I have experienced in all my 37 seasons at the club. Forfeits, rain and heat restricted the D grade season to ten weeks of cricket. For most of the year we remained in contention for a finals berth on the back of one genuine win. The Association is going to need to look at the heat policy very closely as I see more and more games being missed for hot weather and two at the clubs that are nominating more sides than it can fill. The forfeits are very disappointing for those wanting to play and could well see players leave or retire. The clubs that do the right thing are unfortunately being penalised by those that don't. The team was different each week due to player unavailability or because we had so many players, the latter is a very good place for the club to be in. With the side being so different it was very difficult to get any real momentum going. What was great to see were players like Karl Gill and Geoff Jenner playing some games and still being involved after many year’s. I would like to thank Mark Withers for being my Vice Captain once again. Mark’s efforts are always first rate and his team first mentality is much appreciated. Thanks also go to the committee for their professional running of our great club, we are very lucky to have them. Congratulations too Jon Ferris and his A grade team and to Glen Rosie and his B grade side for having great years and for reaching the semi- finals. Unfortunately both sides just fell short. It was great to see Lachlan Watchman, Harry Telford, Sam Donnelly all playing A Grade cricket this season after making their start in our junior programme and then featuring in our D grade premiership only a couple of years ago. This is the future of our great club. Davenport and Gill were the best of our batsmen this year. I was a little fortunate that in the games we didn't play I got to continue with the C Grade, which helped with continuity. Our bowlers really didn't have a lot of work to do which is reflected in our wicket taking. Mark Withers and Chamil Waduge were our standouts with dare I say it a cameo or two from Andrew Strunk. I do want to single out one fellow whom I do believe is one of the most improved players at the club. Tom Muir has over the past three years grown as a batsman and is now playing some genuine shots and is certainly going out and doing a job every week. Tom tries his guts out and is enthusiastic whilst in the field and is a super regular trainer. Well done Tom, I really enjoy playing the game with you. I look forward to season 2015/16 and hope to see everyone out again next season. Steve Davenport D Grade Captain.
