Paul Rugg, BIOGRAPHY Paul Rugg “Ned” Peabody and Emmy Award-winning writer, actor, and producer, Paul Rugg, is one of the founding members of The Acme Players comedy group in Los Angeles. This is important for two reasons. One, it sets up the next paragraph and two; it’s a skillful yet unpretentious way to use the words Emmy and Peabody in the first line. It was while performing at ACME that Paul joined the writing staff of Steven Spielberg Presents Animaniacs. Paul became supervising story editor for the initial 65 episodes, as well as writing some 40 shorts for the Emmy Award winning program. Rugg co-developed Steven Spielberg Presents Freakazoid! which received the Emmy Award in 1997 for Outstanding Animated Program. Spielberg also cast Rugg as the voice of shows main character, Freakazoid…thus launching Paul on his voice over career. Since that time, Rugg has lent his voice to many animated programs including Captain Underpants, Puss In Boots, Kung Fu Panda, Peabody and Sherman, Pig Goat Banana Cricket, Disney’s 7D, Toonsylvania, Dave The Barbarian, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, American Dragon, Cleopatra in Space and Scooby Doo. Rugg developed Dreamworks’ Penguins Of Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda for Nickelodeon Television and Dreamworks’ Peabody and Sherman for Netflix. In addition, Paul has developed series for Disney, Universal, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and the BBC. In the live action arena, Rugg wrote, produced and performed in the Manny the Uncanny segments for ABC’s highly successful Saturday programming block One Saturday Morning. Rugg also lent his acting talents to two other One Saturday Morning segments, Flindiggery Do and The Tube Dwellers. Paul is also a trained puppeteer who has performed with Jim Henson’s Puppet Up. Oddly enough, Paul is probably best known as the man who gets bitten by his Chihuahua in one of 2017s most viewed videos. Since it’s debut in September of 2017, the video has gone on to garner more than 150 million views. In addition to a Peabody Award and Three Emmys, Paul has received Eight Emmy Nominations, a Cable ACE Nomination, and made it into the semi-finals of Publisher Clearinghouse Sweepstakes. When not doing things for money, Paul can be found directing the plays at his daughter’s High School. .

Parade Rewind with Al Roker: His Idea of Perfect Weather and How Oversleeping Inspired His First App MAY 2, 2014 By ERIN HILL @ErinHillNY America’s favorite weatherman, Al Roker, stopped by to chat with Paradeabout his brand new app, Al’s Weather Rokies (available on iTunes), his early morning routine, growing up in Queens, New York, and having a spouse in the same industry. Check AlRoker.com for all the latest! Tell us about your new app, Al’s Weather Rokies. “Al’s Weather Rokies is unlike anything out there. There are gaming apps, there are weather apps, but there isn’t anything that puts the two together. So you get a forecast, you get information you need to know, but there’s a little game involved. Of course I do early morning TV, both Wake Up with Al and the Todayshow, and there was a little episode last year when I overslept for the first time. There’s a game that involves these cute little weather characters that you have to use to wake me up and help me get to the studio. So it’s both a game and a weather app.” And it incorporates your love of animation. “Yeah, I have loved animation ever since I was a little kid. I wanted to be an animator. What’s been great is that I’ve been able to use some of that in designing these apps and working with the programmers to get the animation right. It’s kind of addictive’ it’s fun. I think each of these little weather icons, these Rokies, whether it’s a cloud or a sun or a windstorm, all have their own little personality.” What were some of your favorite cartoons as a kid? “The classics, Tom and Jerry, The Roadrunner, Bugs Bunny, all the classic Disney feature animations, and then even as I got older, I still loved animation, The Animaniacs, and you move forward into Batman and Batman Beyond.
