The species is characterized by an annual growth habit, resupinate basidiomata with odontoid hymenial surface (50–100 µm long), more or less pronounced yellow stains in older basidiomata, a monomitic hyphal system with thin-walled, clamped generative hyphae and two to three-celled basidia and cylindrical, hyaline, thin- walled, smooth, IKI–, CB– basidiospores measuring as 17–24 ×5–8 µm. Sequences of ITS and LSU nrRNA gene regions of the studied samples were generated, and phylogenetic analyses were performed with maximum likelihood, maximum parsimony and bayesian inference methods. The phylogenetic analyses based on molecular data of ITS+nLSU sequences showed that Heteroradulum yunnanensis formed a monophyletic lineage with a strong support (100% BS, 100% BP, 1.00 BPP) and then grouped with H.

  • The Synnematous Anamorph of Exidia Saccharina (Auriculariales, Basidiomycota): Morphology, Conidiogenesis and Association with Bark Beetles*
Polish Botanical Journal 55(2): 335–342, 2010 THE SYNNEMATOUS ANAMORPH OF EXIDIA SACCHARINA (AURICULARIALES, BASIDIOMYCOTA): MORPHOLOGY, CONIDIOGENESIS AND ASSOCIATION WITH BARK BEETLES* ROLAND KIRSCHNER Abstract. The paper describes a synnematous anamorph of Exidia saccharina, its natural occurrence in the fi eld, and the ul- trastructure of conidiogenesis. Conidiogenesis was revealed as annellidic by transmission electron microscopy. The anamorph was found rarely in galleries of the bark beetles Ips typographus and Pityogenes chalcographus (Coeleoptera, Scolytinae) in the bark of Picea abies in Germany. The anamorph–teleomorph connection was confi rmed by morphological comparison of the anamorph from bark beetle galleries with the anamorph grown from basidiospores on natural medium. The newly discovered synnematous growth and annellidic conidiogenesis are similar to those of Gloeosynnema species (basidiomycetous hyphomyc- etes), which differ by details of septal clamp connections. Key words: basidiomycetes, mitosporic fungi, synnemata, Europe Roland Kirschner, Institute for Ecology, Evolution & Diversity, Goethe University, Siesmayerstr. 70, Building B, 60323 Frankfurt am Main, Germany; e-mail: [email protected] INTRODUCTION Anamorphs of Auriculariales usually are charac- on freshly collected basidiomata of Auriculariales, terized by hyaline, one-celled, mostly allantoid but the anamorphs alone are rarely found in nature conidia which are produced from germinating (Olive 1952; Ingold 1991), or if they occur their basidiospores or mycelia derived from basid- association with a teleomorph has not been recog- iospores. Juli 2018 Kassel VI Abstract Since the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park opened on 1 January 2004, the Department of Ecology of the University of Kassel has performed an inventory of fungi located there. To collect data for this dissertation, specific excursions were made to the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park to expand the inventory to categorise the species of fungi. To date, we have recorded 1,309 fungal species in the National Park. These include 145 species that are on the so-called red list of large mushrooms (Dämmrich et al., 2016) and 117 species that are categorised as a surrogate (indicator, signal or relic species). An in-depth analysis of the data collected was used to identify species that are particularly suitable to classify natural beech forests that are minimally affected by humans.
