Activity 3:  Design a poster for your circus. Think about a name for your circus? How will you make people want to come to your circus?

Look at the images on the next slide and think about the videos you watched yesterday. Imagine you are at the circus.

How to make popcorn  Activity 2 (ask an adult to help you) You will need: Write a senses poem 2 tbsp vegetable oil 100g popcorn kernels about being at the circus. 250g caster sugar Use the sentence starters 50g salted butter, cubed to help you….. What to do: 1. Cover the pop corn kernels with the oil in a pan with a lid. Look! I can see…… 2. Heat over a medium heat until you hear the corn starting to pop. Shake the pan sometimes. 3. When the popping stops remove from the heat. Listen! I can hear….. 4. In a small pan heat 60ml water with the sugar to make caramel. Once the sugar is dissolved add the butter and Sniff! I can smell….. stir. 5. Spread popcorn on a tray and pour over the caramel (be very careful as it will be hot!) Yum! I can taste….. 6. Leave to cool for 5 minutes.

Did you know that every clown has his own unique face?

Just like us, every clown in special and different.

Look at the clown faces on the next slide. Can you think of some words to describe their expressions? Can you think of a name for each clown that suits his face?

 Activity 1 Design your own clown face. Think about whether your clown is happy or sad. What colours will you use? Give your clown a name! If you have face paints you can make your design on your own face. Don’t forget to ask an adult first! Extra activity: why not make yourself a Clown Face sandwich for lunch! Don’t forget to take a photo 

Transform yourself into a clown! Print a photo of your face in black and white. Then add a clown hat, nose, big bow tie and face paint!

Roll a clown 2-4 players For this game you will need a dice, a pencil and paper. Take it in turns to roll the dice. You need to roll a 1 to start so that you can draw the clowns head. Then add the other parts as you roll the numbers so if you roll a 4 draw a hat. The winner is the first person to finish their clown.

Activity 1: Make your own juggling balls or Find 2 or 3 small soft balls at home.

Activity 2: Have a go at these 3 juggling techniques. You can use 2 or 3 balls for each trick. Juggling is NOT easy so keep trying and don’t give up!

Do YOU think animals should be in a circus?

Some people think it is cruel to make animals perform in front of an audience.

Many circuses today don’t use animals.

Activity 1: Take a survey amongst your family and friends to find out how many people agree that it is cruel to make animals perform in a circus.

Activity 2: make a news report about animals in circuses. Talk about the good  and the bad  points. Make a video and share it with your friends and family.

Activity 3: instead of using real animals in your circus why not have a go at making shadow puppets and including this in your performance?

1. Cut out some animal silhouettes like the ones here OR use toy animals

2. Attach them to a straw or chopstick.

3. Find a sunny place and make shadows on the wall with your animal puppets.

Today you need to practice all of your acts and decide what order you are going to perform them.

Think about the sorts of costumes you see at the circus. How would you describe the clothes?

Plan what you are going to wear for your circus performance.

Ask someone to watch you practice and to give some feeback. Ask for 2 stars and a wish so that you can make your performance even more special!
