The activity of the Polish institutions in the field of satellite geodesy and navigation are focused on the several main fields: • global and regional GPS and SLR measurements in the frame of International GNSS Service (IGS), International Laser Ranging Service (ILRS), International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS), European Reference Frame Permanent Network (EPN), • Polish geodetic permanent network – ASG-EUPOS, • modeling of ionosphere and troposphere, • practical utilization of satellite methods in local geodetic applications, • geodynamic study, • metrological control of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) equipment, • use of gravimetric satellite missions, • application of GNSS in overland, maritime and air navigation, • multi-GNSS application in geodetic studies. Two ellipses located in the Mawrth Vallis region were proposed and evaluated during a series of meetings (3 for Mars2020 mission and 5 for ExoMars). We describe here the regional context of the two proposed ellipses as well as the framework of the objectives of these two missions. Key science targets of the ellipses and their astrobiological interests are reported. This work confirms the proposed ellipses contain multiple past Martian wet environments of subaerial, subsurface and/or subaqueous character, in which to probe the past climate of Mars, build a broad picture of possible past habitable environments, evaluate their exobiological potentials and search for biosignatures in well-preserved rocks. A mission scenario covering several key investigations during the nominal mission of each rover is also presented, as well as descriptions of how the site fulfills the science requirements and expectations of in situ martian exploration. -

Las exposiciones vienen acompañadas por el presente material, un resumen de ambas, especialmente preparado para las edades escolares. Uno de los objetivos es que se comprenda que en el pasado la literatura era creada desde el pueblo y corría gracias al mester de juglaría de boca en boca, de casa en casa, de pueblo en pueblo y de reino en reino. Los juglares, además, la interpretaban para un público entusiasta acompañados por algún instrumento musical. Hoy, en el mundo de las comunicaciones hemos de hacer una importante abstracción para entender que la palabra, la palabra hablada, simple y llana, a veces acompañada por música y a veces no, ha resultado ser el motor de una parte de la historia de la literatura española. Gracias a estas palabras, que formaron frases, versos y cantares enteros para ser recitados por juglares y al esfuerzo de gentes que, como Per Abbat con el Cantar de Mío Cid se sentaron a compilar y a escribir lo que se escuchaba por los caminos, plazas, pueblos y ciudades, hoy podemos disfrutar de una parte de la vida y de la cultura en la Edad Media. -

LOOKING FOR OTHERS INTRODUCTION David MacDougall is arguably the most prominent figure in the field of visual anthropology today. He is a well-known filmmaker, anthropologist and writer that contributed to the development of visual anthro- pology, regarded not only as a subdomain of anthro- pology, but as a field of study in itself, that does not depend anymore on the traditional scientific princi- ple of anthropological inquiry for its validity. 308 São Paulo, v. 2, n.1, p.307-316, may (2017) In 2011 MacDougall came to the Astra Film Festival in Sibiu, Romania and then to Cluj as a guest of the Babes-Bolyai Univesity of Cluj Napoca, Ro- mania. As I was writing my PhD dissertation on ethnographic film and anthropological knowledge, I took the opportunity to talk with one of my favourite authors and filmmakers about the topics that interested me at that time. Starting from conflictual definitions of visual anthropology, issues related to observational and intertextual cinema, to differences between written and visual anthropology or how anthropological cin- ema conveys anthropological knowledge, the discussion led to a more methodological, practical and rather personal question about the act of “looking” as a mode of inquiry and a methodological shift towards cor- poreal/sensory anthropology. Looking back, the 45 minutes interview was so inspiring to me that it stood at the basis of every chapter of my PhD thesis and even if some of the issues discussed five years ago are not “burning” anymore, I believe there are ideas that stand at the core of our discipline and many of the issues tackled still deserve our full attention. -

Aboriginal Oral Traditions A History of Research and Scholarship1 The makers of Australian songs, or of the combined songs and dances, are the poets, or bards, of the tribes, and are held in great esteem. Their names are known in the neighboring tribes, and their songs are carried from tribe to tribe, until the very meaning of the words is lost, as well as the original source of the song. It is hard to say how far and how long such a song may travel in the course of time over the Australian continent. (Howitt 1904:414) In 1988 non-Aboriginal Australians will celebrate two hundred years’ occupation of a country which had previously been home to an Aboriginal population of about 300,000 people. They probably spoke more than two hundred different languages and most individuals were multilingual (Dixon 1980). They had a rich culture, whose traditions were centrally concerned with the celebration of three basic types of religious ritual-rites of fertility, initiation, and death (Maddock 1982:105-57). In many parts of Australia, particularly in the south where white settlement was earliest and densest, Aboriginal traditional life has largely disappeared, although the memory of it has been passed down the generations. Nowadays all Aborigines, even in the most traditional parts of the north, such as Arnhem Land, are affected to a greater or lesser extent by the Australian version of Western culture, and must preserve their own traditions by a combination of holding strategies.
