The Festival has been running across the district for 57 years and for 2017 the programme will focus more on arts and cultural activity and will boast a full range of music, theatre, dance, visual arts and educational activities. The trustees have also placed more emphasis on free community arts activities, for example by introducing new free events such as REFRESHRubery in the village centre and a Bite Sized Classics concert at St Andrew’s Church in Charford. And as always the major part of the Festival programme comprises events that are promoted and organised by local societies, clubs and other organisations whose support is never-waning and extremely valuable. This year’s Festival will be building on the feedback from the 2016 event when an independent survey and impact assessment by Tiller Research showed significant benefits for the Bromsgrove District and increased audience participation. Graham Mackenzie, Chair of Bromsgrove Festival Limited, said: “The 2016 Festival was judged a great success. Feedback from event organisers who saw increased attendances and audience members was almost unanimously positive. "So, despite reduced funding, the Festival Committee has had no hesitation in organising the 2017 Festival in the same wide ranging, high quality community-based style. "We also hope by reaching out across the district we will encourage greater participation in Festival activities in areas of Bromsgrove that have previously not seriously engaged with the Festival.” The Bromsgrove Festival will run this year from Friday 16th June to Sunday July 23rd. The full programme is also available at www.bromsgrovefestival.co.uk and many events will provide for internet booking and ticket purchase. Lickey & Blackwell and Cofton Hackett Draft NDP Spring 2018 1 Lickey & Blackwell and Cofton Hackett Draft NDP Spring 2018 2 Foreword As Chair of the Steering Group for the Lickey & Blackwell and Cofton Hackett Neighbourhood Development Plan, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone reading this important document. The Localism Act of 2011 gave new rights and powers to local communities which will help us to shape future development at a local level. This document has been prepared after several years of consultation, consideration, research and hard work, and we have endeavoured to ensure the policies in the Draft Plan provide a strong local framework to guide future development in the area. It is essential that the Neighbourhood Plan deals with the main issues facing our two parishes and this Plan has been put together against a background of the adopted Bromsgrove District Plan and the Green Belt Review. We hope you will agree that it encapsulates our aspirations for Lickey & Blackwell and Cofton Hackett as great places for everyone to live in, work in, and visit.
