County Investing in Affordable Housing in Bradford West Gwillimbury Release County of Simcoe, Office of the Warden and CAO 1110 Highway 26, Midhurst, Ontario L9X 1N6 simcoe.ca FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE County investing in affordable housing in Bradford West Gwillimbury Midhurst/June 14, 2021 – County of Simcoe County Council has approved a 50-unit affordable housing project including a mixed family and seniors building in Bradford West Gwillimbury. This land was generously donated to the Simcoe County Housing Corporation (SCHC) for this purpose by the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. These donated lands at 125 Simcoe Road, at the intersection of Simcoe Road and Marshview Boulevard, will create an attractive streetscape with good connectivity to transit and adjacent walking trails. The building will be within walking distance of the Town’s future civic plaza, downtown commercial amenities, elementary schools, ample green space parks, and the nearby GO Station. This building will have a high energy efficiency rating, incorporating passive house design elements to move more closely to a net zero design. In the spirit of collaboration, the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury has also approved the waiving of fees for the site plan, development engineering, and building permit applications. In addition, the Town has generously offered to contribute toward the cost of relocating the overland storm water flow route through the site. The Town is pleased to partner with the County on this important initiative and construct a building design that our residents can be proud of, while also addressing growing needs within our community." – Rob Keffer, County Councillor (Human Services Business Section Chair) and Mayor of the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury Quick Facts: Anticipated Timeline: • Planning approvals and site plan application will take approximately nine months • Design development and working drawings can be prepared simultaneously and be ready by December 2021 to early 2022 • Construction is expected to begin in early spring 2022 • Anticipated completion date of end of 2023 Impact on Housing Targets: • In 2014, the County set a target to create 202 new homes in BWG • As of December 31, 2020, 2,364 new affordable housing units have been created across the County of Simcoe • Once this development is complete in 2023 (pending approvals), the County and our partners will have achieved 63% of our housing goals for the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury Development Construction – highlights of our drive towards 2,685 new units: • 2015: o 38 affordable rental units (Barrie) • 2016: o 75 affordable rental units (54 in Barrie, 21 in Penetanguishene) • 2017: o 5 affordable rental units (Barrie) • 2018: o 4 affordable rental units (Wyevale) • 2019: o 80 affordable rental units (20 in Alliston, 55 in Innisfil, 5 in Barrie) o 117 affordable rental/mixed use units, plus 30 replacement Rent-Geared-to-Income units (Collingwood) o 23 supportive housing units (18 in Barrie, 5 in Midland) • 2020: o 140 affordable rental units (99 in Wasaga Beach, 41 in Tay) In process: • 2021: o 20 supportive housing units in Orillia • 2023: o 127 net new affordable rental/mixed use units in Orillia, plus 3 replacement Rent-Geared-to- Income units o 50 affordable rental/mixed use units in Bradford West Gwillimbury County of Simcoe is composed of sixteen member municipalities and provides crucial public services to County residents in addition to providing paramedic and social services to the separated cities of Barrie and Orillia.     Hello Georgian Bay Community Members, For the 2020-2021 swim season the Collingwood Clippers Swim Club is reaching out to local businesses and organizations to gain sponsorships, that will ensure our ability to continue providing our local youth with the opportunity to pursue competitive and recreational swimming excellence during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the beginning of the pandemic, our Club has encountered setbacks, but we are excited to say that we are in the process of bouncing back and we are looking for support from our community to continue on stronger than ever. The Collingwood Clippers Swim Club (formerly Collingwood Y Clippers) have been teaching and coaching competitive swimming to the youth of Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Blue Mountain and surrounding areas since 1985. The Club started as an entry level developmental swim program and has subsequently evolved into a strong, competitive Swim Club. In recent years, CCSC has continued to produce competitive swimmers that excel at the Regional, Provincial, National and International levels of competition, winning medals and placing within the top 8 at competitions. We have been extremely effective in developing our swimmers and breaking club records. Over the past 3 season our swimmers have broken 28 female short course club records, 43 male short course club records, 33 female long course club records and 40 male long course club records for a grand total of 144 club records! Please see below for some of our Swim Meet and Championship highlight achievements over the past two seasons. • 2019 Eastern Canadian Championships - CCSC had 3 swimmers compete at 2019 Eastern Canadian Championships (Canadian National level swim meet) in Quebec City, QC.

Multiple members of the consortium were recognized for exceptional Enterprise design through the Simcoe County Libraries for Accessibility project. Made possible through the partnership of ten Simcoe County Libraries, The Simcoe County Libraries for Accessibility project is a successful and creative solution for meeting the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Standards. Executive Summary This item provides an update on the Simcoe County Linx and Linx Plus Transit service before COVID-19, adaptations made during the pandemic, and the outlook moving forward. Simcoe County LINX transit service began operation in September 2018. The current conventional transit service operates along four corridors: • Route 1 – Barrie to Midland /Penetanguishene • Route 2 – Barrie to Wasaga Beach • Route 3 – Barrie – Oro-Medonte – Orillia • Route 4 – Wasaga Beach to Collingwood Route 5, Alliston to Bradford will begin on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 with free service for the first month. Fare service will commence on Route 5 in September 2020. Route 6 Penetanguishene/ Midland – Tay – Severn – Oro-Medonte – Orillia will have a later start date of early fall due to the delay of bus deliveries as a result of COVID-19. Transit service levels have been reduced as ridership has decreased due to COVID –19. Transit staff will continue to monitor COVID-19 ridership levels and plan for reintroduction of service hours as required. Based on average ridership numbers and average fares seen prior to March 23 it is estimated that approximately $133K in fare revenues have been foregone (waived) between March 23 and the end of June. Transit service reductions began in April and savings are estimated to total approximately $214K.
