Annual Report 1 July 2020 2019 - A Year In Pictures Dear Friend, At the end of June, OneFamily Israel held its Annual General Members Meeting in Jerusalem, for which this report was prepared and provided, summarizing the programs. In addition, six new prestigious, independent individuals were voted in as members of OneFamily’s Board of Directors and its Management Committee: Meir Sheetrit is a former member of Knesset, and has held several Ministerial positions from 1999-2007. Elyakim Rubenstein is a former Vice President of the Supreme Court of Israel; he served as the Attorney General of Israel and as Assistant Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1997-2004. Idit Silman is an Israeli politician. She served as a former MK for the previous Government. Major Eitan Dana-Pikar is a Defense Officer of the Judea Brigade and a recipient of the Outstanding IDF Chief of Staff Award. Jan Wimpfheimer is a managing partner of Schwell Wimpfheimer & Associates LLP serving the United States and Israel. Rabbi Chaim Sacknowitz made Aliyah from Toronto where he served as a community Rabbi. OneFamily’s mission is to champion the rights and meet the needs of Israel’s civilian victims of terror families as well as the families of military casualties from confrontations with terrorists, to ensure their rehabilitation and reintegration into Israeli society. We bring Israel’s victims of terror together into one national self-supportive family. OneFamily’s vision is to positively affect the physical rehabilitation and emotional recovery of each victim of terror and their family, as well as to empower each victim to achieve their financial and emotional independence. To achieve those goals, OneFamily provides a uniquely comprehensive blend of financial and emotional assistance, as well as a variety of holistic therapeutic programs which are tailor-made for each person and delivered in our hallmark “family” atmosphere of togetherness that the victims have come to love and trust. The holistic approach allows us to treat the family as a whole and look after each and every member’s well-being. In this booklet we would like to share with you the 2019 End of Year Report of OneFamily’s activities, programs and other services. I’m very grateful for your past contributions. (i) Interim report on the fort near Tel Shalem Benjamin Arubas, Michael Heinzelmann, David Mevorah and Andrew Overman A multi-disciplinary research proj- ect has been begun in the fields next to the site of Tel Shalem (fig. 1), the locus of important discoveries since the 1970s (primarily the bronze statue of Hadrian). Recent geophysical prospections have detected the clear layout of a Roman fort and possibly even two successive forts. Two short excavation seasons carried out in 2017 and 2019, with a focus on the prin- cipia, resulted in finds that shed new light on the nature, history and identity of the site. Tel Shalem lies in the plain of the Jor- dan Rift Valley c.2 km west of the river and close to the territories of two Decapo- lis cities (it is c.10 km southwest of Pella and c.12 km south-southeast of Nysa- Scythopolis). It controls a major junction of the road network. The highway which connects to the Via Maris running along the coast passes through the Jezreel, Fig. 1. This road intersects other routes, one of which runs southwards along the Rift Valley past the Sea of Galilee through Scythopolis to Jerusalem by way of Jericho, the other of which runs from Neapolis (Nablus) in Samaria to Pella through Nahal Bezek (Wadi Shubash).

GENERAL S/8818 1)' September 1968 ORIGINAL: ENGLISH r LETTER DATED 17 SEPTEMBER1968 FROM THE PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ISRAEL ADDRESSEDTO THE PRESIDENT OF THE SECURITY COUNCIL On instructions from my Government, I have the honour to refer to my letter of 26 August 1968 (S/8774.) concerning repeated violations of the cease-fire by Jordan and to draw your attention to the continuation and intensification of military attacks from Jordanian territory against Israel since that date, Yesterday, 16 September, at approximately 1000 hours local time, Jordanian forces on the East Bank of the Jordan opened mortar and small arms fire on Israeli forces near Maoz Haim in the Beit Shean Valley. One Israeli soldier was killed and three were wounded. Fire was returned in self-defence. During the night the town of Beit Shean itself was shelled by 130 mm rockets fired from the East Bank of the Jordan. These rockets, of Czechoslovakian manufacture, are standard equipment in Arab armies. As a result of this attack, eight civilians were wounded, The Israel forces fired back on targets across the border from Beit Shean, in the Irbid area. Again, last night, at 2345 hours, artillery and mortar fire was opened on Israeli forces on the West Bank near the Allenby Bridge, from Jordanian territory on the East Bank of the Jordan. Fire was returned in self-defence and the exchange continued until 0300 this morning. These recent incidents follow a series of grave Jordanian violations of the cease-fire during the last three weeks , particulars of the more serious of which are contained in the attached list.

    Haya Graetz-Ran Many of her works follows the feminine feminist voice which is absent from the narrative of the Zionist enterprise, as being studied in the school system and became fixated in the Israeli masculine art scene. Graetz-Ran operates as a painter who is both a researcher and an artist and uncovers testimonies such as personal diaries, objects from the past and photographs. Present reality of violence permeates through the seemingly innocent painting of Graetz-Ran and reflects on dimensions of breadth and depth of the public domain: nation, community and also the realm of the individual. The subjects of the creation of Graetz-Ran deals with the connection and the continuity of local history, mainly of Jezreel Valley. By unearthing historical photographs, which she liberates from old family albums and converting the image from photography to painting, she revives a past reality and stimulates a discourse about forgotten themes. Hence, the graceful paintings of Graetz-Ran raises difficult questions about seduction, memory and nostalgia and arouses the sleepy arteries of painting with new liveliness of layers of time gone by. This painting is feminist, ethical and political. Her works are included in museum collections as well as in private collections. She lives in Kiryat-Tiv’on. Kramsch Professor Daniel Boyarin Spring 2010 ABSTRACT Language Socialization and Linguistic Ideologies Among Israeli Emissaries in the United States by Shlomy Kattan Doctor of Philosophy in Education University of California, Berkeley Professor Patricia Baquedano-López, Chair ! Research in both the anthropology and sociology of education has increasingly come to consider the institutional e"ects of migration, globalization, and transnationalism on learning environments. Yet, most studies examining transmigration and education have only looked at migrant children in schools rather than at the transitions they undergo as transnationals across settings. We know little of the linguistic and socializing practices that occur during migrants’ transitions from place to place and how they come to de#ne the migratory and educational experience for transnational children. ! This multi-sited, global ethnography examines language socialization practices and linguistic ideologies among families of Israeli emissaries (shlichim) employed by the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI). The study documented the transitions undergone by families with school-age children in the months of their preparation for their move from Israel to the United States and during the #rst year and-a-half in the U.S.. Data collection for this project took place in both Israel and New York at the homes of the families, the children’s schools, peer group activities, extracurricular programs, play, and summer camp.
