Since its creation, Artisans Angkor has strived to:

Since 2005, the company is totally self-financed and intends to remain so.

Today, Artisans Angkor employs about 1200 people, including over 800 artisans, in 48 workshops in Siem Reap region. Artisans Angkor’s financial and economic sustainability make it possible for all employees to get durable jobs and social advantages. It thus allows poverty alleviation in the Siem Reap rural villages. …THROUGH LONG-TERM REINVESTMENT As Artisans Angkor was created on the model of a social business, the shareholders who invested in it do not receive any dividends on the profits.

Artisans Angkor’s profits are reinvested in the development of the company, such as the opening of workshops in rural villages, set up of new trainings, lifelong training sessions, healthcare, etc. CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSABILITY The company is in full compliance with Labour law: • 3% of our craftsmen are people with disabilities • Gender equal opportunity (60% women)

VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Artisans Angkor regularly trains new apprentices in the Arts & Craft sector. The apprenticeship last 6 to 12 months. It is free of charge and compensated. It grants them the status of true craftsmen after completion of their training.

Since 2012, over 260 young people aged 18 to 25 years-old from Siem Reap rural areas were trained by Artisans Angkor.

LIFELONG TRAINING

Regular training sessions on first-aid and on use of fire extinguishers are held on an annual basis to ensure that remote rural workshops are as safe as the others. Artisans Angkor has a Quality and Sustainable Development department which aims at ensuring the maximum safety of employees and workplaces. HEALTHCARE

Artisans Angkor is dedicated to improve life conditions of its employees by providing them free access to medical care. A permanent doctor and 3 nurses take care of Artisans Angkor’s employees on a permanent basis. They visit the rural workshops twice a month. There also are two annual visits of specialist doctors thanks to our partnership with a French volunteer medical NGO.

EMPOWERING FUTURE GENERATIONS

Artisans Angkor is deeply committed to the promotion of education, for both its employees and also for their families. Several of our partnerships with local NGOs are meant to extend empowerment to our employees’ families. Example: the artisans’ children benefit from public reading and books put at their disposal by an NGO promoting education and literacy. ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS

Artisans Angkor has made an enduring commitment to environmental principles in its business operations.

All our lacquer products are made using hydro-varnish which is safe for the health and is environment-friendly, as proven by its compliance with European standards (“REACH legislation”).

ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY ACTIONS At the Angkor Silk Farm, a natural waste water treatment system was set up to purify wash and dyed water through phytoremediation. Treated water can then be used again for local farming or dyeing process.
