Mikael Ymer and Good to Great Tennis Academy Part Ways PRESS RELEASE Stockholm, 21 February 2017 MIKAEL YMER AND GOOD TO GREAT TENNIS ACADEMY PART WAYS After a long and successful co-operation Good to Great Tennis Academy and Mikael Ymer has decided to go separate ways. Good to Great Tennis Academy are proud of having been the home port for Mikael since he was 12 years old. During his years at the academy Mikael has achieved great results such as winning three ETA titles, winning the European Championships twice, being a runner up in Wimbledon juniors, three ITF titles, one Future title as well as winning the ATP tour event in doubles in Stockholm Open last year. Mikael has also been playing for the Swedish Davis Cup Team. We want to thank and also congratulate Johan Hedsberg for his outstanding work with Mikael throughout the important junior years. Johan Hedsberg will remain with Good to Great Tennis Academy. We also want to send a special thanks to Bactiguard for supporting Mikael the last five years through Team Bactiguard. The whole team at Good to Great Tennis Academy as well as our partners wish Mikael good luck in the future. Mikael Ymer, said: "I would like to thank the Good To Great team and for the support from Bactiguard over the past 6 years. They have a great team and I wish them all my best for the future. I would also like to thank all the coaches who have helped me on and off court to become a better tennis player and also mature as a person." To match this ambition, a new tennis facility will be constructed in Danderyd in the beginning of next year. He climbs the world rankings and is now among the top 350 players in the world, while preparing to play the next Davis Cup-match for Sweden. Mikael Ymer, together with his older brother Elias Ymer, Daniel Windahl, Fred Simonsson and Jonathan Mridha formed the original Team Bactiguard back in 2012. He trained and competed for Team Bactiguard until spring 2017, when he chose to leave after a heavy injury period. After successful rehabilitation, Mikael is back on track, training and competing again. First up on Centre Court at the Kungliga Tennishallen, Swedish brothers Elias and Mikael Ymer face No. 4 seeds Mate Pavic and Michael Venus for the doubles title. It has been an impressive team debut for Elias, aged 20, and 18-year-old Mikael, playing his first ATP tour-level doubles event the same week he registered his first tour-level singles win over Fernando Verdasco in the first round. The duo saved three match points to beat No. 3 seeds Marcin Matkowski and Jean-Julien Rojer in the first round and ousted No. 2 seeds Rohan Bopanna and Treat Huey in the semi-finals to become the third brothers to reach a doubles final in 2016 (also Alexander/Mischa Zverev and Bob/Mike Bryan). Pavic and Venus denied the Zverev brothers victory in the Montpellier final and are chasing their fifth title of 2016 (also Auckland, Marseille and s-Hertogenbosch).
