The Big South is 14-17 all-time in the head-to-head meetings -- 11 of the defeats have been by a touchdown-or-less. The Big South is 6-6 in such contests during the regular-season. u There are three matchups featuring a pair of Top 25 teams across FCS football this week. All 25 ranked teams are in action this week. STATS FCS rankings are denoted below. #14 Elon at #16 Maine, 12 pm ET (WVII / WPME / FOX College Sports) #7 James Madison at #15 Towson, 2 pm ET (CollegeSportsLive / CBS Digital) #6 Jacksonville State vs. Kennesaw State, 3 pm ET (FOX Sports Southeast) u FCS teams have recorded seven wins against FBS schools. Last year, FCS schools notched nine wins against FBS schools. Since 1978, FCS schools have recorded double-digit win totals against the FBS six times, most recently in 2016 (10 that year). The FCS set a record in 2013 with 16 wins against FBS schools. There are six FCS-FBS matchups this weekend. FCS wins against FBS schools UC Davis 44, San Jose State 38 (Aug. 30) Villanova 19, Temple 17 (Sept. 1) Nicholls 26, Kansas 23 (Sept. 1) Northern Arizona 30, UTEP 10 (Sept. 1) North Carolina A&T 28, E. Carolina 23 (S2) Maine 31, Western Kentucky 28 (Sept. 8) Illinois State 35, Colorado State 19 (S22) BIG SKY -- There’s a three-team pile up at the top of the Big Sky standings with Eastern Washington, UC Davis and Weber State all with a 6-1 record. Regardless of the outcome of the other games, a win this weekend will clinch at least a share of the Big Sky title for any of the three teams. All three teams are undefeated at home this season - UC Davis has the only home game this week. If there’s a three-way tie, Weber State will earn the auto bid to the FCS Playoffs. The Wildcats hold the tie breaker over the Eagles and the Aggies fell to Eastern Washington. If UCD and WSU are tied, the Aggies earn the auto bid because the two teams did not play each other and the tiebreaker would be decided by Sagarin rankings. If by chance there’s a four-way tie at 6-2 between Eastern Washington, Idaho State, UC Davis, and Weber State, the Eagles would get the auto bid. The FCS Committee’s Top 10 release two weeks ago had three Big Sky teams ranked. UC Davis led the way at No. 3, Weber State was ranked No. 3, and Eastern Washington was slotted No. 9. The Big Sky has three teams ranked in the Top 10 for the fourth consecutive week. Weber State, UC Davis and Eastern Washington filled the 3-4-9 spots in the FCS STATS poll, while the Eagles are ranked third, Wildcats fourth and Aggies 11th in the AFCA poll. Montana State is the newest Big Sky team to enter the polls this season and the seventh team overall as they were slotted at No. 25 in the FCS STATS Poll. Idaho State and Montana are also receiving votes.

BIG SOUTH -- Preseason Big South favorite Kennesaw State won its second consecutive outright Big South championship and auto- matic bid to the FCS Playoffs, as the Owls wrapped up back-to-back undefeated Big South seasons with this past Saturday’s 51-14 win at Monmouth. Kennesaw State, which has won 10-straight Big South games -- the third-longest streak in league history, is also the first Big South member with consecutive 5-0 league records. Kennesaw State QB CHANDLER BURKS has tied the Big South career touchdown record of 53 as well as the points scored record with 318, which were first established by Stony Brook’s MIGUEL MAYSONET from 2010-12. Burks’ TD total stands as the record for most career rushing touchdowns, as he is the only Big South player with at least 50 career rushing scores. The only player in league annals with 30 career rushing (53) and 30 passing (31) TDs, Burks is third all-time with 84 touchdowns responsible for. Campbell QB DANIEL SMITH’s 13 rushing TDs are the third-most in a season by a Big South quarterback. Nine of his scores of come from at least 10 yards out -- including four from 45 or longer. He is just the second QB with at least four rushing touchdowns from that distance, and one shy of matching the record of five set by VMI’s TIM MAYPRAY in 2008.

CAA FOOTBALL -- The most competitive conference race in FCS football enters the final Saturday with five teams still in contention for the conference title. Maine sits alone atop the standings at 6-1 and can earn the outright championship for the first time since 2013 with a victory over Elon on Saturday. Delaware, James Madison, Stony Brook and Towson are all a game back at 5-2 and could gain a share of the title if the Black Bears lose. A list of tiebreakers regarding the CAA’s automatic bid to the FCS playoffs is included in this release. The final Saturday of the regular season features three rivalry games. Richmond and William & Mary meet for the 129th time for the Capital Cup, Delaware hosts Villanova in the Battle of the Blue, and Stony Brook and UAlbany face off in the Battle for the Golden Apple. William & Mary’s Jimmye Laycock coaches the final game of his legendary 39-year career on Saturday. Laycock, who has the longest tenure at one school among active Division I head coaches, ranks second only to Columbia’s Al Bagnoli (257) among active NCAA Division I coaches and he is tied with Lou Holtz for 24th on the NCAA’s all-time wins list. His 112 victories in CAA Football are second only to Villanova’s Andy Talley (142).

IVY LEAGUE -- The Ivy League closed out non-conference play with an 18-6 mark, marking the fourth-straight season with a .500-or-better non-conference record. The League has now posted back-to-back .750 non-conference winning percentages, pacing the FCS in both 2017 and 2018. Princeton assured itself at least a share of the program’s 12th Ivy League championship last weekend, courtesy of a wild 59-43 victory over Yale in New Haven. The Tigers’ last three Ivy titles have been shared ones. A win over Penn would give Princeton its first outright Ivy League title since 1995, and only the fourth in program history. It would also give the program its first undefeated season since 1964, and its first unde- feated season with double-digit wins since 1903. Ranked 20th in both polls this week, Dartmouth has an opportunity to become just the eighth team in program history to win at least nine games in one year in the season’s final game against Brown.

MEAC -- The MEAC Championship trophy and Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl berth are still up for grabs as Florida A&M’s loss last weekend means six teams are still in the hunt for the coveted trophy. Only North Carolina A&T State and Florida A&M can earn the bowl bid (CB=Celebration Bowl) as its a two-team race.

MEAC Tiebreaker: 1. If FAMU wins, NCAT loses: Clinches MEAC Championship outright (CB: FAMU) 2. If FAMU wins, NCAT wins: FAMU, NCAT declared co-champions (CB: FAMU) 3. If NCAT wins, FAMU loses: Clinches MEAC Championship outright (CB: NCAT) 4. If NCAT loses, BCU wins, SCSU wins final two games NCAT, FAMU, BCU, SCSU declared co-champions (CB: NCAT) 5. If NCAT loses, BCU wins NCAT, FAMU, BCU declared co-champions (CB: NCAT) MISSOURI VALLEY -- In the past seven+ playoffs (2010-17), five leagues (Big Sky, CAA Football, MVFC, Southern and Southland) have combined to win 146 of 172 total games. The MVFC has 52 of those wins (35 percent). The Missouri Valley Football Conference has recorded a 52-23 record since 2010 in the playoffs -- better than any other league. Over the last four years the MVFC has a 33-16 record in the playoffs, which includes seven intraconference games, meaning the league is 26-9 vs. other leagues. Thirty-five teams with four losses, including 27 at-large picks, have made the playoffs in the current 24-team format (2013-present). A third of those at-large picks (nine teams) were from the MVFC. In 2014, Indiana State became the first five-loss team to earn an at-large spot. The Sycamores were 7-5 that year (4-4 in the MVFC). ISU won a first-round game at Eastern Kentucky (36-16) before falling at No. 8 seed Chattanooga in the quarterfi- nals. Only three teams since 1978 have earned a playoff at-large spot with only six victories. Idaho was the first in 1995 (6-4). In the current 24-team format, only Western Illinois (6-5 in 2015) and Illinois State (6-5 in 2016) have been selected as an at-large entry with only six wins. Western won a first-round game in 2015 (at Dayton), and Illinois State lost its game in 2016 (at Central Arkansas). Since the FCS playoffs expanded to a 24-team field (2013), a total of 21 MVFC teams have recorded a 5-3 mark in league play. Eighteen of those 21 -- including all 18 in the past four seasons -- have made the playoffs. Four MVFC teams could reach the five-win mark in Conference play this year (North Dakota State and South Dakota State have already done it.)

NORTHEAST -- Duquesne, Central Connecticut and Sacred Heart all own 4-1 league records heading into Saturday’s regular season finales, but only Duquesne controls its own destiny in the race for the Northeast Conference’s automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs. The Dukes can clinch the program’s second-ever tournament appearance by defeating defending NEC champion CCSU in New Britain on November 17. Central Connecticut can secure the bid for the second year in a row if it earns a victory over Duquesne and Saint Francis defeats Sacred Heart. SHU can secure its first postseason bid since 2014 by defeating Saint Francis coupled with a Central Connecticut win over Duquesne. The Central Connecticut vs. Duquesne matchup has been selected as the #NECFB Wildcard Game on ESPN3 while the Saint Francis at Sacred Heart game will be carried live by NEC Front Row. CCSU and Duquesne net in a de facto conference title game last November at Rooney Field with the visitors prevailing by the slimmest of margins. Quarterback Jacob Dolegala, who currently paces the circuit in completion percentage (62.7), accounted for 299 yards of total offense and four touch- downs (2 rush, 2 pass) in the victory. Duquesne running back AJ Hines, who went over the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the third year in a row in last week’s win over SHU, rushed for 126 yards and two scores while Nehari Crawford, who tops the 2018 NEC receiving leader board, caught 10 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns last November 11 on The Bluff.

OHIO VALLEY -- Jacksonville State finished Conference play with a 7-1 record to claim its fifth-straight OVC Championship, which is a first in league history. Overall it is the eighth OVC crown for the Gamecocks, tied for the fourth-most in Confer- ence history. Over the past five seasons, JSU is 38-1 in OVC play. The Gamecocks will be making its sixth-straight FCS Playoff appearance. Murray State had one of the most dramatic comebacks in school history, overcoming a 31-point deficit to top No. 19 Southeast Missouri. After trailing 31-0, MSU took a 34-31 lead with 1:42 to play in the game, only to fall behind 38-34 with 20 seconds to go. Junior Malik Hon- eycutt then took the ensuing kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown to lift MSU to the improbably 40-38 win. Honeycutt’s play was No. 1 on SportsCenter and he earned STATS National Specialist of the Week honors for his performance. Southeast Missouri’s Zach Hall enters this week ranked first nationally in tackles (13.4/game), seventh in fumbles recovered (0.4/game) and 16th in interceptions (0.4/game). Hall has had four games with 15-plus tackles this season and has Southeast Missouri ranked No. 23 nationally and on the verge of a possible at-large playoff berth, which would be only the second playoff appearance in school history.

PATRIOT -- Colgate clinched the outright Championship with a 48-6 victory at Lehigh to finish a perfect 6-0. Against the Mountain Hawks, Colgate had its steak of 29-consecutive quarters without allowing an opposing touchdown snapped in the second quarter. The last touchdown the Raiders allowed was in the fourth quarter of its Sept. 1 win vs. Holy Cross. Colgate’s defense has played at a historic level in 2018 tying the FCS single-season shutout record of five, set by South Carolina State in 1978. The Raiders lead the nation in total defense (192.3 yds. allowed/gm), scoring defense (3.2 pts. allowed/gm), rushing defense (56.7 yds. al- lowed/gm), pass efficiency defense (82.33) and red zone defense (.333). The Raiders defense has scored three TDs this season and allowed three. They had gone 29 straight quarters without allowing a TD, dating back to Sept. 1, before the Mountain Hawks scored in the second quarter on Nov. 10. Lafayette hosts Lehigh in the 154th meeting of ’s most-played rivalry game. The two schools, separated by less than 20 miles, meet for the first time in 1884. They have met each season without interruption dating back to 1897, reaching 122 consecutive years, the longest streak of con- secutive years in the nation. The Mountain Hawks have won the last four meetings, with the Leopards earning their last victory in 2013, the last season they won a Patriot League Championship. Lafayette leads the all-time series 78-70-5. The Georgetown Hoyas defeated Bucknell, 14-3, on Nov. 10 to win a program record four League games this season. GU won three League games in 2011. Head coach Rob Sgarlata guided Georgetown to their first 3-0 start in League play since joining the Patriot League in 2001 with a defense that has been among the nation’s most opportunistic. Georgetown leads the PL and is fourth in the FCS with 16 interceptions through 10 games. Nine different GU players have picked off a pass this season, with senior safety Jethro Francois second in the League with three. GU can clinch its third winning season since 1999 with a win over Holy Cross. PFL -- San Diego clinched its 10th PFL title in Week 11. The Toreros also have won five straight league crowns and all their ® titles have come since winning the 2005 championship. Days after clinching their 10th PFL title, San Diego catapulted from receiving votes into the Top 25 in each of the FCS polls. The AFCA Poll moved San Diego to No. 22 on its list. Meanwhile, the FCS STATS media poll pushed the Toreros to No. 21. It is the first time USD has been ranked since the end of the 2017 season. Entering the regular season’s final week, the PFL features three of the subdivision’s 18 1,000-yard runners. Jacksonville’s Calvin Turner Jr. leads the group with 1,429 yards – third among FCS runners. Davidson’s Wesley Dugger (1,138) and Dayton’s Tucker Yinger (1,137) are ranked No. 8 and No. 9, respectively. Meanwhile, Davidson’s Wesley Wicks (898 yards) and Butler’s Brad Sznajder (850) stand within 150 yards of joining the 1,000-yard club this season. Highlighting the offensive nature of the PFL in 2018, three PFL receivers have compiled 1,000-yard seasons. San Diego’s Michael Bandy, who set the PFL record with a 356-yard receiving day against Davidson in Week 10, leads the subdivision with 1,427 receiving yards. Marist’s Juston Christian (1,085 yards) and Stetson’s Donald Parham (1,062) yards are No. 5 and No. 6 on the FCS list which features just 10 1,000-yard receivers to date. Here again, two PFL receivers are within 100 yards of reaching the milestone: Butler’s Pace Temple (928 yards) and Valparaiso’s Griffin Norberg (902).

SOUTHERN -- Wofford and Furman won on Nov. 10 to keep their SoCon title hopes and chances for the SoCon’s automatic berth to the FCS playoffs alive, while league-leading ETSU, which has already claimed at least a share of the title, was idle. ETSU can claim the title outright and the league’s automatic berth with a win over Samford on Saturday. Wofford, which beat Western Carolina 38-23 to move to 6-2 in league play, can clinch the AQ with losses by Furman and ETSU on Saturday. The Terriers own the head-to-head tiebreaker over ETSU should the squads finish tied in league play. In the event of a three-way tie at 6-2, Furman, which downed VMI on Nov. 10, would claim the AQ if it allows 16 points or fewer in a win at Mercer. If the Paladins allow more than 16 points, regardless of the margin of victory, Wofford, which wraps its regular season by hosting Presbyterian on Satur- day, would win the AQ by virtue of allowing the fewest points in SoCon play among the tied teams. Five league teams play non-conference opponents Saturday, and four of them are FBS schools. The Citadel has the most daunting task in No. 1 Ala- bama, while Chattanooga visits South Carolina, Western Carolina heads to North Carolina and VMI takes on ODU. Wofford hosts Presbyterian. At 8-2 overall and 6-1 in SoCon play, ETSU, which claimed a share of its first-ever SoCon title, has notched its most league wins since going 7-1 in 1996 en route to its only FCS postseason berth.

SOUTHLAND -- If Nicholls defeats Southeastern Louisiana Thursday in Thibodaux, the Colonels will claim the Southland Con- ference’s automatic qualifier for the Division I Football playoffs, as well as a share of the regular-season championship along with UIW. A Colonels win secures the AQ for Nicholls over UIW by virtue of its 48-21 win over the Cardinals on Oct. 27. If the Lions pull off the upset Thursday, UIW will earn the automatic qualifier and win the league’s regular-season title outright. The NCAA Division I Football Championship provides a field of 24 teams to compete in a single elimination tournament. Of the 24 teams, 10 confer- ence champions – including the Southland -- receive automatic qualifications with the remaining best 14 teams being selected on an at-large basis by the Division I Football Championship Committee. The top eight teams in the 24-team bracket for the championship are seeded and receive first round byes. Team pairings are determined according to geographical proximity. Teams from the same conference will not be paired for first round games or for second round games when both teams are playing their first games of the championship (except for teams from the same conference that did not play against each other during the regular season; such teams may play each other in the first and second round). The entire 24-team bracket will be revealed to a nationwide audience starting at 11:30 a.m. CT Sunday (Nov. 18) on ESPNU. The Southland hopes to have at least three teams in the field, matching last year’s total when regular-season champion Central Arkansas made the tourney, as well as Nicholls and Sam Houston State. The championship game is set for Jan. 5, 2019, marking the ninth consecutive year that the finale will be hosted by the Southland Confer- ence at Toyota Stadium in Frisco. For the first time in the program’s 10-year history, the Incarnate Word football team has earned a national ranking in the STATS FCS Media poll. The Cardinals come in at No. 24 after securing at least a share of the Southland Conference title on Saturday, when they defeated Central Arkansas, 40-27, in Conway. With the win, UIW stands at 6-4 (6-2 in SLC). UIW won its first football conference title in program history while securing its third winning season. UIW was perfect at home this season, winning all four games at Benson stadium, including victories over then-No. 6 McNeese (45-17, Oct. 20) and No. 21 Sam Houston State (43-26, Nov. 3). The Cardinals, led by head coach Eric Morris in his first year in San Antonio, were picked to finish 10th in the Southland preseason poll.

SWAC -- Alcorn is playing for its fifth consecutive SWAC East Division crown. The Braves are already the first team to ever play in four consecutive SWAC Championship games and are looking to make it five. With a win, Alcorn would lock-up home field advantage for the SWAC Championship game on Dec. 1. The winner of the Alcorn vs. JSU game will play the winner of the Southern vs. Grambling contest Nov. 24. The Braves are 14-2 against SWAC East Division foes over the last four years. Southern’s Dog Day’ defense made a statement early to dominate Arkansas-Pine Bluff 56-24 at A.W. Mumford Stadium last Saturday, pushing their winning streak to four games. With the win, Southern sets up a win-or-go-home regular season finale against heated rival Grambling State at the 45th annual Bayou Classic at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans November 24, at 4 p.m. on NBC Sports.
