  • Swift Forms Key Partnerships to Attract Indycar Business
SWIFT FORMS KEY PARTNERSHIPS TO ATTRACT INDYCAR BUSINESS Thumbnail image of one of Swift’s IndyCar concepts – see end of document for more concept images San Clemente, California – USA February 2010 American race car company, Swift Engineering, Inc. is proud to announce key motorsport partnerships with industry leading companies to further its bid to design and build the next generation race car chassis for the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series ®. “Given Swift is the leading US race car design and manufacturing company and our 27‐year history was founded in motorsport, it is only natural that we aspire to partner with the nations’ premier open‐wheel formula, the IZOD IndyCar Series,” Jan Wesley Refsdal, Swift’s president said. Key business alliances have been cemented between Swift and Cray Inc. (The Supercomputer Company), Indianapolis‐based Mark One Composites, Inc. and Cruden America, world leaders in motion racing simulators. “Individually, each one of these partnerships is critical to Swift’s continuing commitment to motorsport; however, collectively and in conjunction with one another they will help us set new industry standards in innovative design, manufacturing and support,” Refsdal stated. Swift’s strategic industry partnerships were carefully selected and cultivated through a focused effort to realize the challenge the IZOD IndyCar Series has set for its next generation car. Cray supercomputers will be used at Swift’s facility to further enhance its capabilities in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), an important tool in the design and development of aerodynamic concepts. In conjunction with Swift’s existing on‐site wind tunnel designs will be tested in accurate virtual models allowing for valuable driver feedback and performance data collection on Cruden’s state‐of‐the‐art 3Ctr 6‐DOF motion racing simulator which is soon to be operational at Swift.

Since that time it has grown to employ 6 full time personnel and provides services for a range of industries including Aerospace and Defense contractors and Federal agencies. We routinely perform over 100 projects per year and have provided services for over 400 individual companies. In addition to providing traditional engineering consulting services we also provide training in computational analysis using both traditional class room approaches and modern web based services. To extend the application of the technology we have developed individual stand alone products that can be used by people with limited or no experi- ence in computational analysis to allow them to apply the analytical tools on a daily basis. Most recently we have established joint ventures with other service providers to integrate our products and services with other capability so that the combined activities can address the comprehensive nature of problems in specific industry and market segments.

Space in our World November 2012 1000 Wilson Blvd., Suite 1700 Arlington, VA 22209-3901 USA 703 358-1000 www.aia-aerospace.org Space in our World November 2012 November 2012 Space in our World Now more than ever, space systems are essential to our society. Space programs keep us safe, grow our economy and advance the progress of civilization as no other field can. As we face our difficult fiscal challenges, it’s important to remember that investments in space keep our nation second to none in ways that nothing else can. Most Americans recognize space as a key expression of our national character. A Pew Research Poll found in 2011 that nearly 60 percent of Americans believe the United States should continue to lead the world in space exploration. They know our space programs are a globally recognized brand of American ingenuity. The recently landed Mars Rover Curiosity was the latest reminder that our space capabilities are the crown jewels of our nation. Less known is the indispensible value space systems bring to our everyday lives. Space provides irreplaceable capabilities for defense, public health, finance, medicine, energy, agriculture, transportation, development and countless other fields. Investments in space programs are precisely about improving and protecting life on Earth. Today, it’s not just about launches. Astronauts on the International Space Station are researching vaccines in microgravity lab conditions that can’t be replicated on Earth. Earth observation satellites and the Global Positioning System prepare and guide first responders during disasters like the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Weather satellites provide advanced warning to the emergency response officials and the public about hurricanes and other severe storms and help save lives when other natural disasters strike.
