India is no exception and in the Tamil country amongst the most famous rivers, Kaveri (among the seven sacred rivers of India) has been the source of wealth for several dynasties that rose and fell along her banks. Affectionately called Ponni, alluding to Pon being gold, the Kaveri river flows in Tamil Nadu for approx. 445 Kilometers out of its 765 Kilometers. Ancient poets have extolled her beauty and compared her to a woman who wears many fine jewels. If these jewels are the prosperous settlements on her banks, the island of Srirangam 500 acres and 13 kilometers long and 7 kilometers at its widest must be her crest jewel. Everything about Srirangam is massive – it is at 156 acres (perimeter of 10,710 feet) the largest Hindu temple complex in worship after Angkor which is now a Buddhist temple.

Looking back, in the month of January - our Andal Group has been bestowed with plenty of kaimkaryams – “rApathu” chanting at SVT: From 6th Jan (starting from vaikunta ekAdasi) till 15th Jan 2020, our gOshti bhAgavthAs participated in rendering thiruvAimozhi as part of rApathu chanting to please the divya dhampathis at Yatheendragiri. GGG Utsavam: One of our flagship event the GGG Utsavam was celebrated at SVT on Sunday 12th Jan. It was a divine experience with all bhAgavathAs helping each other with arrangements, cooking, cleaning, serving and singing. It was a fun filled blissful day, with cooking the delicious akkaraadisal and rendering it to gOvindan (yathEndragiri perumAL) on behalf of gOdha (AndAL) by his brother gOdhagrajar (svAmi rAmAnujA) and hence the name GGG utsavam. Screening of ghantAvathAram: As many of you may already be gantAvathAram screening aware, Shri U Ve Ananthapadmanabhanachar Swami (APN Swami) has taken great effort and produced and acted in a movie called ghantAvathAram. It is a movie about Swami Desikan. It has been screened in India regularly in the last month and has received great reviews. The first screening of this movie (we believe, the Australian Premiere screening) took place on Sat, Jan 18th in Sydney. Due to popular demand from the many who could not attend the first screening, we are pleased to announce a second screening on Sat, Feb 1st at 3pm at the T2 theatre in the Mason Theatre building, Macquarie Uni campus.

SrI devi, BhU devi and nILA devi are sadagopan.org the three devis who stay on both the sides of the Lord in Paramapadam. On the right side stays SrI Devi celebrated by SrI sUktam. On the left are BhU Devi and nILA Devi eulogized by BhU and nILA sUktams respectively. Swamy Desikan composed SrI stuti, BhU stuti and GodA stuti to celebrate these three divine consorts of SrIman nArAyaNan. SrI devi (Periya PirATTi) is the embodiment of the Lord’s dayA (compassion), BhU devi is the personification of the Lord’s kshamA guNam (forbearance and patience to forgive our trespasses) and nILA devi is the personification of the Lord’s audArya guNam (koDai in Tamil or generosity).
