PRESENTED BY: November 6, 2018 THANK YOU TO OUR LEGENDS BALL PRESENTING SPONSOR Congratulations to Brian Flores 2018 Legends Award honoree The Hockomock Area YMCA extends our heartfelt appreciation to CVS Health for their commitment and generous support. Thank you for the incredible impact your support makes possible for all the young people and their families in our Integration Initiative. WE ARE VERY PROUD TO WELCOME YOU TO OUR 13TH ANNUAL LEGENDS BALL Good evening and welcome to our 13th annual Legends Ball. This signature event for our Hockomock Area YMCA, combined with our annual Legends Golf Classic, will raise more than $250,000 to support and embrace inclusion at our Y and in our community. The creation our Integration Initiative in 2004 was and remains our wish to respond to the needs of local children and families, providing opportunities for children, teens and young adults with disabilities to participate alongside their typically developing peers in Hockomock Area YMCA programs, activities and services. Our dreams for the Legends Ball have far exceeded our expectations since we began this annual celebration. As a result, more than 1,100 families over the last 14 years have been impacted in a way that defines our original purpose and early wish for our members and our communities. Tonight’s gathering is deeply symbolic of the culture of inclusion embraced at our Y, embraced by all of our donors, volunteers and staff. Embraced by all of you. For that, we are incredibly thankful and particularly proud. A special thank you to our presenting sponsor CVS Health. We are grateful to all of our Legends Ball sponsors acknowledged this evening and throughout the pages of this program. We could not have a Legends Ball without New England sports legends. We appreciate each of our legends who display the same passion and dedication for helping our YMCA community as they have demonstrated in their athletic careers. Their commitment results in the smiles you will see on the faces of young people tonight and throughout the year. And of course we remain continually grateful to Peter Brock for his leadership and vision. Pete has chaired the Legends Ball since its inception. This evening we honor New England Patriots Coach Brian Flores with our Legends Award, presented annually to a New England sports legend for accomplishments on the field coupled with commitment to giving back off the field. Brian’s commitment to this cause and to his family is profound. Brian’s younger brother Christopher is an active participant on our Integration Initiative. Their relationship constantly reminds us of what is most important in life and why inclusion is at the heart of what defines us as people and members of a society based on values and ideals. Brian played linebacker for the Boston College Eagles from 1999 to 2003. In 2004, he joined the New England Patriots as a scout before becoming a coach in 2008. His career with the Patriots and his ascension to this year’s defensive play caller is indicative of Brian’s tremendous character, drive and commitment to excellence. Brian Flores is a role model to all the young people he meets and influences and all of us at the Hockomock Area YMCA are proud to call him a friend. The real stars of this evening, as they are each year, are the young people who benefit year round from the funds raised. Every day these amazing young people and their families will be reminded of your commitment to inclusion and community. Thank you for joining us, helping honor Brian Flores, and for making our Integration Initiative a nationally recognized model for inclusion and respect. The generosity displayed this evening and every year is not only a generosity of funds, but a generosity of spirit that reflects our collective devotion to enhancing the quality of life for us all. Since 2004, more than 1,100 children and families have participated in our Initiative. Many participants have grown up in the program and families continue to look to our Y to provide more opportunities as children transition into the challenges of young adulthood. The following programs offer environments for social growth, relationship building and the comfort in knowing the Y is here for families.
