And that?s exactly what they did. However, before the game started we had our annual Senior Night. The senior members of the Football Team, Marching Band, and Color Guard were walked across the field by family members and or friends. After this, the game started and by the end of the second quarter we were tied. The Marching Band and Color Guard performed again, this time with some added visuals. And of course no football game is complete without a group of people to get the crowd excited, which the Scarlet Flier Cheerleaders excelled. As the night progressed we kept scoring, resulting in us winning 34 to 7. Our third home game of the season was the annual game against Asbury Park High School. This game is usually held on Thanksgiving Day, but this year it was moved to the first Saturday of November. Our team held their own and for most of the game we were tied. As always the Marching Band, Color Guard, and Cheerleaders offered entertainment and enthusiasm. Unfortunately we lost the game 12 to 26, but considering how rough 2020 has been, it?s nice we were at least able to have the game this year, especially considering what a valued tradition it is. “Lover” rings discordant, but resurrects the old Taylor “Lover” rings discordant, but resurrects the old Taylor graphic by Nina Li Taylor Swift is the kind of celebrity that needs no introduction. Since 2006 with Taylor Swift, she has topped the charts and won awards, planting her securely in the realm of unforgettable musicians. Her name has come to be synonymous with a certain genre: love songs. In her seventh album, Lover, Swift fully embraces that brand with a maturity and honesty that is missing from her earlier albums. The old Taylor appears to have come back to life for Lover. The darker persona she adopted for Reputation has faded into pastels and glitter — which isn’t a bad thing. While Lover lacks auditory unity over its long run (at 18 tracks, it’s her longest yet), Swift crafts a powerful and beautiful statement — she chooses to love. Lover shows a complete turnaround from her last album, Reputation, released two years prior. Instead of addressing hate and bad public image, Swift instead returns to the love songs that vaulted her into fame in the first place. From the very first track, she rejects the idea that this album is about someone else. “I Forgot That You Existed” is a sassy takedown of anyone claiming that this album is petty or spiteful. But she doesn’t linger on that, transitioning to “Cruel Summer,” an upbeat song about a failing romance. Strangely, the contrast works; “Cruel Summer” is one of the strongest tracks on the album. The fierce lyricism that is a theme with Swift is showcased here with vivid imagery and evocative language.

  • 'Taylor Swift: Miss Americana' Review: a Star, Scathingly Alone
CRITIC’S PICK ‘Taylor Swift: Miss Americana’ Review: A Star, Scathingly Alone Self-critical, grown up and ready, perhaps, to deliver a message beyond the music. By Wesley Morris Taylor Swift: Miss Americana NYT Critic's Pick Directed by Lana Wilson Documentary 1h 25m “Miss Americana” is 85 minutes of translucence with Taylor Swift. There’s more in it — and more to it — than you usually get with these pop superstar portraits. I, at least, don’t recall loneliness being such a predominant condition for Swift’s peers as it is, here, for her. Not long after the movie doles out a deluxe rise-to-the-top montage, we hear Swift ask no one in particular, “Shouldn’t I have someone to call right now?” This from a woman who’s famous — notorious, actually — for her squad of besties. Otherwise, it’s lonely up there. Even the man she says she’s seeing is a figment in this movie, cropped from images, a hand-holding blur, a ghost. On Grammy nomination day in the winter of 2018, a camera watches from a low angle as Swift sits in sweats alone on a sofa and hears from her publicist that her perturbed sixth album, “Reputation,” has been omitted from three of the big categories. She’s stoic. She’s almost palpably hurt. But Swift’s songwriting treats hurt as an elastic instrument, and she resolves in that moment of snubbing, “I just need to make a better record.” And the movie watches as she writes and records “Lover,” another album eventually rejected by the string-pullers at the Grammys.
