Vol.14/ No.48/ Jun 2017 Received 2017/03/04 Accepted 2017/05/15 Persian translation of this paper entitled: الگویابی معماری مساجد هند is also published in this issue of journal. Finding the Patterns of Indian Mosques Architecture Ehsan Dizany* Abstract India is one of the countries that has had diverse civilizations from the distant past, so in architectural standpoint, this country is rich and varied. The arrival of Islam in India and the formation of Islamic governments led to the formation of a certain type of Islamic architecture in this subcontinent. The architecture of Indian mosques is evaluated as a prominent model of Islamic architecture of subcontinent. This study is based on the assumption that the pattern of Indian mosques architecture is a combination of early Iranian-Islamic architecture of mosques and Indian vernacular architecture. Finding the roots of Architectural features of Indian mosques is the subject of this article. In this paper, the influence of early Islamic mosques’ architecture and rich and historical architecture of India on Indian mosques architecture before the arrival of Islam and the architecture of developed Islamic civilizations in the Indian neighborhoods such as Iran, is studied. Generally Indian mosques architectural features include prayer-hall in the Qibla direction, existence of courtyard, Four-Iwan pattern, crusts odd divisions, especially triple ones, presence of mosque in plaza and its position on a Soffeh (in height), access to the mosque entrances by wide stairs, triple divisions of Gonbad Khane in the Qibla direction and the use of transparent porticos around courtyard (Half of the outer crust that has external view).

The aim of the GWES project is 1/ to consider extreme events (natural and man-induced) that could adversely influence human health and life, 2/ to support countries repeatedly affected by such events in the setting up of emergency plans and mitigation schemes to secure drinking water supply, and 3/ to identify in advance potential safe groundwater resources which could temporarily replace damaged water supply systems. The results of this project will allow countries to minimize the dependence of threatened population on vulnerable drinking water supplies. Groundwater bodies are naturally less vulnerable and more resistant than surface waters to external impact. Deep aquifers naturally protected from the earth surface by geological environ- ment should be therefore, identified and evaluated.

There were no high-rise buildings visible, Iand the city stretched out flat and low. I couldn’t wait until day broke to see and explore the city, located about 630 kilometers southeast of Tehran. Yazd was the center of Zoroastrianism when the Sasanian Empire (224 to 651 C.E.) ruled Persia, and takes its name from Yazdegerd I, one of the rulers of the dynasty, who reigned from 399 to 421. Zoroastrianism is an ancient mono- theistic religion founded more than 3,500 years ago by Zoroaster (or Zarathustra), and was the predominant faith during the Sasanian era. I wanted to know more about it, so the next morning I hired a taxi to take me to the Towers of Silence, among the last remnants of that time. • Olympic Weightlifting
Olympic Weightlifting Olympic weightlifting, or weightlifting, is an athletic discipline in the modern Olympic programme in which the athlete attempts a maximum-weight single lift of a barbell loaded with weight plates. Qualifying – the road to Rio Qualification is based on the results of the 2014 and 2015 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships and the 2016 Continental Championships. No more than six men and four women can qualify per country, with a maximum of two athletes per event. Brazil, as host country, is guaranteed five quota places, three for men and two for women. No New Zealand weightlifters have qualified for Rio as yet. The best chance for qualification for our weightlifters is via the Oceania qualifying event being held in Fiji in early 2016. At this event qualifying is based on team results, not individuals. Teams must place in the top three for women to gain one Olympic spot, and men must place in the top four to gain a spot. A women’s team has seven members and a men’s team has eight. If the New Zealand teams are successful at this qualification event in gaining places at the Rio Games, then our selectors will choose one male weightlifter and one female weightlifter to go (in agreement with the NZOC). Rio 2016 Weightlifting When: Competition will take place over 10 days from 7-14 August 2016 (with no competition on 15 August). Where: Riocentro – Pavilion 2. Men will compete in eight events based on athlete weight categories, from under 56kg to the super- heavyweights at over 105kg.
