He has become a headline star in the A1 last couple of years with his own parties and heartfelt house jams finding favour with DJs and dancers all over. His take on 'Tamarind' is an unsettling tech cut with snaking synths bringing a sense of paranoia to the fluttering percussion and loopy drums. Hard to pin down German innovator Acid Pauli then flips A2 'Coffee Clouds' into a spacious and warm, rubbery and deep house groove with delicate little synth droplets and wooden percussive ticks. It's gooey and hypnotic, to be sure. Moon Harbour man Emanuel Satie is next and goes for the peak of the night with his busy and high pressure take on 'Frenzy'. A1 One of Jamaica's most highly/rated vocalists, Alton Ellis made an incredible contribution to the island's A2 popular music. Blessed with a particularly emotive voice that brings shivers to the spine whether singing A3 original material or cover tunes, Ellis was born and raised in Trench Town, the west Kingston ghetto area that gave rise to Bob Marley and the Wailers and countless other singers. Ellis and singing partner Eddie A4 Parkins hit big in 1961 with the ballad uriel' for Coxsone Dodd, and after Parkins moved to the USA, Ellis A5 teamed briefly with John Holt, and then began fronting the Flames harmony group. He excelled in the B1 rock steady style, christening the genre with ock Steady' and Have Got A Date,' bouncing between B2 Studio One and Treasure Isle for a number of years. From 1971, he spent increasing period in London, but continued to record hits in Jamaica for various producers. The 1979 release Love To Share was arranged B3 by the great Studio One keyboardist, Jackie Mittoo, who co/produced the album with Junior Lincoln, B4 founder of the London/based Bamboo label< the disc straddles the line between lover's rock and roots B5 reggae, remaining a lesser/known classic

A A3 natural/born toaster, his rhyming raps always sounded effortless, whether describing the harsh realities of A4 the inner city, or making light of nonsense nursery rhymes. A former employee at Customs and Excise, he was first active on a sound system called Soul Bunnies in the rock steady era, moving to Son's Junior in A5 1968, and later, to the legendary Supreme Ruler of Sound, defecting to the rival Stereo sound system after A6 that. Hits for Harry Mudie and other producers soon followed, and after the killer debut album Presenting I B1 Roy impacted overseas, the toaster began spending frequent periods in London. A5 The house band of Bunny triker' Lee was formed in the mid/1970s by some of Jamaica's most prominent A6 and musically expressive session players. The shifting core line/up spun off from the Soul Syndicate and A7 thus typically featured Earl Shinna' Smith and Tony Chin on guitar and Bernard ¶outer' Harvey on organ. A8 Carlton anta' was the main drummer, but Carlton Barrett of the Wailers band and [1]enbow' Creary were sometimes featured. Since the turn of the decade as New Jackson he has mined a seam of driving, ghostly house to run parallel with his solo strand of ambient folk B1 electronica. "Instead, I asked him to tell me the story of A5 his encounter with her and his experience of the shooting in California", Lawrence recalls. After all, A6 Terranova's approach to Haraway, a science philosopher known for his work on gender, identity, A7 technology and trans-species relationships, had also been an unorthodox one. Far from deepening too much in theoretical concepts, the director spent a summer filming Haraway and her dog Cayenne at her B1 home in Southern California. Maybe that's the reason why the sounds in "Music For Documentaries" feels so B2 genuine and palpable. Inspired by Terranova's stories about wandering, nature, the deep sea, the West B3 Coast winds, Science Fiction and surf, Lawrence produced a series of short pieces that, a bit like a B4 Miyazaki film, connect the purity of nature to an esoteric dimension. A1 Berlin's own Marco Haas aka T.RAUMSCHMIERE made an irreparable impression globally in the 00's as a sawtoothed, ANTI-rave radical thanks to his immense stage antics and larger-than-life releases on A2 Novamute. Since then, Haas has established himself as a contemporary with emotive, dark ambient tales B1 on his own imprints Shitkatapult/Albumlabel. KOMPAKT's love affair with Haas goes back to our earliest days. Some of his first tracks were released on KOMPAKT in the form of two raw EP's entitled "Bolzplatz" B2 (KOM021 - 2000) and "Musick" (KOM037 2001). These two formative releases elevated the "Schaffel" sound C1 to raw and shameless places we never could have imagined. The results set a tidal wave in motion that to this day remains one of KOMPAKT's most infamous legacies. The Art of Flying EP presents two original tracks and a pair of remixes of the lead cut. The original 'Art of Flying' is quite a statement - a jazzy, swingy beat introduces the B1 track, before solidifying around punchy 4 / 4 groove. WAVE / EXPERIM. / USA INDUSTRIAL A1 A2 A3 Thomas Leer is an innovative electronic musician from Port Glasgow, Scotland. He began singing for a B1 local band at age 13, and was writing his own music by 18. By 1977, he had moved to London, where he B2 fronted Pressure, a ClashÂ•-esque punk group with fellow experimental Scottish musician Robert Rental. After hearing Kraftwerk, Leer became interested in synthesizers â not long after, he was exploring the B3 experimental techniques of Eno, Zappa, Beefheart, Faust, and Can. In 1978, Thomas released his first single, C1 'Private Plane'/'International', on his own Oblique Records that we reissued in 2015. '1979' is a 14-song C2 collection spread across two pieces of vinyl clocking in at 70 minutes. Leer says, '1979' was a great year C3 for making music. The punk explosion two years earlier, cleansed the palate and opened up minds to new sonic possibilities. It was in this spirit I took to exploring electronics and set up my first little home studio.
