THE TIDE JETTY A Broadland tale of love and shifting currents on the mudflats of Breydon Water… Creeting St Mary Jubilee Hall Friday 5th April, 7.30 p.m. Tickets £12 (£10 concessions) David Allan: (01449) 720061 Glynis Clint: (01449) 720740 Once again Eastern Angles are planning to head out on the road with their 18/19 Spring Tour. Next year we will be touring The Tide Jetty by Tony Ramsay, a Norfolk based playwright. Tide Jetty is set in the 1860s. The story focuses on two brothers, Tucky and Nathan. They grow up on the banks of Breydon alongside tomboy, Eliza. The three of them are inseparable as children. Tucky, the eldest, is a bit of a lad, whilst is Nathan quieter and more inward. As they grow older the inevitable happens. Eliza turns into a woman and they both fall for her. As they grow up, they are haunted by an accident which tears them apart, only to be reunited and must face not only the past but an uncertain future.

The Dave Quinton Darts Memorial Competition Needham Market Community Centre Sat 9th March What a day! 80 darts players took part in the Memorial Competition in Memory of Dave ‘Quinny’ Quinton, a member of the League-winning team that played for the Institute and the Three Tuns.

The Community Centre didn’t know what had hit it! Eight dart boards lined up in front of the stage, sixteen groups of five playing a round robin to find the top two players from each team to go forward to the knock-out stage of the competition.

It was great to see so much support for ‘Quinny’, the players and Marie Curie. The hall Dave ‘Quinny’ Quinton filled up with people, drinks flowed, raffle tickets were sold and the atmosphere was friendly and electric.

Slowly but surely the players were whittled down to the last four. The fight for 3rd and 4th place was very close and very loud and the final between Steve ‘Bertie’ Burton and Josh Pinder had everyone gripping their seats. Steve won the final which was fitting as he was also part of the Institute/Three Tuns team.

The total raised for Marie Curie was an impressive £2,238 – a testament to the esteem in which ‘Quinny’, our ‘Bronze Adonis’ was held. This total could not have been possible without donations from Jan Quinton, Tracey’s Legacy, Needham Market Raft Race, Glasswell and Last, Trevor Theobold, Cedar Park Darts Team, Needham Chalks Josh Pinder - Runner-up, Steve Burton-winner, (HAM) Ltd, Jake Squirrell, Ollie Squirrell, Steve Burton, Kelly’s Cabs, The Three Tuns, Jan Quinton, Tom Quinton Martin Hugh Scott, Jayne & David Arthur, Paul Berryman and Lacy, Scott and Knight.

A massive thank you must also go to Darren and Kara from Evolution Darts, Chomps Catering, and Martin and the team from the Community Centre. Thank you to everyone that played, came to support, made a donation and helped set up and clear up afterwards. The day went so well we are going to make it an annual event, so see you next year on the Oche!
