Barclay was a longtime resident of the Edgewater neighborhood in Chicago and maintained an extensive collection of playbills many from local Chicago theatres. Scope and Content The Betty A. Barclay Playbill collection consists of 3.75 linear feet spanning the years 1942 – 2000 and includes playbills from plays, musicals, and ballet performances at Chicago area theatres from 1942-2000. It also includes two publications featuring reviews and a small collection of playbills from other cities including New York, Minneapolis, Seattle, Boston, San Francisco, and San Diego. Series Series 1: Publications, 1949, Undated Box 1 This series consists of an article cut-out reviewing two ballet performances and a directory featuring advertisements and review articles for entertainment in Chicago. Series 2: Chicago, 1942-2000, Undated Boxes 1-9 This series contains playbills from ballet, musical, and play performances from Chicago area theatres including large collections from the Auditorium Theatre, American Ballet Betty A.
