Columbus Blue Jackets Assign Defenseman Gabriel Carlsson and Right Wing Kole Sherwood to Ahl’S Cleveland Monsters FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: JANUARY 14, 2019 COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS ASSIGN DEFENSEMAN GABRIEL CARLSSON AND RIGHT WING KOLE SHERWOOD TO AHL’S CLEVELAND MONSTERS COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman Gabriel Carlsson and right wing Kole Sherwood to the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Carlsson, 22, suited up in the Blue Jackets’ 2018-19 season opener at Detroit on October 4, registering one shot and two penalty minutes in 9:21 of ice time. He has collected three assists and six penalty minutes in 17 career games with the Jackets since making his NHL debut at the end of the 2016-17 campaign. In 2017-18, the 6-5, 192-pound defenseman tallied 0-2-2, four penalty minutes and an “even” plus/minus rating in 14 outings with the team. Columbus’ second first round pick, 29th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft, the Orebro, Sweden native has also notched 3- 12-15 and 22 penalty minutes in 68 career AHL contests with the Monsters. He has posted 1-8-9 and six penalty minutes in 32 games with the team this season. Sherwood, 21, has notched 4-3-7 with 22 penalty minutes in 22 games with the Monsters this season, leading club rookies in penalty minutes and ranking third in goals, assists, points and games played. He has added 1-0-1 in three contests with the ECHL’s Jacksonville IceMen. The New Albany, Ohio native has registered 4-3-7 and 24 penalty minutes in 24 career AHL games with the Monsters since making his pro debut at the end of the 2016-17 campaign. He tallied 75-104-179, 169 penalty minutes and was +33 in 180 career Ontario Hockey League games with the London Knights, Flint Firebirds and Kitchener Rangers from 2015- 18, including 30-30-60 in 57 contests with the Rangers in 2017-18. Signed by the Blue Jackets to a three-year, entry level contract on July 7, 2015, the 6-1, 202-pound right wing played three seasons with the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets organization from 2012-15. The Blue Jackets return to action on Tuesday when they host the New Jersey Devils. Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET. MacInnis, 25, made his 2020-21 season debut on March 18 at Carolina and has skated in six games with the club. The St. Louis, Missouri native has added 26-61-87 and 133 penalty minutes in 250 career American Hockey League contests, including 1-1-2 in five appearances with the Cleveland Monsters in 2020-21. The 6-4, 201-pound forward was acquired in a trade from the Arizona Coyotes on July 18, 2018. He was originally selected by the Coyotes in the second round, 43rd overall, at the 2014 NHL Draft.
