2 01 SCÉNIC XMOD, THE LEADING CROSSOVER-

STYLED MINIVAN With its flowing lines and determined gaze, Scénic Xmod features the brand’s new design identity and crossover attributes. While retaining all the DNA of Renault Scénic, the standard-setting European minivan since 1996, Scénic Xmod declares its difference with style.

Outdoor-focused with the promise of adventure

Athletic and elegant, the Scénic Xmod is a winning combination of the outdoor style of the crossover and the meticulous world of the minivan. Gaining an extra ten millimeters in ground clearance, it sports an expressive design informed by crossover cues including special front and rear bumpers, underbody protection and chrome-finished roof bars (according to trim level).

Scénic Xmod also boasts standard-fit chrome-surrounded LED daytime running lights and 16-inch Design and 16- and 17-inch Alliage wheel rims.

3 The car’s stand-alone styling is underscored by an Xmod badge on the door sill (for Privilège and Bose® models, according to country) and the tailgate.

“When designing Scénic Xmod we based ourselves on Scénic Collection 2012. We gave it an extra 10 mm ground clearance and widened the rear track 20 mm and the front track 10 mm to set the vehicle higher and give it more stability. In the crossover spirit, we also reworked the side protection and the rocker panel and redesigned the front and rear bumpers with SUV-style skidplates. The tailgate was also completely changed for design harmony. All in all, this was a major restyle but subtly done, giving strength to the vehicle. The result is an attractive, go-anywhere and versatile car. Scénic Xmod is as sophisticated and refined as its predecessors, with an assertive personality.”

Jean-Phillipe Texier, Design project manager, M1 range

These design features express the robustness and reliability of Scénic Xmod in a subtle fashion.

Scénic Xmod is available in nine body colors and introduces a new metallic paint, “Jaune Automne” (“Autumn Yellow”).

Interior design dedicated to driving pleasure

The interior design has been revamped with a driver-focused fixed central console with a cockpit-style driving position. The console, within easy reach, features the Extended Grip thumbwheel (see below) and a multidirectional joystick for controlling the multimedia interface.

The dashboard, with its digital thin-film transistor (TFT) display, and the Renault R-Link touch-operated and connected multimedia system (optional) display all the necessary driving information simply and clearly.

Privilège and Bose® models (depending on the country) feature a flattened-base steering wheel with added sportiness and grip, along with an aluminum pedal set and gearstick and new gloss-anodized dark-carbon interior design touches. The driver’s seat boasts overstitching and special new upholstery.

5 02

NEW TECHNOLOGY ON SCÉNIC XMOD. WHEN PRACTICALITY MEETS PLEASURE Renault sets great store in driving pleasure, safety and peace of mind and harnesses new technologies to bring motorists more comfort and serenity.

Extended Grip. For adventure with complete peace of mind

Scénic Xmod is the first vehicle in the range to be fitted with the new Extended Grip system. An advanced grip control function, it is an upgrade of the anti-skid system that maintains vehicle grip in all difficult driving conditions, including snow, mud and sand. Drivers used the thumb wheel on the central console to choose the assistance setting, from “Road”, “Uneven ground” or “Expert”. The default “Road” setting is used for hard ground (dry, wet and iced-over) and corresponds to the conventional anti-skid setting. It reactivates automatically when the car reaches 40 km/h (or if another setting has been selected between times).

The driver selects “Uneven ground” to let the extended grip system take over control of the drive wheels. This setting automatically works on engine torque and the brakes to allow the front wheels to skid more, enabling the mud-and-snow tires to clear mud or sand from the road, increasing vehicle grip to maintain forward motion.

With the “Expert” setting, drivers choose to fully control engine torque and acceleration while delegating control of the brakes to the system.

The Extended Grip system is combined with mud-and-snow tires featuring a special tread for effectively clearing mud, sand and soft snow.

6 Technology for safety

Scénic Xmod provides safety and comfort thanks to the Visio System®.

Using a front camera mounted behind the interior rearview mirror, the system:

- emits a sound and vision alert if the car involuntary crosses a white line,

- automatic headlights, which switch from high-beam to low-beam with no driver input, for maximum visibility without dazzling oncoming drivers.

Vehicle maneuvers are made easier by a reversing camera, helping drivers to avoid obstacles behind the car. This technology is combined with a reversing radar, which tells drivers how far away they are from an obstacle via a beeping sound and on-screen colors.

Scénic Xmod further emphasizes safety in the vehicle vicinity with “follow me home” lights, which light up the exterior for 30 seconds to two minutes after the vehicle is closed.

Scénic Xmod inherits all the safety of its predecessors, Scénic and Grand Scénic, which scored five stars in EuroNCAP tests right from launch in 2009.

Multimedia gets smart

Scénic Xmod is fitted with the new Renault R-Link multimedia system that provides drivers with a touch interface and voice recognition function for:

- operating the Carminat TomTom LIVE navigation system,

- listening to mobile music (Bluetooth, auxiliary and USB),

- making hands-free calls,

- enjoying multimedia services,

- controlling vehicle equipment.

All R-Link functionalities are can also be accessed using the joystick on the central console and the steering wheel-mounted controls.

The user-friendly 7-inch (18 cm) color screen and the “menu” homepage make navigating through the system functions child’s play.

Ergonomic and practical, R-Link display can be customized in terms of driver preference and direct access to favorites.

R-Link is as comprehensive in content as it is affordable in price, with some 50 apps available at the R-Link Store (weather, gas prices, points of interest, etc.).

With R-Link, multimedia becomes part of the in-car experience and makes everyday life easier with user-friendly technology.

7 03 XMOD FEATURES ALL THE DNA OF SCÉNIC, FOR TRAVELLING COMFORT AND QUALITY Scénic Xmod benefits from all the expertise that has made Scénic a minivan icon. From recognized quality levels and roominess in all seats to top-class versatility and storage compartments for all passengers, the new model features all the qualities praised by our customers and the trade press.

Spacious and versatile

Scénic Xmod retains all the strong points that have made Scénic the standard-setter in the compact minivan segment, namely spaciousness and versatility bringing all passengers unbeatable comfort.

The front seats bring driver and passenger a roomy and comfortable environment:

- best headroom in segment at 968 mm

- elbow and hip room are also best in class.

Row 2 in the generous Scénic Xmod is incredibly roomy with class-leading shoulder and elbow room and optimum access.

8

With a boot measuring up to 555 liters, Scénic Xmod has one of the largest load volumes in the category.

It also features a host of storage spaces ingeniously laid out around the cabin, including to the left of the steering wheel, near the dashboard, near the gearbox, in the front and rear door panels, and the glove box.

Other compartments include drawers under the seats, three pockets per seat and aircraft-style trays.

In all, there are no less than 71 liters of clever storage space.

The modular design of Scénic Xmod is simple, effective and quick to organize. The seats are independent, folding and removable, providing a range of combinations. Load volume can be increased to 1,837 dm3 with the rear seats folded down and 2,037 dm3 with the rear seats removed.

Quality ensured from design to finish

Renault’s work on quality is personified by Scénic, ranked best compact minivan on reliability in numerous surveys carried out by independent bodies.

A January 2012 survey by L’Automobile Magazine on “28 no-worry cars” (“28 modèles sans souci”) ranked Scénic number-one in the minivan category.

As with the rest of the Scénic family, Xmod benefits from the quality improvements of the Mégane family.

Reliability is a core focus from design to finish via production at the plant.

DOUAI PLANT: QUALITY EXPERTISE

Production of the Mégane I hatchback began in 1995 at the Douai plant, followed a year later by Mégane Classic and Scénic. Some 4,300,000 Scénics have been manufactured at the plant since launch in 1996.

Thanks to the expertise forged by the rigor and professionalism of all the employees at the site, the quality of Mégane family vehicles is applauded far and wide.

Renault has invested €420 million to adapt and modernize the Douai plant, which aims to become the production site for the brand’s high-end models. To back that ambition, the plant has introduced a quality policy involving the entire workforce called the “Douai Certified Quality Plan”. The plan is based on four pillars: the adoption of quality standards and habits; day-to-day coordination; top-level skills and behavior; and an increased focus on perceived quality.

10

Scénic Xmod inherits all the onroad qualities of the Mégane family, which have been roundly applauded by the press. With its raised ground clearance and Extended Grip system, Scénic Xmod boasts exemplary road manners.

In a further mark of quality, Scénic Xmod is available (depending on the version) with a Bose® audio system for customized sound and top-notch acoustic performance.

04 SCÉNIC XMOD’S ENERGETIC ENGINES MEAN LOWER FUEL CONSUMPTION AND EMISSIONS AND MORE PLEASURE All the engines in the Energy range share the same philosophy of drastically reducing fuel

consumption and CO2 emissions while upholding driving pleasure.

Performance and economy with the all-new TCe 130

The Energy TCe 130 engine, a symbol of Renault’s powertrain excellence, is an integral part of the renewal of Renault’s gasoline offering standing alongside the Energy TCe 115. The TCe 130 has an impressive roundness, is supple and responsive, and treats drivers to dynamic pulling-away power even at low engine speeds. It also knows how to remain discreet, with its silent operation and seamless, ultra-fast Stop&Start system. The new powerplant reduces fuel consumption by 15%, or more than 1 l/100 km 1 , compared with the previous TCe 130.

Successful engine range

Scénic Xmod is powered by the Energy engines on Scénic, upgraded between May 2011 and May 2012.

- Energy dCi 110: a best-selling engine produced in over 1.1 million units in 2012. The engine, a real concentrate of technologies, was designed to be frugal, efficient and environment-respectful. Emitting 105 g/km of CO21, it is one of the top performers on the market.

- Energy dCi 130: a 1.6-liter combining low fuel consumption with high-energy performance. Inspired by Renault’s Formula 1 engine, it develops maximum power of 130 hp and consumes just 4.4 l/100 km1.

- Energy TCe 115: Renault’s first direct-injection turbo gasoline powerplant. The Energy TCe 115 scores high on flexibility and boasts maximum power of 115 hp – a record for a 1.2-liter gasoline engine.

1 Fuel consumption and emissions approved according to prevailing regulation. 12 These modern and fully optimized engines feature a complementary fit of technologies:

- a Stop & Start system, which automatically cuts out the engine when the vehicle comes to a halt, economizing over 1 liter of fuel per 100 km1 in urban driving,

- regenerative braking, derived from Renault’s Formula 1 experience, for lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions,

- downsizing, which consists of reducing engine capacity and CO2 emissions while safeguarding performance through the use of a turbocharger.

Scénic Xmod is also available with the dCi 110 engine mated to the EDC dual-clutch gearbox. This gearbox has scored immense success by combining the strongest points of manual and automatic transmissions.

The EDC is a “real” automatic gearbox that changes gears with no driver input. But it operates with driveshafts and pinions rather than the epicycloidal gear trains used on conventional automatic transmissions.

The dual clutch provides quick and seamless gear shifts since there is no interruption in the of torque to the wheels. The system has all the smoothness of a traditional automatic gearbox but with a lighter and more frugal architecture.

The dCi 110 engine is a segment leader on low running and maintenance costs. It is particularly economical and has potential for continuous improvement. The Euro 5 version is fitted with a particulate filter guaranteed for life (over 300,000 km). Oil changes are every 30,000 km (or every two years) and the lifespan of the diesel filter is 60,000 km.

Depending on the country, the engine range also includes a dCi 110 powerplant without a Stop & Start system as well as a 1.6 16V variant with excellent fuel consumption for the price tag.

13 05 RENAULT RENEWS SCÉNIC AND GRAND SCÉNIC, THE STAR MINIVANS Coinciding with the launch of Scénic Xmod, Scénic and Grand Scénic have been renewed to take on the brand’s new design identity. The segment standard-setters have gained in personality and tech content.

The no.1 compact minivan in Europe gets even more personality

New Scénic and Grand Scénic have gained a new front end with a grille highlighted by the enlarged Renault logo set against a gloss black background.

The new materials give the models a more expressive and premium look, bringing them even more personality and assertive appeal and vitality.

In another new feature, the LED daytime running lights feature a distinctive light signature, from the very first trim level.

14

“New Scénic and Grand Scénic have naturally taken on the new brand identity, notably through the restyle made on Scénic Collection 2012. The work carried out on the almond-shaped lights of that model made this integration easier. We mainly focused on the upper part of the grille, setting the enlarged logo against a gloss black background, which underscores the pride of the brand.

So the upgrade is a natural continuation but has a strong impact for Renault since New Scénic and Grand Scénic now fully incorporate the brand’s new design identity.

The three minivans have gained in modernity, each one featuring complementary values. New Scénic retains its dynamic nature, New Grand Scénic confirms its prestigious positioning, and Xmod with its urban crossover attributes conveys robustness.”

Agneta Dahlgren-Hermine, C Range Design Director

New features for the segment-leading minivan

Renault is reasserting the innovative spirit of the segment pioneer and repositioning it at the cutting edge by equipping it with the latest Energy engine and Renault R-Link, the in-car, connected multimedia touch tablet.

New Scénic and Grand Scénic are available with the Energy TCe 130, the latest engine in the Energy range – a symbol of Renault’s powertrain excellence.

The silent and dynamic unit offers real-life driving pleasure.

In the city it provides maximum safety through extra responsiveness, for enhanced agility when overtaking and decelerating. With torque of 205 Nm, acceleration is smooth and pleasant.

And with power of 130 hp, driving is responsive and comfortable alike, with fuel consumption of just 6.2 l/100 km1 (6.4 l1 for Grand Scénic), a full 15% less than the TCe 130.

1 Fuel consumption and emissions approved according to prevailing regulation. 15 The flexible and agile Energy TCe 130 is also a quiet engine. It brings motorists unprecedented acoustic comfort in which they can fully enjoy the “lifesize” sound of the Bose® Energy Efficient Series audio system (depending on the version).

BOSE® ENERGY EFFICIENT SERIES AUDIO SYSTEM

RENAULT AND BOSE®: A CONCERTED EFFORT FOR CUSTOMIZED SOUND

Renault and Bose formed a partnership back in 2008 to bring motorists the strong points of both brands, namely innovation, pleasure and quality excellence. Inspired by these values, the two brands went beyond a simple collaborative effort to form a perfect accord.

Harmony between the purity of sound and a vehicle interior might at first seem difficult to orchestrate. But because Bose’s aesthetic is similar to that of the luxury auto segment, the two brands found it easy to work together harmoniously on premium models.

The objective was to create a true acoustic experience and give instruments a real stage sound. Each passenger, wherever they are in the car, is treated to concert-like sound. The core of the system is a seven- channel digital amplifier that plays the role of conductor.

Through their shared experience and dialogue, the two brands have created an amazing sound experience.

Like Scénic Xmod, New Scénic and Grand Scénic are fitted with R-Link, the in-car connected multimedia tablet.

R-Link is a large, 18-cm touch screen with steering-wheel mounted controls and voice recognition so that drivers can keep their eyes on the road.

R-Link groups all the vehicle functions and information in an uncluttered, user-friendly interface. The menu provides access to the multimedia functions (music and telephony) as well as the TomTom LIVE GPS and the R-Link Store for apps.

With R-Link, New Scénic and Grand Scénic bring motorists an intuitive multimedia world enabling them to stay connected in complete safety.

THE SCÉNIC STORY Scénic has been upgraded with each successive generation while retaining its original strong points: travelling comfort, useful technologies, safety and responsible performance.

1996-2003: “An invitation to travel”

The first-generation Mégane Scénic was unveiled in 1991 in the shape of a concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Following Espace, the high-end minivan launched in 1984, and Twingo, the minivan-styled city car launched in 1993, Renault confirmed its frontrunner status with Mégane Scénic. Launched officially in 1996, it is considered as the first model in the compact minivan category.

Designed for families looking for a “cocoon-like” vehicle, the Scénic concept car scored high on spaciousness, versatility and safety. The car’s big advantage was its broad range of functionalities, informed by a fun approach and intended for all occupants.

The numerous innovations of the Scénic concept car led occupants to see car travel in a new light, whence the baseline “An invitation to travel”.

Mégane Scénic introduced a number of technological innovations used later on Renault production models, including the optimized use of recyclable materials and ABS combined with an automatic transmission.

Voted in 1997 and restyled in 1999, Mégane Scénic sold in nearly 1.9 million units in Europe.

17 2003-2009: the pioneer confirms its leadership

Following the success of the first generation, the compact minivan idea was widely reproduced by other carmakers and Scénic now had to compete with rivals including the and Citroën Xsara Picasso.

Scénic II maintained the brand’s advantage in a segment where it has been a standard-setter since 1996 and in which it has never relinquished its leadership.

Scénic II took modular design and user-friendliness to a whole new level with new functionalities including the sliding central storage compartment, surveillance mirror and flat-folding front passenger seat.

By considering any free cabin space as storage space, Scénic II reasserted its leadership in terms of travelling comfort.

Scénic II confirmed its family target and advance over the competition as the only minivan in the segment to be available in three versions: a short 5-seater measuring 4.30 m long and two long versions with either 5 or 7 seats at 4.50 m long.

Faithful to its remit of making travel a relaxing experience, Scénic II struck an ideal balance between the spaciousness of a minivan and the driving pleasure of a sedan.

Driving pleasure was enhanced by the engine range, offering more precision, fuel economy and acoustic comfort.

In 2003 Scénic II scored five stars in EuroNCAP tests, making it the safest vehicle in its category.

18 2009-2012: focus on travelling comfort

The third-generation Scénic and Grand Scénic made their debut in March 2009 at the .

In a changing world, Scénic and Grand Scénic adapted to the expectations of customers, bringing them even more comfort and motoring pleasure.

Scénic and Grand Scénic placed the emphasis on travelling comfort, with wider vision at the front, best-in- class knee room in the second row and the most generous third row in the compact minivan segment.

They were available with a broad range of gasoline and diesel engines, boasting strong performance and environmental respect.

The third-generation Scénic nevertheless marked a change in vehicle values. As functional as ever, Scénic and Grand Scénic exchanged their playful styling for elegant and clean styling.

.

In 2009 New Scénic won the Golden Steering Wheel award, voted by the German daily Bild am Sonntag, the readers of AutoBILD and equivalent motoring magazines in 25 European countries. It won the prize on the basis of several criteria, including styling, design, comfort, road holding, safety, quality and environmental respect.

Third-generation Scénic gained a new front end and new engines with Collection 2012, the aim being to create even more appeal.

In 2013 the iconic vehicle joined the new generation of Group vehicles by taking on the new brand identity.
