Timber Haulage through the villages of and in June and July.

Ffynnon Badarn forest has been served with a statutory plant health notice (SPHN) which enforces us to fell some 70ha of larch trees present on site. This felling would mostly be considered premature and we will have to fell a proportion of other species to ensure the site is left in safe condition. After felling the site will be restocked with a mixture of species. The timber has been sold on the open market to Silva (Chirk) Ltd.

During the sale process very high peak rainfall events have caused several landslides in the locality. One of these has closed the county road leading from Aberllefenni to , a preferred haulage route which we have used on a number of occasions (with NRWs permission) to avoid going through the villages. Haulage along this route to avoid the villages of Corris and Aberllefenni costs the owners of Ffynnon Badarn forest and to date have accept this cost to the benefit of the local .

The combination of the SPHN and the blocking of the haulage route hasled to the formation of a timber transport group between County Council, Corris Community Council, Tilhill, NRW, Silva (Chirk) ltd, KMO transport. This group has been working together to share communications, to fix the county road, and to aim to minimise timber haulage through your villages while the required works are being carried out.

The county road is programmed to be fixed in the summer and until then some timber haulage will be using the county road through Aberllefenni and Corris. We recognise that this will have some impact on the communities and will act as best we can to minimise this.

Actions we will take to help minimise the impact on you and your community Include:

• Timber haulage scheduled to avoid school hours - 8am to 9am and 3pm to 4pm. • Timber hauliers to recognise that there is no footpath along the council road in Aberllefenni and that speeds of vehicles should reflect this (legal 30 limit in place). • Display signage explaining what is happening, why, and for what period.

We would really appreciate your help in:

• Keeping a clear throughway along the county road to aid easy passage through the villages so we can minimise our presence.

We thank you for your understanding.
