NBC will air its game in Spanish on Telemundo. It marks the first time that the NFL has partnered on a league-oriented channel in an international market. On April 29, Amazon renewed its digital rights to Thursday Night Football through the season, maintaining the existing arrangement to simulcast the 11 games aired by Fox on Prime Video and for free on Twitch , and offer alternative broadcasts of the games on the two services. It also added exclusive worldwide rights to one late-season game per-season, which will be produced by CBS and simulcast on over-the-air stations in the two teams' home markets. The British English broadcasts were dropped this season. To reduce his workload and travel, NBC Sunday Night Football lead commentator Al Michaels will take several games off in favor of Mike Tirico including the Thanksgiving night game , which has already been assigned to Tirico in recent seasons. He later resigned from that role. Broadcasters are allowed up to 46 staff members at each game. Sideline reporters are not allowed on the field. The league is providing an enhanced artificial crowd noise track to be used by its broadcasters, separate from the non- dynamic crowd noise that is used at stadiums below 2, in attendance. The soundtrack uses crowd audio collected by NFL Films from past games involving the home team, including general ambience, team-specific chants, and contextual reactions. It is mixed by a local sound engineer at the stadium in synchronization with the game. NBC ruled out virtual fans, citing the large number of camera angles that would have to be configured for it. NBC did not rule out featuring "fan mosaics" as part of its augmented reality "virtual graphics. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. There were also several longer storylines which run through several of the books. Some volumes use the format of a mosaic novel. This involved several writers writing individual story lines which were then edited together into one novel length story. Finally, some volumes are a complete novel written by a single author. Wild Cards was inspired by superhero comics, and many of the authors play with the conventions of the medium, while some characters are based on existing heroes for example, Jetboy was modeled on the Hillman Periodicals' character Airboy. Many of the original authors were also inspired by a long-running Albuquerque, New Mexico campaign of the role-playing game Superworld , gamemastered by George R. Martin , and many modeled their characters on their in-game persona. Miller , and Martin himself. The series relates an alternate history of the earth after World War II. There is also a class known as ' deuces ' - aces who have acquired useless or ridiculous powers, such as the ability to levitate up to two feet, or to grow bodily hair at will. The airborne virus eventually spreads all over the world, affecting tens of thousands. The Wild Cards universe is distinguished from most superhero comic book fiction by several thematic elements. Early on the authors decided to pursue a more realistic, or naturalistic approach to storytelling. Few of the ace characters in Wild Cards have secret identities, or are traditional crime-fighting superheroes in the mold of Spider-Man or Batman. Wild Cards remained set within a recognizably real world with recognizably real people and pop culture and, because of the historical setting of many of the stories, had characters who aged realistically during the course of the series. The majority of wild card victims live in the run-down ghetto of Jokertown , while the fortunate aces become glamorous celebrities. In addition, Wild Cards took a more graphic approach to violence, and particularly to sex, than most superhero stories do. Unlike most superhero universes, the events of Wild Cards alter history in many ways - a notable example being Fidel Castro remaining in New York to play baseball, and the lack of a Communist takeover in Cuba thereafter. Thus, L. In the Wild Cards universe, the Dodgers are the equivalent of the New York Mets, with their history after the s coinciding with the Mets' history, including victory in the World Series over the Baltimore Orioles. The Los Angeles Stars are the equivalent of the real Dodgers. Other notable changes: Mick Jagger is a lycanthropic ace. Postseason Standings |

The deeper you get into the movie the more layers you find and realize what he's struggling with but as the movie start to scratch the surface it ends. I like Wild Card for one thing because it shown Jason Statham in a new light. He talks as much as he fights in this film and if you like Statham throwing fits and handling knives you'll be pleasantly surprise to him talk. Wild Card is a better movie than I expected, don't get me wrong it's not movie of the year, but it's kind of good and entertaining. Looking for some great streaming picks? For northern areas, that will mean more snow opportunities, while across the South, this this typically leads to elevated severe weather risks. The North Central states should see a slower start to winter. Generally, temperatures should be near-to-above normal with below normal precipitation continuing through November and likely December. This will unfortunately add to drought concerns across portions of the region. The late winter period will likely feature a turn toward colder weather conditions, especially across the Northern Plains. Colder air will build up across western Canada and some of this air is expected to occasionally come down into the North Central states. This effort will be resisted by warmer air across the east and south, so we may have wetter conditions across the Midwest later in the winter. It will also mean higher risks for snow and mixed precipitation. The Southwest and South Central states are likely to experience above normal temperatures through most of winter. There will be cooler risks later in the year across California and Nevada, along with portions of the South Central states. These cooler periods could be intense across the portions of the South Central states. The main story will be expanding drought conditions across the Desert Southwest through Texas. Most storm systems should be located across the northern states with few opportunities for meaningful precipitation in these areas, which means the wildfire season in California and the Desert Southwest would extend into the early winter. The Northwest states should see a more active winter season. After a mild start to the season, especially in November, below normal temperatures will gradually take hold as the winter progresses, especially across the northern Rockies. The Los Angeles Stars are the equivalent of the real Dodgers. Other notable changes: Mick Jagger is a lycanthropic ace. Frank Zappa became a general in the US Army rather than a musician. Buddy Holly did not die in a plane crash, becoming a washed up has-been, working in dingy venues, covering Prince and Billy Idol. Thomas Marion Douglas an analogue of Jim Morrison , lead singer for the rock group Destiny, was an ace called the Lizard King , and died not of an overdose in France, but from a dose of the experimental Trump virus , which cured him and removed his immunity to many years of drug abuse. The botched Iranian hostage rescue of the Jimmy Carter administration was bungled by a team of aces including Popinjay and Carnifex rather than Marines and was later proven to be part of a conspiracy to prevent Carter's re-election due to his pro- wild card stance. President George H. Bush promised "no new exotics a politically correct term for wild carders laws" rather than "no new taxes," but still went back on his word. The series features a large and ever-changing cast of characters. A minor character in one story can become a major, or even the viewpoint character, in another, or vice versa. Portions of the series were adapted into a graphic novel. Short stories based on the series appeared in the anthology-format comic book Epic: An Anthology. Author Daniel Abraham announced on his blog that he had been hired to pen a 6-issue Wild Cards limited series for Dabel Brothers Productions that was adapted into a graphic novel and possible ongoing series, although only the six-issue limited series eventuated. The initial series was called George R. It is currently outdated, providing a snapshot of the universe at that time, but does contain biographical and power data on about 60 characters from the first five books along with details on current storylines and organizations. The series has also been adapted to comic books, graphic novels, and role-playing games. Set during an alternate history of post- World War II United States, the series follows events after an airborne alien virus is released over New York City in and eventually infects tens of thousands globally. The virus, designed to rewrite DNA , was developed as a bioweapon by a noble family on the planet Takis, and it is taken to Earth to test on humans, who are genetically identical to the people of Takis. Tachyon, a member of this family, objects and attempts to stop them. However, his attempt crashes their ship, releasing the virus. The virus affects each individual differently, and it becomes known as the Wild Card virus because of these "random and unpredictable" symptoms. Wild Cards began as a two-year-long [1] campaign of the Superworld role-playing game , gifted to George R. Miller , Melinda M. Snodgrass , and Walter Jon Williams , and Martin served as gamemaster. Since the game had been built by a group, he felt it should be a shared universe anthology, which were popular at the time. Martin said that the group loved comic books and superheroes but wanted to approach the material in a "grittier, more adult manner than what we were seeing in the '80s". He cited the series' "sense of history" as a strength and expressed frustration with the retroactive continuity of mainstream comics. Snodgrass suggested a virus, which allowed for the superpowered Aces, the "monsters and freaks" Jokers, and a high death toll. The series was originally meant to be set in a then contemporary , but Waldrop, who was to write the first story, insisted that his story take place right after World War II. This created a forty-year gap between the first chapter and the remaining stories, pushing later contributions to fill in the intervening decades. Martin noted that this forced the authors to write about events they would have otherwise ignored, particularly the House Un-American Activities Committee and the McCarthy hearings which gave rise to characters and plot points that "added immeasurable richness to our world and depth of our characters". Waldrop's story also forced Williams to rewrite a new story, "Witness", which became the only shared world story to appear on the final ballot for a Nebula Award. Martin declined due to Gaiman's lack of prior credits at the time. Bantam Books , under its Spectra imprint , published twelve books between and , including two solo novels written by Melinda M. Snodgrass and Victor Milan. Baen Books published a new triad between and subtitled of a New Cycle. In , Martin commented that he felt the triad was creatively "three of the strongest volumes Wild Cards ever had" and that the series "came back strong" after stumbling with a previous storyline; he conceded, however, that the triad was "very dark", acknowledging it was a commonly-voiced complaint, and that he felt switching publishers was a mistake. In , ibooks Inc. Miller , and reprints for six of the first eight books were issued. Tor Books , an imprint under Macmillan Publishers , currently publishes the series in both print and e-book format. It released ten new installments from November to August Tor Books has also reprinted the first eleven novels from November to September [27] [28] [29]. Tor Books also publishes online supplementary material. A multi-author blog supporting Inside Straight opened in February The blog followed American Hero , the fictional reality television show in the book, and posted in-character "confessionals" from the twenty-eight characters competing on the show. The anthology was released December The Wild Cards Trust refers to the collection of authors who have contributed to the Wild Card series. Five authors have written for at least one novel released by each publisher of the series: Michael Cassutt , Stephen Leigh often writing as S. Farrell , John J. Miller , Walton Simons, and Snodgrass. Every installment was edited by Martin, who has also contributed as an author to ten books; later installments were co-edited by Snodgrass. Wild Cards was adapted into a role-playing game format by Steve Jackson Games. Written by John J. Unabridged audiobook versions of the first five novels have been released. Audiobooks of the first two novels were released by Brilliance Audio in November and December In October , Films, a joint venture between Syfy Channel and Universal Studios , acquired screen rights to Wild Cards under the direction of Gregory Noveck, senior vice president of production. Snodgrass was asked to write the screenplay, and she and Martin were to serve as executive producers. At the time of announcement, the film was intended to have a contemporary setting and the Sleeper among its characters. This was the second time the series was optioned. In August , Universal Cable Productions acquired the rights to create a television series. Martin stated that the development was in early stages and that the production was working on choosing characters and stories to adapt. Snodgrass is to serve as an executive producer. On November 13, , it was announced that Universal Cable Productions was teaming up with Hulu to develop two series based on the novels which will help establish a potential connected Wild Cards universe for the streaming service.
