COUNTY COUNCIL (A417 - READING ROAD AND , LOCKINGE, AND PARISHES) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 20**

Oxfordshire County Council (“the Council”) in exercise of its powers under Sections 82 and 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby make the following Order.

This Order may be cited as the Oxfordshire County Council (A417 Wantage – Reading Road and Ardington, Lockinge, East Hendred and West Hendred Parishes) (Speed Limits) Order 20** and shall come into force on the day of 20**.

1. The roads specified in Schedule 1 to this order shall be restricted roads for the purposes of section 81 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

2. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed in excess of 40 miles per hour in the length of road specified in Schedule 2 to this Order.

3. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed in excess of 50 miles per hour in the length of road specified in Schedule 3 to this Order.

4. No speed limit imposed by this Order applies to a vehicle falling within Regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011, being a vehicle used for naval, military or air force purposes, when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those regulations.

5. The Oxfordshire County Council (A417 Wantage – Reading Road and Ardington, Lockinge, East Hendred and West Hendred Parishes) (Speed Limits) Order 2015 is hereby revoked/replaced.

SCHEDULE 1 30 Miles Per Hour In the parish of ARDINGTON:

The whole length of every road in the village of Ardington, south of and excluding the A417 Wantage-Harwell Road, extending (in the case of the respective roads leading out of the said village) to the following points:

a) The Firs a point 227 metres south of its junction with the A417 Wantage-Harwell road. 1

b) School Road a point 159 metres south-west of its junction with The Rickyard. c) Well Street a point 114 metres south of its junction with Church Street.

In the parish of LOCKINGE:

The whole length of every road in the village of Lockinge, south of and excluding the A417 Wantage-Harwell Road, extending (in the case of the respective roads leading out of the said village) to the following points: a) The unnamed road running a point 113 metres south of its junction with north / south through School Road. Lockinge (Northern End) b) The unnamed road running a point 422 metres south of its junction with the north / south through unnamed road to . Lockinge (Southern End) c) The unnamed road to West a point 42 metres west of its junction with the un- Lockinge signed cul-de-sac known as West Lockinge.

In the parish of EAST HENDRED:

The whole length of every road in the village of East Hendred, south of and excluding the A417 Wantage-Harwell Road, extending (in the case of the respective roads leading out of the said village) to the following points:

Newbury Road a point 329 metres south of its junction with Horn Lane.

In the parish of WEST HENDRED:

The whole length of every road in the village of West Hendred, south of and excluding the A417 Wantage-Harwell Road, extending (in the case of the road leading out of the said village) to the following point:

Ginge Road a point 836 metres south of its junction with Manor Lane.

SCHEDULE 2 40 Miles Per Hour

In the parishes of East Hendred and West Hendred:

A417 Wantage to from a point 130 metres west of To a point 750 metres west of Reading road the junction of The Greenway, the junction of the A4185 and West Hendred, eastwards the A4130 East Hendred.

In the parishes of Lockinge, Ardington, West Hendred:
