Class of 2017 & 2018 Parent Night STEPS to the College Admission Process Parent Presentations for the Class of 2017 and 2018 Sponsored by Prepare U Clubs at Georgetown High School and East View High School Presented by Patricia Nehme, college counselor, board certified member of the American Institute of Certified Educational Planners, and professional member of the National Association of College Admissions Counseling and the Association of College Admission Counseling. Pat is also a proud parent of a Georgetown High School graduate. Funded through a grant from Seeds of Strength....Next Generation program. The session will be held at John Thomas Lecture Hall off the front corridor of GHS. Thursday, March 3, 2016 @ 7:00 PM READY – SET – GO Summer is almost here and soon your child will be completing and submitting college applications. Learn how to navigate and manage the process for college admissions. Leave with a step-by-step ‘TO DO’ list that covers the Junior Year - Spring, through the Summer following your child’s high school graduation.

Clubs and Organizations Book Club: Book Club will be meeting on March 31st at 8:00 in Mr. Collman's room #175. Please come to discuss The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet by Reif Larsen. We will also decide our book for April.

Art Club: Art Club meets in room 501 every Wednesday, 3:45-5pm, unless otherwise notified by Ms. Mitchell.

Cause Club: Will meet every Tuesday at 8:00 am in the library.

Drama Club: Will meet the last Friday of each month at 8am in the Little Theatre.

French Club: Meetings will be held every Monday after school in Madame Shadwick’s classroom 854.

HOSA: Meetings will be the last Thursday of every month. Meetings will be at 8:10 am and 3:50 pm in room 213.

Interact Club: Will meet on all A day, Thursdays at 8:15 in room 502.

Key Club: Will meet every Thursday at 4:15 pm in room 859 in the High School Annex.

Prepare U: Meets every A Day Tuesday in Room 184 at 3:50 pm.

Serteens: GHS Serteens will meet every Wednesday at 4 pm and every Thursday at 8:15 am in room 152. Please try to attend one of those meetings as we prepare for our benefit concert/silent auction.

Young Conservatives: Meet the 1st Monday of each month in Room 184 at 3:50 pm.

College and Career Center Local scholarships are now available for all seniors! Visit Coach Conrad in the College & Career Center or Ms. Charpentier in the Annex Office to pick up applications.

The Georgetown Project The Georgetown Project, in partnership with Goodwill of Central Texas, is offering a Summer Youth Employment Program available to current GHS students who are 16 or older and have no previous work experience. There is no cost to enroll in this program and the deadline to apply is March 20th, 2016. Please stop by your counselor’s office for more information.

GHS Trainers Are you interested in the healthcare field and enjoy sports? If so, you may be interested in becoming a member of the student athletic trainer program at Georgetown High School next year. The student trainers work closely with each athletic team at GHS to provide medical coverage at games, practices, and in the training room. As a student trainer you will learn taping and bandaging techniques, emergency care, evaluation of injuries and illnesses, and many other topics in the healthcare field. Applications are now being accepted to become a student trainer for the 2016- 2017 school year. You may contact Mrs. Redeaux or Mr. H in the fieldhouse training room any morning before 8am or immediately after school for more information. Please contact them prior to April 08, 2016.

Jack Frost Award Seniors, it’s not too late to get your application in, come by Mr. Boff’s room 212. Once you fill it out, it stays on file the entire school year.

Student/Teacher Basketball Game The fourth annual student vs. teacher basketball game will be on March 11th during 8th period. If you would like to be on the student basketball team, please come by room 512 to sign up.

Soaring Eagles Golf – Boys: The JV Boys Golf Team placed 5th out of 21 teams at the Round Rock High School Tournament played at the Shadowglen Golf Club. Leading the team in scoring were Grayson Smith, Cooper Cash, and Thomas Janes. Other members of the team were Andy Martin and Chase Gipson.

Georgetown FFA Ag Mechanics

The following students represented Georgetown High School and the Georgetown FFA Ag Mechanics the last two week at the San Angelo Ag Mechanics Show and the San Antonio Ag Mechanics Show; Conner Iselt, Shelby Musgrove, Kylee Wilkerson, Colton Machu, Andrew Ziegler, Kurstin Laceky, Braxton Mathson, Cooper Owen, Kade Clapper, Jay Simon, and Hunter Whitten. All students proudly brought home many ribbons and prizes for their projects and hard work.

At the San Angelo Ag Mechanics Show, Conner, Shelby, Kylee, Andrew, Kurstin, Braxton, Kade, Jay, and Hunter all brought home Blue Ribbons for their projects. Cooper and Colton brought home red ribbons for their projects. Additionally Hunter Witten brought home 2nd place in the Towable BBQ pit division with his 20’ BBQ Gooseneck trailer, and brought home $300.00 in prizes. Jay Simmon placed 2nd place with his 10’ Hydraulic Metal Brake in the Shop Equipment division and brought home $300.00 in prizes. Kurstin Laceky placed 3rd with her Urban Chicken Feeder and brought home $200.00 in prizes. All these students competed against 569 projects at the San Angelo Ag Mechanics Show.

This weekend at the San Antonio Ag Mech Show, Andrew Ziegler, Shelby Musgrove, Kylee Wilkerson, Jay Simon, and Hunter Whitten all brought home blue ribbons. Hunter Whitten additionally won the Towable BBQ Pit Division along with winning his Division with his project. Hunter brought home countless prizes totaling around $6,000.00 in value along with a $12,000.00 Scholarship. Jay Simon placed 4th in the Shop Equipment Division and brought home $200.00 in prizes. Kylee Wilkerson brought home the prestigious Annual Chairman Award which is awarded to the participant who has the most knowledge of their project, the most compassion for their project, and went out of their way to draw in people to explain their project. With this award, Kylee brought home $3,000 in prizes. At the San Antonio Ag Mechanics Show our students competed against 579 different projects and 2,220 different exhibitors.

The Ruby Slipper The Ruby Slipper would like to cordially invite young women from GHS to visit our Ruby Slipper Boutique on Saturday March 26th from 10 to 2 to shop for their Prom Dress. We are located in room 315 @ EVHS. We have over 400 dresses for ANY girl that would like one. There are no requirements.
