Joining her is Britain’s Hayley Turner , experiencing her ninth Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup, and newcomer Sammy Jo Bell , the apprentice who has been firing on all cylinders in 2015. • Australian jockey Kerrin McEvoy , familiar to British racegoers from his days with Godolphin, leads the Rest Of The World team, which also features his compatriot Blake Shinn, both embarking on their first Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup, and Japanese legend Yutaka Take , who is back for the seventh time. • Team Europe is captained by French ace Olivier Peslier , about to enjoy his fourth Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup. He is accompanied by Adrie de Vries from the Netherlands, riding at the competition for the second year in succession, and newcomer Vincent Cheminaud , who boasts the unique distinction of riding winners at the very highest level both on the Flat and over jumps in France. • Dual British champion jockey Jamie Spencer , at his fourth Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup, captains the Great Britain & Ireland team which consists of reigning Irish champion jockey Pat Smullen , who has participated once before, and newcomer Graham Lee , who has turned from being a top-class jump jockey to a leading Flat rider and gained his first Royal Ascot success this year in the Group One Gold Cup on Trip To Paris. • The six races are limited to 10 runners with either two or three horses racing for each team (this will balance itself out over the course of the afternoon), and points are awarded on a 15, 10, 7, 5, 3 basis to the first five horses home (non- runners score 4 points). Subject to full fields, each jockey has five rides and the team with the highest total after the sixth race lifts the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup. • The jockey amassing the most individual points will take home an additional £3,000 plus the Alistair Haggis “Silver Saddle” trophy. • All six races are handicaps and all will be run with identical prize money - £40,000 per race. • There are two reserves per race. • Owners have a fantastic opportunity on Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Day - there are no entry fees for the races, there is prize money down to last place (with reserves that miss out on a run paid £500 appearance money) and there is complimentary hospitality throughout the day. • Dubai Duty Free has been associated with the Shergar Cup since its inception, initially as team sponsor of the Rest of the World team and as a race sponsor. In 2006, the company became title sponsor for the first time and since 2014 has sponsored the entire event. • The Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup is being run for the 15th time at Ascot. The Shergar Cup first took place at Ascot in 2000 when it was staged as an owners’ competition. It became a jockeys’ competition in 2001 and has gone from strength to strength ever since, attracting bumper crowds year after year. It did not take place in 2005 when the racecourse was being redeveloped. • The jockeys competing in the four-team Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup will again wear full team colours at this year’s renewal. Please see the jockeys’ biographies section (pages 9 -14) for further information about this year’s team colours. • Cheerleaders will welcome the winning rider back after each race and be part of the opening and closing ceremonies. • Each team will have an anthem for the day, played whenever they have a winner - GB&I: The Boys Are Back in Town; ROW: Rockin All Over The World; GIRLS: Sisters Are Doing It for Themselves; EUR: Ca Plane Pour Moi. • The first two races on Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup day will be broadcast on More4 with the remaining four contests shown on Channel 4, making it the only raceday outside of Royal Ascot to be covered in its entirety by the broadcaster. • Away from the track, the racing will be followed by a free late afternoon concert for racegoers featuring music icons Lulu, Rick Astley, Blue, Razorlight and Hayseed Dixie. Premier Admission ticket holders will have a short priority access period allowing them to get towards the front of the stage. There will also be a fairground (included in the price of a ticket) on the Bandstand Lawns, Champagne and cocktail bars and a wide range of restaurants to visit before the music commences. 3 ORDER OF RUNNING Ascot, Saturday, August 8, 2015 The Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup The Dubai Duty Free 12.55 More4 Shergar Cup Dash Stakes 3+ £40,000 Five furlongs Pm (Handicap) (Class 2) (86-105) The Dubai Duty Free More4 1.30 pm Shergar Cup Stayers 4+ £40,000 Two miles (Handicap) (Class 2) (81-100) The Dubai Duty Free One mile & CH4 2.05 pm Shergar Cup Challenge 4+ £40,000 four furlongs (Handicap) (Class 3) (76-95) The Dubai Duty Free CH4 2.40 pm Shergar Cup Mile 4+ £40,000 Old mile (Handicap) (Class 2) (81-100) The Dubai Duty Free One mile & CH4 3.15 pm Shergar Cup Classic 3 £40,000 four furlongs (Handicap) (Class 3) (76-95) The Dubai Duty Free CH4 3.50 pm Shergar Cup Sprint 3 £40,000 Six furlongs (Handicap) (Class 2) (81-100) ADMISSION DETAILS Admission prices on the day are as follows: Premier Admission SOLD OUT Grandstand Admission £25 in advance or £30 on the day Free admission for accompanied children aged 18 and under. The following two years saw Rick continue to dominate the charts around the globe. Razorlight - 7.15pm-8.15pm After forming in London in 2002, Razorlight quickly became one of the key guitar bands of the following decade, selling four million albums, playing sold out arena tours and headlining festivals. Their debut album, ‘Up All Night’, was released in the UK in 2004, reaching number three in the UK Album Chart. But it was their second album, 'Razorlight', featuring ‘In the Morning’ and ‘America’ that debuted at number one in the UK. In 2007, Razorlight were nominated for two BRIT Awards – Best British Band and Best Song – and two NME Awards – Best Band and Best Album.

Stars from home and abroad set to shine in £270,000 Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup 15th April 2016 Frankie Dettori, Jamie Spencer, Silvestre de Sousa and Emma-Jayne Wilson have been confirmed as team captains for the 2016 Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup; the world’s premier international jockey’s competition at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 6th August. 2016 will also see a further increase in prize money with all six races now worth £45,000 (£40,000 last year). Each participant will get five rides as they bid to win the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup for their team. Last year saw the Girls team lift the trophy for the first time when they claimed three of the six races. Emma-Jayne Wilson, who captained them to victory, is back and will be joined by Michelle Payne from Australia, and Ireland’s Cathy Gannon. Payne made history last November when becoming the first female to win the Melbourne Cup, on the 100-1 shot Prince of Penzance, while Gannon became the first female Irish Champion Apprentice in 2004 and has enjoyed considerable success since moving to the UK in 2006, notching over 300 winners here. Wilson is Canada’s most successful female jockey having ridden over 1,000 winners. This will be her fifth Shergar Cup appearance. Wilson said: “Last year was amazing and I am so proud to have been part of the first Girls team to win. I am looking forward to reminding everyone what a powerful force we are. The Shergar Cup provides a great opportunity for us girls to prove we are as good as some of the world’s best male jockeys.

WEDNESDAY, 11 SEPTEMBER 2019 SMULLEN: HUMBLED BY FIRST ,50,000 SALE BENCHMARKS AUCTION'S PROGRESS by Chris McGrath RACING=S SUPPORT ASCOT, UK--Which would you rather have: the colt who topped the opening session at Keeneland the previous day, or all 127 animals who found a new home at Ascot yesterday? You could have corralled the whole herd of them for less. But the beauty with Thoroughbreds, of course, is that each and every individual that changed hands at the Tattersalls Ascot Yearling Sale--for an aggregate ,1,356,850, up 24% in only the third year of the auction--retains the right to prove their relative valuation all wrong, once broken and sent in training. After all, that's exactly what happened with several graduates of last year's sale. Besides the four fillies who have won listed races, they also included a ,28,000 colt beaten just a neck in the G2 Norfolk S. over the road at the Royal meeting; and, one of the fairytales of the season, the ,3,000 filly Bettys Hope (GB) (Anjaal {GB}), who completed a hat-trick for Rod Millman when scooping a ,122,925 pot in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury in July.
