Single counties are divided into three Local Administrative Areas (LAAs). Jurisdictions where two or more counties are combined are composed of three to eleven LAAs. The majority of the county committees represent single county jurisdictions. A county committee election is held each year in one LAA in rotation with the other LAAs. In LAA jurisdictions of 4 or more, two or more LAAs may hold elections in a given year. Elections are conducted in this manner for a three-year term for each county committee member, after which the seat of a member serving three years must be up for election again. County committee members are limited to three consecutive three-year terms. After a member serves three consecutive terms, the member must remain off the committee for at least one year before being eligible to run again. The data provided in this report represents only those LAAs that conducted elections in 2017.
