West Bengal Northern Hill Zone

PEST & MAJOR CROPS STAGE ADVISORY DISEASES In coming five days rather heavy to heavy rainfall on 27th 28th June and rest of the day’s moderate rainfall General - - have been forecasted. So, proper drainage channel should be maintained. Large Mulching should be done to conserve soil moisture and to Vegetative Stage - cardamom control weeds and also to facilitate the pollination. Drainage channels should be maintained as total 125 mm rainfall has been forecasted for coming five days. Weeding Mandarin around the base of the plant should be done as trunk borer Vegetative stage - Orange infestation has started. The larva should be hooked out from the hole followed by inserting the hole with cotton dipped in insecticide. Field should be weed free and irrigation is not Okra Seedling stage - recommended in coming five days as 125 mm of rainfall have been forecasted. Ginger Vegetative Stage - Drainage should be provided to avoid water stagnation. Animal Regular cleaning of cattle shed is essential during rainy Husbandry - - season. To clean your cattle shed use bleaching powder or (Cattle) calcium carbonate.

Terai-Teesta Alluvial Zone Advisory General Heavy rainfall will occur from 26th to 29th June and moderate rainfall will occur on 30th June. Main Crops Stage Pest & Diseases Rice Sowing Treat the seeds before sowing with a fungicidal suspension ([email protected]/lit of water) for 1kg seed. Soaking to be done for 7-8 hours. jute Stem rot Development of minute black spot on leaves which may extend to stem resulting in stem rot symptom. in such cases apply carbendazim 50 wp @1g per liter of water. Ginger Planting Dip the seeds before planting with Carbendazim+ Mancozeb @ 2g/lit of water for 30 minutes. Planting to be done on raised beds. Legume Reproductiv Aphid, white For Aphid control of Lab Lab bean apply Ash in case of lower infestation vegetable e fly and in case of heavy infestation Thiomethoxam 0.3 SG @1g/3 lit.. of water may be applied. Ladies finger Fruiting In case of spots on leaves with grey and dark margin apply carbendazim 50% WP @ 1 g/lit of water. Cucurbits Fruiting Fruit Fly Collection and destruction of fruit fly infested fruits. Installation of White fly, pheromone trap @ 2/Bigha. For white fly apply clothianidin 50 WDG@ Mosaic 3g/10lit. of water. For mosic uproot the infected plant and spray systemic insecticide. Due to poor pollination fruit setting in such case apply Boron 20% @ 2g/lit. of water to enhance fertilization at fruit setting. Do not use any pesticide and insecticide during flowering and fruit setting. Brinjal Vegetative fruit and For the management of fruit and shoot borer one application of coragen @ Fruiting, shoot borer 4 ml/tank. Cleanliness to be maintained. Apply Thiomethoxam 0.3 SG Nematode @1g/3lit. of water to manage sucking pests infestation. For nematode White fly, problem apply Fipronil 0.3G @1.5 Kg/Bigha followed by a light irrigation Jassid, or Nimitz 480 EC@ 4-8 lit/ha. could be applied against root knot nematode. ANIMAL HUSBANDRY & FISHERY

Name of Animal Disease Control measures Cattle and Non specific Diarrhoea, FMD The cattle populations are supposed to suffer from non- Buffalo specific diarrhea during this, mid rainy season due to water borne infections. Any gut acting antibacterial along with remonetric preparation may lead to satisfactory result. FMD may also consider during this hot humid condition. Appropriate Vaccination coverage. Anthelminitics of course for animals in proper doses is also advisible for better production potentials. Chicken pox Care for day old chiks with proper brooding, ventilation and management may arrangement reduce the mortality percent. A course of antibacterial for 3-5 days is recommended for pasting vent condition. Immunization against ND (Ranikhet) recommended as scheduled.

Management of fruit fly on cucurbitaceous vegetables install Fruit fly & pheromone trap @ 6-8/ha and apply bait spray in spots @ 30 nos./ha (at least) *[Bait preparation -200 gram molasses + 10 Cucurbitaceous Downy ml chlorpyriphos] mildew To control downy mildew of cucurbits spray Metalaxyl + Mancozeb @ 2-2.5g/liter of water. Stem rot & To control stem rot of jute, spray copper oxychloride @ 3-4 Jute Growth Sucking gram/liter of water. Management of sucking pest infestation on jute spray Pest dinoteferun 20% SG @ 1g/lit. + 0.5ml/liter sticker. To control chili fruit rot spray Carbendazim + Mancozeb @ Chili Fruiting Fruit rot 2.5g/liter of water. Turmeric & Transplanting of Ginger & Turmeric in the main field with Transplanting Ginger seed treatment for using Bavistin @ 4g/kg. Sowing of early cauliflower seed in the nursery bed before Cauliflower Sowing sowing seed should be treated with bavistin or mancozeb. If animal do not have access to green fodder, where required, Cattle -- -- they should be given Vitamin A injections. Pond preparation should be done through cultivation of Pond Fishery -- Dhaincha @ 1-1.5kh/bigha for 30-45 days for seasonal & new preparation pond.

Undulating Red and Laterite Zone Crop Stage Problem Advisory Paddy Upland-Land -- Farmers are advised to complete the final land preparations preparations and give proper bunding to hold the water in Upland- Sowing the field. Farmers are advised to complete sowing of the crop by end of this week. Apply 4.4kg Urea, 25kg SSP Lowland- and 6.4kg MOP per bigha in the final land preparation. Nursery Treat the seed with Carbendazim @3g/kg seed before sowing. Farmers are advised to raise the nursery by using treated seed. Seed rate 5.5-6 kg would be required to raise the seedlings enough for one bigha. Provide proper drainage channels to remove the excess water from nursery area Fishery Fingerling of carp Low Oxygen supply This is the time of putting the fingerling of carp in the pond • Farmers who have tiger prawn cultivation supply food during night • If there is oxygen deficiency then stir the pond water by wheel • Apply lime for cleaning the water General (SPI) The place is severely dry in condition. Since rainfall is there, no need of irrigating to the standing crops. Crop- coverage is less in the area.
