This is his first album under a major label after his independent release, No Introduction. The album was produced from 2009 to 2012 and was processed by Jess Jackson, Arthur MacArthur, Pharrell Williams, Boi-1da, and Noah 40 Shebib, among others. The album was released on February 21, 2012 on Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records and Universal Republic Records. The album has endured several release dates due to a sample of credits, and has experienced limited release in retail stores due to the non-credit use of Martin Luther King Jr. I've Been to the Mountaintop, which was his last speech before he was assassinated on April 4, 1968. Despite its limited release, the album received strong digital downloads, and debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 in the United States, selling 61,000 copies in its first week. The album received generally positive reviews from music critics after its release. The album's lead single, Far Away featuring Chris Richardson, was released on May 17, 2011. The song peaked at number 86 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Drake's second single was released on October 4, 2011. The song peaked at number 89 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The third single from the album, Rack City, was released on December 2, 2011. The song peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached platinum status for the American Recording Industry Association (RIAA). The fourth single featuring Lil Wayne was released on January 13, 2012. The song peaked at number 33 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The fifth single from the album Make It Nasty was released on June 26, 2012. Tour Taiga announced through his website that he will be touring in promoting his new album. The Unwarivorable World tour began in Lake City, Utah, at the Maverick Center on February 17, 2012 and ended in New Orleans, at Howlin Wolf on April 15, 2012. In the same month Tyga will go on a world tour of Europe for 2 months. Critical reception Professional ratingsReview ratingsSource-BasedAllmusic 7'HipHopDX 8 Now Pitchfork Media ( 6.7/10) (7/10) In Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating of 100 reviews to major critics, the album received an average score of 64, based on 13 reviews, indicating generally favorable reviews. David Jeffries of Allmusic gave the album three and a half stars out of five, saying: Growth, as his previous efforts are obvious, both for good (writing skills) and for the controversial definition of bad. Joe Colley of Pitchfork Media gave the album 6.7 out of 10, saying, Twenty-one tracks for almost an hour and a half is a crazy length of an album with such a pop instinct. Set aside that complaint though, and I was left without much to choose from. Andrew Nosnitsky of Spin gave the album five out of ten, saying, Overall, however, Careless World is just mediocre. Tyga wallows in the sort of bleak, affected seriousness that he hinted at his Black Thoughts mixtape series. Anupa Mistry of Now gave the album three out of five stars, saying: Careless World is not just Rack City plus 20 songs filler, thanks in large part to a phenomenal production team. The result is a slick, accessible rap record that is about nine songs too long. Adam Fleischer of XXL gave the album XL, saying, Despite all its highlights, there are many - The Sloppy World: Rise of the Last King still feels disjointed in moments. Even so, Tyga, still only 22-years-old, is growing as an artist, and shows that there is more to him than the inevitable club jams, for those who may have doubted. Also, it sounds good and it's reason enough to take care of the music world of this album. Edwin Ortiz of HipHopDX gave the album three and a half stars out of five, saying: The reckless world perfectly reflects Tyga and the creative traits he possesses. It's serious when it's necessary, sometimes triumphant, and impressive enough that you have to consider it a force to be reckoned with. In addition, it is a flaw that indicates that Tyga has the ability to raise their skills . David Amidon of PopMatters gave the album four out of ten, saying: Careless World is what it is, and while it may not be so much, it's professional enough and enough that - frightening as its length can be - its fans should be satisfied, and its detractors should be relieved to continue to have little reason to pay him any mind. [11] Juon of RapReviews gave the album seven out of ten, saying: Sometimes the album feels bloated and excessive, but Tyge is only 22 years old. He will learn to reproach him and keep only the best songs on future releases, which hopefully won't be as long delayed as it was. Rolling Stone's Monica Herrera gave the album two and a half stars out of five, saying: Taiga's strength is not in introspection, but in the curatorship. Pharrell Williams, Wale, Nas and J. Cole are all guests, and those who don't exist in the spirit: Do It All Monkey Kanye West's Power, and Black Crown ends with a voicemail message from Mom that would make even Drake a syringe. Controversy was sparked around the album's title track, as Martin Luther King Jr. wanted to stop selling the album due to the unauthorized use of one of his speeches at the end of the album's first track, Careless World. Tyga then tweeted that the problem had been resolved and the release date would not be changed. New copies of the album, with Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech removed, were sent to stores. The commercial performance of Careless World: Rise of the Last King debuted at number four on the U.S. Billboard 200, with sales in the first week of 61,000 copies, despite limited release in retail stores due to an unclear recall of the sample. Since April 2013, the album has sold 340,000 copies in the United States. On March 19, 2020, the album was certified platinum by the American Recording Industry Association (RIAA) for combined sales and album equivalent units in the United States.
